Hey, guys. Adam here with americanmuscle.com and today, we're taking a quick look at and, of course, installing the MP Concepts LED Side Marker Lights for the rear in a smoked finish, available for the '18 and newer Mustangs. You should be checking this out for your own S550 if you're looking to get a stealthy, more attractive, and a lot brighter side marker light for the side profile of your S550. This guy here is going to be a huge leap in the modern or new direction, as opposed to the more traditional incandescent and red reflective light that you get off the factory line. This guy uses the same OEM quality housing. It's all ABS plastic and weatherstrip-sealed to make sure no rain, snow, sleet, or hail will damage the LEDs. But on top of that, it's got that really dark smoked lens. Now, the dark smoked lens is great for the guys looking for a stealthier look on their Mustang. Not everybody's looking for the darker lenses, but if you are, this is a really good way to go to either start your journey in the direction of having a smoked out Mustang or if you're looking to complete the package to match your front headlights and rear taillights. Now, the LED design in here is a lot different than many of the other options out there. It's more of a supercar styling, or at least supercar inspired design, with the three Y-shaped LEDs to get there. Now, those are red SMD LED technology, which is a lot brighter than the factory incandescents, perfect to light up the night time, or even daytime, to make sure that safety is a key priority, but also giving you a really fresh look for your Mustang. These also last a lot longer than the incandescent bulbs, which is definitely worth mentioning. Now, if you're not really into the smoked finish, there are other options out there in the category. This one goes a little bit farther in the left field for the guys looking to really differentiate themselves. Now, of course, it's sold as a pair, so you get the driver and passenger side together for right around 70 bucks, making it a pretty affordable way to swap out a very traditional look. Now, the install gets one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Anybody can tackle this in the driveway at home with about 15 minutes from start to finish. You don't even need any hand tools. All you really need to do is reach up under the bumper and push out from the inside and it'll disconnect. Unplug it, and plug in your new plug and play harness. That's the easiest part there. No splicing, no wiring, no cutting, simple install. I'm going to show you guys every step of the process. Let's get started. All right. To kick off the uninstall here, all you really need to do is sit down on the floor and you're going to reach up under the bumper. Toward the front end of your marker light, there's a little plastic clip holding it in place. You're going to push outward from the inside and it'll disconnect this section and then you'll slide the rest of it out. It is very simple. So, I'm gonna step off the stool. I'm just going to reach underneath and push on that. There's a little cutout right next to your muffler. So you just want to be careful you're doing this when your muffler's cool because you might end up touching it. Find that clip right about here. And you're basically just going to push out. All right. Just like that. Slide it out of place. Once you have it out and off, the wire doesn't come out very much. You're just going to pinch and disconnect. It's that simple.Just to give you a stock comparison here side by side, I have the factory light in my left-hand and your new smoked LED light in my right. Now, obviously, the fitment and the shape is overall pretty much the same. It's going to have the same OEM quality housing, impact-resistant, nice ABS plastic there. This one is a black housing, but not going to make any difference because it's on the inside of the vehicle. Really the big change is the LEDs on the inside here and the lens. Now, the LEDs for this guy have three, what I'd call, Y-shaped LED lights, one here, one in the middle, and then on the far left. Your factory light just has one fixated bolt. This guy here uses a lot brighter and more attractive technology and has a completely different interior design with those Y shapes. Now, the ones here is dark smoked. So, you get a really nice stealthy look when the lights are off. You can barely see, if at all, the LEDs on the inside. Not really the case here, the factory red clear lens has that reflecting inside that's very traditional looking. So, this is a really nice modern touch. Now on the backside, you can see that we have a wire sticking out here that we don't have on the factory light. What that basically means is we're going to have to transfer over this bulb socket. We're going to pull the bulb out of the socket and plug in the LED connector. So, that's what we're going to do next. All right. So, looking at the factory light here, what you're going to do is just grab the black connector here, twist it counterclockwise, and pull it straight out. Now, I'm going to set the factory light down. Now, the LED connector is going to plug in here where that bulb is. So, you're going to carefully pinch the base of that bulb and just give it a wiggle and push straight back to disconnect. I'm going to try not to put too much pressure to crush it.Now, at this point, what I'd like to do is actually plug the connector back into the factory harness here. That way, we can line up our power and ground wires. All right. So, take that factory connector with nothing plugged into it, you're going to plug it into the factory harness. I find this to be the easiest way. When you look at the factory harness with this guy plugged in, you can see two little wires sticking out a black one, and it looks like a purple and white striped one. The black one's your ground, the purple and white stripe is your power, which is equivalent to the red. So, now, when we plug this guy in, the LED strip on the back of the marker light, you want to make sure the black wire on your new harness is on the same side as the black wire on your factory harness, so you can line your power and your power and your ground and your ground up. So, it looks like holding this up here, we have the black wire on the left and the red on the right. That's what we're going to match here with our LED. You can see the black and the black. All right. At this point, you can test your light to make sure they work. And when you confirm that they work, you're just going to basically feed that harness back in. Use this slot to slide in first. Go to the rear first and push it in place. Repeat that on the other side and you're good to go.Well, guys, that's gonna wrap up my review and install for the MP Concepts LED Side Marker Lights in a smoked finish available for the '18 and newer Mustang.
