The SpeedForm Tail Light Covers that we have here will be the premium way to smoke the taillights on your 2018 and newer Mustang when compared to some of your other more budget-friendly options. Now, this set of smoked covers will feature a durable thermoformed acrylic build, along with that dark smoked appearance for right around 60 to 70 bucks for the kit. Installation will be pretty much a peel and stick job here, thanks to the included Velcro. So I figure a soft 1 out of 3 wrenches on the old difficulty meter and I would say 15 minutes or so to complete from start to finish. All right, so full disclosure here, gang, I currently have these covers installed on my 2019 GT, and I absolutely love them. They flow extremely well with the piano black deck lid panel, along with that same gloss black material that surrounds the angular tail lights found on all the '18 and newer cars. But what's even more impressive is that due to the combination of the very bright factory LEDs and those tail lights and the smoked, but not completely blacked out covers, you're still getting a ton of light through the covers themselves during the day and at night. So you're not gonna have to worry about these things affecting your visibility, along with your safety. But going back to the original purpose of these covers, and the goal is pretty simple, right, deliver that aggressive appearance through a smoked lens. Now traditionally, you're gonna have a few different ways to go about doing this. You can certainly opt for the vinyl kit, which we do have here on the site for the '18 and newer cars for roughly half the price of the SpeedForm kit.The problem is, these newer, more angular tail lights pose a certain extra challenge, if you will, when it comes to the install compared to the straight and relatively flat tail lights of the '15 through '17 cars. Now I don't know how many of you guys have messed with vinyl, but let me just say, working with these tight curves and angles really isn't always that easy, even with a little bit of heat. Now I'm not even gonna touch on the dye option because that's just really asking for disaster. So, that leaves covers and, yes, they are gonna be the more expensive option, but the end result will certainly speak for itself. Construction, again, will be that thermoformed smoked acrylic, six pieces in total as you can see, one for each bar, and finally the included 3M based Velcro, which will make for a very easy installation and removal if you ever need to pop them off for cleaning or maybe inspection, which, by the way, is not possible with a vinyl or tin kit. Now lots of good reviews and pictures on these covers, guys, so read up before pulling the trigger and check out some of the pictures here on the site. But now it comes to a point in the video where we wanna show you just what it takes to get the SpeedForm kit installed on your ride at home. And again, everything is included to make the job a little bit easier, including the 3M Velcro we just mentioned, along with some alcohol prep pads, which is essential for cleaning off the area first. But to give you a better idea of how it's going to go down, check out our detailed walkthrough right now.Item used for this installation includes alcohol prep pads. All right, guys, getting started here today, we wanna make sure the tail lights are nice and clean. This is a 3M supplied Velcro material that's gonna secure the cover to your factory tail light. So, in order to make sure we've got a good solid bond, we're gonna take our included alcohol prep pads, tear it open, and start wiping down the tail lights thoroughly before getting started. All right, so our Velcro is gonna live on either side of the tail light closest to the deck lid panel. So that's really where you wanna make sure it's nice and clean, inside and the outside. Repeat that process on all three lights on this side. With our tail lights nice and clean, now we're going to grab one of our SpeedForm covers and install our Velcro. Now, they do supply pre-cut Velcro for the tail light side. The tail light cover sides have already been installed for you so you don't have to worry about that. But you wanna make sure you match up the sizing correctly for each section. So we got one there and then one here on one side. Again, you can see how the Velcro lines up perfectly lengthwise, and then our inside's a little harder to see, but the same process. I'm sure it lines up good. Press that on the front light. With our Velcro on now, we can just simply remove the backing on the 3M tape or Velcro. So now we're going to install our cover over our factory tail light. We're starting with the outer portion here. This can be a little bit tricky because now you have your adhesive exposed. You wanna make sure you can slide it over the actual light but without getting stuck too early. So if you need to actually use your hand and gently pry it apart while installing, go right ahead, and we're gonna work our way on very slowly. All right, with our one portion done, now we're just gonna repeat that process here for the next two on the passenger side. Again, grabbing your cut to length Velcro and carefully apply it on to the tail light cover. Remove our backing for the Velcro. Now, install it over the middle portion of our factory tail light. Again, you really wanna start with this portion closest to that, making sure you don't hit the Velcro on the outer portion. Go ahead and apply pressure once it's fully seated. And now we have our third portion of the passenger side tail light. We're going to, again, install our Velcro carefully, making sure we have the correct length. I like to get these kind of corners started first. It just makes removing the backing a heck of a lot easier. Now, just go ahead and install our third and final piece for the passenger side. All right, with our passenger side knocked out, go ahead and repeat that process for the driver side, and your installation is complete. Hey, guys, we hope you enjoyed this review and install of the SpeedForm Smoked Tail Light Covers, available for that 2018 and newer Mustang at home.
