Justin: If you're the owner of a 2015 and newer Mustang, and you wanna evoke some of the retro styling of the classic mid-'60s Mustangs, well then adding the MP Concepts unpainted side scoops here might just be a great choice. Now, the MP scoops do feature that durable injection-molded ABS plastic construction, along with your included honeycomb inserts, but they will need to be color-matched to your ride, all for right around the $100 price point. Now, throwing a set of scoops in the 2015 and newer Mustang is a great way to really increase the retro styling that a lot of us Mustang owners tend to enjoy even on some of the more modern cars like the S550. Now, the big two areas I think people tend to address when going for that retro vibe are either the quarter window area, which you'll find a ton of options here on the site, and of course, the side scoops, which when done together, I think even make a more dramatic impact overall. Now, as far as your design is concerned when talking side scoops, I think you'll find a number of options here on the site, including some more modern choices from companies like Cervini's and Roush, whereas the options from MP Concepts, I feel, tend to fall more on that retro or throwback design. Now, whatever you're into, feel free to check out the rest of our selection here at americanmuscle.com, including some paint-matched options as well, which will save you a step needed for the MP Concepts here. And on that topic, the biggie will be that, yes, these are a pretty affordable option in the land of scoops, but they do come with the caveat of needing to be color-matched to your ride prior to the install. Now, if you have a solid paint shop or paint hookup, or if you can do this on your own, then this really isn't a big deal. But if you are concerned about the extra work, maybe the extra money, along with that finished product, well, you might wanna consider one of our color-matched options available here on the site instead. But shifting our focus back to the MP options, and again, you're gonna find a really nice build quality here, considering the low price point, consisting of the lightweight injection-molded ABS plastic that really does conform nicely to the curvature of your S550.Now, the cherry on top here, guys, at least for me, will be the included honeycomb inserts that really help complete the look and ultimately make for a more finished appearance once installed. Now, speaking of that installation, guys, don't expect anything too crazy here. No drilling, no permanent modification, instead you're just simply gonna use the included 3M adhesive tape to get everything in place. Now, with that being said, you will need to clean that area thoroughly. You will need to use your alcohol prep pads and, of course, your adhesion promoter to make sure these guys don't go anywhere on you when you're bombing down the highway at speed. But as far as difficulty is concerned, peel and stick job, 1 out 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter is what you can expect here, maybe 30 minutes of your time to complete from start to finish. But to give you a better idea of just how this will all go down, feel free to check out this detailed walkthrough from an AM customer now.Man: So for the tools needed today, the instruction specifically called for a razor blade, and this is for cutting your 3M double-sided adhesive. I find it much easier, quicker, and safer to use scissors just simply because, you know, you don't have to measure each piece and then cut with this or risk cutting your finger or cutting your scoops. So I think this is much easier because you can go ahead and lay it out on the scoop as you saw me do, snip, and then, you know, you're moving on to the next piece. You don't have to try to cut with this here. But the instructions do specifically call for a razor blade, so I think you should have both a razor blade and a pair of scissors, and figure out what works best for you to make your install that much easier. So if you are going to paint your side scoops, you really need to wash them and wash them well before drying them off. So let's go ahead and get that taken care of. Let it air-dry for a moment then I'll wash it up...or dry it off.So this step here, step number one, like I said, whether your car is clean or not, you really need to scrub this here, this quarter panel with automotive-grade soap and water, get it nice and cleaned up. All right. Next, we just have to rinse it. So now we're gonna continue on to step two and let this dry.So step two is to insert your grille here into the side scoop. Now, the passenger side and driver's side, they do not fit. So they only fit one way, so it makes it easy to match it in there. So in order to attach these two together, you're going to use the double-sided 3M adhesive that is provided. And to cut it, you'll use a razor knife. So let's go ahead and get started on that.So next, once the 3M adhesive is on, you wanna make sure before peeling the backing off that it still fits correctly with that adhesive on. Since it did, we're gonna go ahead and peel off this red backing. Okay. And then we're gonna stick it in here.Next, we need to firmly squeeze these two together. I go over it a few times just to make sure, and I kind of give it a little wiggle and a tug and it's pretty secure in there. So that's what it looks like now. So now let's go ahead and continue onto step number three, which...that is to get adhesive all on the inside here. So let's go ahead and get started on it.I'm gonna make sure that is on there pretty well. Squeeze it there. Then we still have that last little piece to put it on. This is the most difficult of the four strips to put on, so you wanna take your time and make sure you get it properly set there. When that's set, you can cut it. Okay. So that was step three. We're gonna go ahead and continue on to step four, which is, one, making sure that the car is dry and clean, and then we're gonna do a fitment test on this. And if it fits, you peel off the red backing and we'll go ahead and install it.So the car is still just a little bit wet where I need it...need to do a fitment test here. So I'm just gonna dry it off real quick. And just as you're drying, make sure that there is no, like, dirt or build-up anywhere that you might have missed the first time around. If so, then make sure that you've got it clean. So once your car is dry and clean, you wanna make sure that there's nothing in the way, extra dirt or anything like that, that you might have missed the first time. And then you want to, with the red adhesive...or red backing still on the adhesive, you wanna do just a check, a fitment check to make sure that everything's good all the way around, you don't have any weird gaps anywhere, and then make sure it all looks good in here. And as long as this is good, take the red adhesive...or red backing off the adhesive and we're good to go. Since everything is good, we can go ahead and take this off.All right. Now, be very careful when placing this. Make sure everything is lined up. Then you wanna put as much pressure as you can and make sure that...make sure that it is adhered properly. Then you can give it a little tug to see that there's no movement in there, but I'm still gonna give it a little extra pressure, just in case, there. I wanna make sure everything's good. All right. Driver's side's done. Let's get started on the passenger side. So for step four, once again, we wanna check to make sure that everything is clean, there's no extra debris that we need to wash off or wipe off. And then we want to test the fitment. You wanna make sure that it matches your driver's side. So however far forward or backwards, whatever angle you put it at, you wanna make sure that it matches. This looks like it fits pretty well, so we're gonna go ahead and move forward and peel off all the red backing. All right. Let's install. Again, you wanna press it on the best you can. Apply as much pressure as possible. Make sure that this adheres properly. There you go.Justin: So wrapping this one up, guys, if you are a fan of that retro styling and you have a solid paint hookup, we'll then be sure to check out these affordable unpainted side scoops from MP Concepts right here to americanmuscle.com.
