Will this hood scoop fit onto a 2013 Mustang V6? I'm buying a 2013 Black Mustang V6 & thought this scoop would look great on it, but it didnt list 2013 as a model it would fit. Would love to get it if I new that it WOULD work on it.

    SSG91

    • The 2013s are going to have a different hood scoop than this one made for the 2010-2012 as the hoods did change slightly. Keep an eye out!

Is this the same as the prepainted scoop? The shape of this item looks slightly different than the prepainted one. Are they the same, and will either one fit the 2013 GT premium yet? Thanks. This one looks more like the aftermarket shaped Roush scoop that is coming in November, which is what comes up on the Build your Battle Car site at the Ford website.

    MuscleCarWoman

    • Yes, this is the same hood scoop as the painted version. Unfortunately, neither will fit the 2013 as they had a different hood than the 10-12 models.

Can this fit with the hood on the 05-09's? I keep thinking this would look awesome on my 06' and wondering if anyone has ever tried it on a hood from an 05-06 to see if it would work? My thoughts are that I don't see why it wouldn't work and that it would actually be pretty sweet. Please let me know. I have a feeling you have a few 05-09's sitting around AM that you could set this on to check... Thanks! Jay-

    JaybirdRTR

    • No, the 10-12 year stock hoods are curved slightly differently from the stock 05-09 hoods.

Do I need to sand the hood down and primer it? or is it ready for base coat?

    Jeffrey

    • Very minimal sanding will be needed before a primer base is laid down on this scoop. After a few coats of primer, this scoop will be ready for paint! We highly recommend professional preparation and painting to ensure an exact paint match.

Can you advice the best brand / type of the double side tape for aftermarket?

    Jan

The stated dimensions are: 32-1/2" L (corner to corner) x 28" W x 1-1/2" H. Can you please explain what (corner to corner) means? Is that a diagonal measurement? If so, what is the actual length. Also what is the front and rear width? Thank you.

    FlorianP

    • The SpeedForm Hood Scoop measures 32-1/2" L X 28" W X 1-1/2" H - the reference of "corner to corner" is from the very edge of the scoop to the very edge of the other side. It is not a diagonal measurement.

Review from SpeedForm Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (10-12 GT, V6)

      Smooth install Hot looks

I bought this hood scoop pre-painted performance wait for my 2011 GT. One of the best things I’ve done for my car today. It looks amazing. It was a bit of and install as you really need to pay attention to every measurement you’re doing. Measure three times drill once. Please measure three times drill once. It’s truly one thing you don’t want to mess with because once you drill into your hood you’re committed. I do have to say are used the 5/16 drillbit as every install said The drillbit supposed to be used is too small. In some cases I had to widen the whole just a little bit more as some of the holes did not line up. Not badly just not perfect. Anyway just follow the instructions and you’ll have it installed in an hour or tw The drillbit supposed to be used is too small. In some cases I had to widen the whole just a little bit more as some of the holes did not line up. Not badly just not perfect. Anyway just follow the instructions and you’ll have it installed in about an hour and a half. But don’t start this unless you have an afternoon to spare. It’s definitely something you don’t want to rush at all. Good luck and I’m sure it’s going to look great for you. Just take your time. Remember measure three times drill once!!!

      This things is amazing

Install wasn't too bad takes about 1 hour. An extra set of hands would be a good idea. The look is awesome and makes it look mean. Most people who have seen it think it's factory. With the drilling measure and fit 3 times before doing so and install with go smooth.

      Good Fit

Hood scoop fits and look good. I ordered this hood scoop unpainted. Recommendation: If installing on a black Mustang I would paint the sides of the double sided tape so it'll blend better with the hood. Its nothing major, the tape can barely be seen. Install not too bad........ Overall good fit and really adds aggressiveness to my 5.0.

Review from SpeedForm Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (10-12 GT, V6)

      Needs some work...

Great product but had issues. First when the item got to me, the box was all beat up and had places where it had opened. Luckly the hardware didnt fall out during shipment. Then the template provided was off. The front holes don't line up with the holes in the scoop and the rear strip is too short to be taped to the car as the instructions say. So i had to use my best judgement when drilling and had to do it more than once. Next the 3/16 it tells you to use is too small for the screw to fit in. I had to use a bigger size bit. LASTLY the double sided tape on the scoop did not stick at all. I had to go to the hardware store and add my own adhesive for it to bond. Other than that, the product looks good on the car.

      So Awesome....!!!!!

Omg. I spent months thinking about this move. Putting 4 holes in the hood of your baby is a scary thought. And it’s about as permanent as you can get other than the hassle of a new hood. So anyway. I looked at so many pics and researched. The speedform hood scoop is so good as it’s more rounded, not as tall, and the width matches the hood bevels exactly. Looks like it was on the car from the beginning. Ordered. Got in 2 days from AM. Great! Decided to have it professionally installed as I wanted to make sure it was done right. Local high end collision shop did a great job for $125. Makes the car looks so strong. Get compliments on it daily when I’m out.

      Hood scoop

Color and finish is perfect. Fit is perfect on my 2011 Mustang GT. The instructions were good but the 3/16” mounting bolt hole is too small for the bolt. I upsized to a 5/16”. Perfect. Except for the wrong drill size I would have given this product 5 stars.

      Perfect Mod

This made a huge improvement with an aggressive look. Like other reviews the alignment strips are not ideal. Took several tries and ended up making the screw holes bigger to help line everything up. When finally done and with a lot of patience it was all worth it for a sweet look!

Review from SpeedForm Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (10-12 GT, V6)

      great scoop, bad packaging

First the good. The scoop is the same as the factory scoop. The color matched great and it looks awsome. Its held on securely by double sided tape and 4 screws, which brings me to the bad. Its supposed to have 4 screws, 4 foam insulater pads for the screws and 2 large template strips just like in the video. Mine had 2 screws, 2 pads and the 2 strips were the short template strips that are used when mounting the pedestal spoiler, so they were useless. Who ever packaged this product should be fired! A 1 hour job took me 2.5 hrs cursing and fabricating new template strips and a trip to the hardware store to buy 2 metric screws. Again, the scoop itself is awsome. If you get all the hardware and correct templates it should only take an hour.

Review from SpeedForm Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (10-12 GT, V6)

      If looks could kill

very aggressive look, and paint was spot on. I did not have any issues with the templet, as others have stated. I noticed many people were complaining about the gap in scoop closes to windshield, so I decided to add two more bolts in the scoop closes to the problem areas. I figured your drilling into your hood anyways, so what's another two holes. It wouldn't be a bad idea, if this was factory. Anyways, I didn't just want the looks of the scoop, so I decided to make it somewhat functional as well, to let heat escape at idle, and cooler air in while in motion. This may not be for everyone, due to the fact of more hood drilling, but I like to think outside of the box. All and all I am satisfied with the product, and the outcome.
