Justin: Hey, what's going on, guys? Justin here with americanmuscle.com. And today, we're talking about and taking a closer look at the LED Bar Factory Style Headlights with the built-in LEDs, Black Housings, and Clear Lenses available for all '99 to '04 New Edge Mustangs. Now, you guys should be checking out these headlights for that New Edge at home if you'd like to go with a slightly more aggressive factory-style headlight for your New Edge and would prefer to add a little bit more of a modern touch thanks to the inclusion of those diffused LED bars. Lots to talk about here, guys, with these headlights, so let's get into it.So, the big feature here with these particular headlights will, again, be the inclusion of that diffused LED bar that frames the main headlight bulb and area perfectly on these particular lights. Now, me personally, I like this design. I've seen other designs both here on our site and on others that add some sort of diffused LED bar, but maybe it's just along the bottom or maybe along the bottom and up only one side. I'm not hating on that design, but to me, it just feels a little bit incomplete. Now, the fact that these headlights do offer that bar going all around, again, that main headlight area just looks a little bit more finished and gives off a better overall appearance, in my humble opinion. Now, that diffused LED bar will act as a daytime running light, illuminating whenever your parking lights or those headlights have been switched on, and again, just gives these headlights a more modern look while still sticking to kind of that OE recipe. Now, transitioning into construction, and again, as I just mentioned, the LED bar options minus that bar, of course, do give off those factory Cobra vibes here thanks to the combination of both the black and chrome housing and that is then topped off with a crystal clear polycarbonate lens. I'm always a big fan of this combination sticking with a clear lens because it's gonna contribute to a more aggressive look with that black housing, of course, but at the same time, it's not gonna compromise your total light output during the nighttime like a dark smoke lens might. Now, finally, guys, here, these headlights are DOT-approved, making them legal for use in all 50 states. They do not include any headlight or turn signal bulbs, so just keep that in mind. You can either transfer them over from your stock headlights or always use this as an opportunity to upgrade to a slightly brighter bulb. Now, the headlights are fully adjustable. I always like to point that out because you can aim them properly after the install, and they are built to be a direct factory replacement, meaning they're going to install like the factory options might, and they're also just gonna utilize that two-tab mounting style.Switching gears, let's get into price here quickly because these headlights will live in that mid $200 range, which seems to be on average or on par with a lot of the other headlights in the category that maybe balance both the OE styling with some minor accent lighting. Now, some of the more wild Raxi and Halo options out there, for instance, will be more expensive at the end of the day. But honestly, guys, those lights are gonna be very wild in regards to appearance. It might not be everybody's favorite style at the end of the day. So again, I like these because they're still delivering a lot of that OE simplistic styling, but with a minor upgrade to kind of some of your bells and whistles. All right. Finally, guys, let's get into our installation here because that is what we do in every video for you guys at home. Site's gonna call this one a solid one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, about an hour or so to get in place from start to finish. Now, if you've never done New Edge headlights before, believe me, it's one of the easiest headlight jobs that you'll ever do on any car or truck. Two tabs simply remove the stockers, two tabs will reinstall the new aftermarket headlights here. There is some very minor wiring needed to get those daytime running lights installed, power, and ground pigtail here that you will tap into your existing parking light harness. So, not that difficult. And to show you a little bit more about the install, we're gonna throw it out to the guys in the shop for our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown.Man 1: For this install, you will need wire strippers and crimpers, and how we attach our wires you will need T-taps and male spade connectors. What's up, guys? Today, we're going to be doing some headlights on our Mustang, but before we get started we're going to send you to watch a short video on how to uninstall your factory setup, and we'll see you when you get back.Man 2: All right. First step here, what we're gonna do is look at these two pins after we pop our hood. So, with these pins, they're basically retaining the headlight into position. So, you're basically just gonna pull up from under them and pull those pins straight out. They're a little bit long, so you just gotta pull all the way up. Do that for both. And now your headlight's loose. All right. So, what we're basically gonna do is just wiggle this guy out. There's one harness and you see it just popped off, but if yours does not pop right off, it's basically just a pinch and disconnect and then you have one more on the corner here. And for this, you have basic locking tabs on the sides. You just pull up on the tabs and pull it straight off.Man 1: Alrighty guys, welcome back. Now that we've got our factory setup off, we can go ahead and transfer our bulbs and everything over to our new assembly because we will be reusing those, as well as doing a little bit of light wiring just to make sure our LED DRLs function on this new setup. So, we'll grab our factory light here, come to the back of it, and we'll start by removing our turn signal/marker bulb. So to do that, we're going to grab our connector here, just give that a quarter turn, counterclockwise or so, it should unseat itself. Pop that right out. Then for our headlight bulb, we're going to remove this retainer and do the same thing for that, just give it a turn counterclockwise, pops right off. And we'll go ahead and pop our headlight bulb out. We're going to stick our retainer back on there because our new one comes with one. And then we can set this aside. So, now on our new assembly, we can go ahead and grab our turn signal bulb again. Go ahead and seat that right into the new one, just as it was with the factory one. Give it a turn clockwise, lock it into place. Then we'll go ahead and get our retainer out of the way. Grab our bulb, go ahead and line that up, get that in place, and go ahead and reinstall our retainer. Give that a little turn clockwise, and lock that in place. Now once we have that done, we're going to need to go ahead and get our connectors onto our wires so we can hook our DRLs up. Now, your kit will come with some inline taps for your wiring. We found it much better and more convenient to use male spade connectors on our wires and T-taps on your factory side harness just because it makes it a lot easier to remove your headlights and unplug things if needed. You don't have to undo the tap and get new ones or anything like that. So we'll be using these. So we'll go ahead and grab our strippers and crimpers here, go ahead and strip away some sheathing on both of our wires here. And we want to go ahead and make sure we don't have any stray strands hanging out. We'll go ahead and grab our male spade connector, get our wires set into them. We'll grab our crimpers, go ahead and crimp this down, good squeeze.Once you have it crimped you want to give a little tug just to make sure you have a secure connection. We'll go ahead and do the same thing for our other wire. Once you have this done for this headlight you can go ahead and do the same steps for your other headlight. So now we are ready to go ahead and get our light on the car. And first thing we are going to do is hook up our wiring to our factory DRL wires. So we are going to take our gray wire here and as you can see we already have T-taps on ours. We will go ahead and plug our gray wire into the brown wire which is the DRL positive. Then our black wire into the black wire which is our negative for the circuit. We will plug those in. Tuck our access wires over here. Go ahead and get our connector plugged in here. Make sure that's nice and secure. Pull our excess wiring back. And we can come around front, get our headlight plugged in, and get everything tucked away, and get us set in place. So now we can go ahead and get our headlight connector plugged back in. Go ahead and slide that in. Now you see our tab is broken, but you should have a retainer tab that goes over this little notch here on your bulb. Then what we're going to do before we set this in place is you have your little ballast here. We're just going to tuck all that back into this opening. Now you do have the option, it does have 3M adhesive on the back, you can stick this up out of the way, kind of tuck it how you like it, make it your own. For demonstration purposes, we're not going to worry about that for ours. We'll get our side locators in. Go ahead, get our headlight pushed into place here. Now that we have this in place, we'll go ahead and grab our factory retainer pins. Go ahead and work these into place. Same thing for the other one. Then once you have this all done for this headlight, you can go ahead and repeat these same steps for the other side.Alrighty guys, that about wraps up our review and install of our LED Bar Factory Style Headlights with Matte Black Housings and Clear Lenses for your '99 to '04 Mustang. Thanks for watching. And as always, for everything Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
