NT555R Performance. The Nitto Extreme Performance NT555R is a D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial designed with maximum flexibility for the weekend drag racer. The NT555R combines a high grip compound and semi-racing construction to provide maximum traction at the starting line. The tire comes molded at 6/32 of an inch and features a unique reinforced belt package to provide improved traction and high-speed stability. The NT555R is the perfect performance radial for the street or strip.

Maximum-Traction Racing Tread. NT555R's are manufactured with the original tread depth of 6/32nds" and are constructed with a specially formulated soft racing tread compound to provide maximum traction. High block rigidity, soft compounding and large contact patch provide extreme dry traction in race conditions. Low void ratio and large tread blocks optimize dry traction.

Summer Track Compound. The NT555R's compound is specifically designed to provide maximum sticky grip in the warm months on the street and the track. A reinforced belt package further improves handling and helps to prevent against punctures for road use.

Application. The Nitto Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial is a unique ultra-high performance tire that's also D.O.T.-approved, making it perfect for any street/strip Mustang owner.

NOTE: This is a high-performance tire intended for use during summer months or warm temperatures only. Use during cold weather will greatly reduce performance, traction and handling, and greatly increase stopping distance. If using this tire in a drag or track environment during cold weather, we strongly recommend performing a pre-run burnout to nominalize the tread compound's temperature.

        5 Top Rated Questions

What is the average life expectancy (mileage life) for these? Particularly, the 275/60R15 I'm looking at? I don't have a very heavy foot (most of the time). I will take it to the Strip, once in a while (not every week, though). And, in Vegas weather.

        • Due to it's design as a competition drag radial, the NITTO Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial does not have a life expectancy/mileage warranty. These do have an extremely soft compound for maximum traction, and as such most daily drivers see between 15,000 and 25,000 miles, though we have seen numbers much lower depending on road conditions, how often the vehicle sees the track, and how large of a burnout is done to heat the tires up at the track.

What is the speed rating for these?

        • The speed rating for this tire is Y (186 MPH).

Would these fit on my '03 Cobra if it is lowered 1.4 inches in the rear? I have a set of 18x10 Saleens in the rear and was wondering if the radial would fit my car seeings how it is lowered. Thanks!

        • Yes sir no problem

will this tire fit on my 20x10 bullits? fit under my 07 GT? If not what is the largest i can go? The package came with 285s on the rear.

        • The NITTO Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial in a 305/35-20 will certainly fit on the 20x10 wheel. Depending on the amount which your vehicle is lowered and if any spacer is on the hub, it could cause some rubbing on the fender. If you could contact us at your earliest convenience, we would be more than happy to confirm the fitment on you specific set-up :)

Why don’t you recommend Nitto drag radials for daily driving?

        • These can be used for daily driving as they are DOT approved, however they are more suitable for track use. They are not appropriate for use in cold weather or poor conditions; such use will greatly reduce performance, traction and handling, and greatly increase stopping distance.

            These tires “HOOK UP”!!!

If you have a problem getting traction, this is your remedy. OMG!! My cobra was all over the road in first second and third gear. I slap these puppies on and that is no longer a problem. Incredible launches. I only take my car out on weekends and I just tipped 9000 miles on the odometer, so I’m not really worried about the other reviews on how fast these tires wear out.

            Nitto 555R

In my opinion these are the best all around tire for street use. They may not hook the best but do a better job than any true street tire. Other drag radials only last 2-3k miles but these will go roughly 10k miles. This is the second car I have used these for street duty and I have been happy with both sets.

            Very impressed

I have a FBO 2015 Mustang GT. Put a set of these 315/35 nittos on a few weeks ago. Tons of grip! Even in 50 degree rainy weather it hooked 100x better than the 275s that are my daily tires.

            Awesome Drag Rads

This is my 3rd set, my 2008 Bullitt is pushing in the 700hp range to the rear wheels. These are not everyday driver tires however, if you are a weekend warrior and need to hook up these tires are for you. As any high performance DRAG tires they are not for cold, wet or excessive road debris I.E. leaves, sand or gravel, rocks. I have a Tasca suspension and all thought these are drag radials they handle awesome in high speed curve driving as well.
