Justin: The pre-painted MMD side scoops here are currently the most popular and highly rated option on the site for all 2010 through 2014 Mustangs looking to add a little bit more of that retro styling reminiscent of the California Special. Now the scoops themselves are gonna combine the injection-molded ABS plastic-build with that pre-painted finish for red around 250 bucks. Now the install will be a straightforward peel and stick job, so figure a soft one out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter here and about 30 minutes to wrap up from start to finish. Now in my humble opinion, the S197s were the perfect embodiment of classic meets modern styling and because of that, retro-inspired parts like quarter window louvers or side scoops tend to work really well on this particular body style. Now the scoops that we have here, I would say are pretty tame overall and are gonna be extremely similar to what Ford installed on the factory California Special cars in this exact year range. Now construction-wise, as you can see there's really not a ton to talk about here outside of the injection-molded ABS plastic-build, which will be very lightweight and very durable overall. Now the kit will include two scoops, driver and passenger of course, which will install just behind the door on the rear quarters to kind of accentuate the lines on the side of the S197. And I have to say when installed the look flows very nicely and everything looks very clean. In addition to the scoops themselves, you are also receiving your little MMD care package here which is basically going to include, your instructions, your 3M prep pads and adhesion promoter, very important, and then finally all of your precut 3M tape needed for the installation. But aside from the basic design here, I would say one of the best parts about these particular scoops, if you haven't noticed already, is the fact that they have been pre-painted to color match your S197 at home like our deep impact blue options here. Now, guys, if you didn't already know, our state-of-the-art in-house paint booth sprays with the same base and clear coat that Ford uses on all of their Mustangs, which in turn just ensures a near perfect color match on your ride at home. And as I pointed out earlier, these scoops are incredibly popular here on the site with well over 100 5-star reviews and a ton of customers submitted images. So again, feel free to check those out on the site and to see how well the color matching does with different factory colors. But switching gears, let's talk about the installation as promised earlier. And again, peel and stick job here, guys, don't expect anything crazy like drilling or permanent modification. And to give you a better idea of what you're in for in the garage, here's that detailed walkthrough along with a quick tool breakdown. Joe: The tools used for this install were a microfiber cloth, detail spray, and a razor knife. So the first step of this install is going to be to prep the side scoop for installation onto the vehicle. I'm gonna do this with the provided alcohol wipes and the adhesion promoter. Now the back of the surface is prepped and clean, we can start installing the 3M adhesive.Next, using a microfiber cloth and some detail spray, I'm gonna clean the surface of the vehicle where the side scoop is gonna stick onto. Now I'm gonna use the alcohol pad and the adhesion promoter to do the final step before I install the louver. Next, I'm gonna peel off the corners of the 3M adhesive before I stick it to the vehicle. Now I'm gonna line up my side scoop with my body ones and apply it to the vehicle. Once I have a position the way I want, I can start peeling my tape back. Finally, I can apply some light pressure to make the tape stick. And that's gonna wrap up this review and install of the MMD Side Scoops for your '10 to '14 Mustang. Thanks for watching. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.

Here's the scoop!
Wasnt sure the subtle body line was gonna justify the price, but boy was I wrong! It changes the look so much and adds such a unique retro feel to the car. Easy install, just take your time with the 3m tape and go slow so the lines of the car match the scoop. I got the pre-painted Ruby red for my 2014 GT. Very happy with the purchase.Helpful (4)

Pre-painted Side Scoops
I looked at several different types of scoops before I chos these scoops. I had the shop put these on while they were doing my hood. These scoops change the look of the car. I would suggest these scoops to anyone wanting to put scoops on their car.Helpful (3)

Do these side scoops catch a lot of air?
No these side scoops do not catch a lot of air. I was wondering the same thing when I purchased mine. There is actually a small slot in them that allows a little air to pass through. They work and look great on the car.
Can netted inserts be installed in the MMD Side Scoops? I have a 2010 sterling gray V6 and recently installed the pre-painted MMD rear quarter window louvers (same color). I love the way they look and so do all my friends! I would like to add the side scoops and really liked the honey-comb mesh on other scoops that got "not so good" reviews. Does MMD make side scoops with similar mesh, or can I buy and add to?
Unfortunately, we don't have any side scoops available coming with mesh grilles for the openings similar to the Eleanor Quarter Window Scoops. You could certainly purchase some mesh at a local hardware store and make them fit with these scoops fairly easily. Hope this helps!
black or white Ok I need advice. I have a mustang thats the white with the black stripe near the rocker panel. Should i get these scoops in white or black? i have a black rear window louver and am going to put the side window louvers on also, which would look best for bothy side vents and louvers? black or white??
Its ultimately a matter of personal taste but if it were me, I'd definitely go with white, especially the side scoops. The quarter louvers are a closer call because you have the black rear window louver, but I've seen a number of pics over the years with black quarter window louvers on contrast colored vehicles and I'm not personally impressed with that look. On the other hand contrasting black rear louvers and color matched quarter louvers, seems to be quite a popular look and comes out reasonably well with many body colors and I would think that would be especially the case with a stang that is white.
What is the unpainted color, black or white?
They will have a matte black finish.
Hello I want to know if there is an imitation of black plastic grid,
They are indeed black unpainted from the start right out of the box.
Since the MMD Side Scoops do not feature a cover, there may be a bit of water build up between the car and the scoop. Though, there is enough room to fit a cloth to dry it.
These MMD Side Scoops do indeed come as a pair.
Unpainted products will need to to have their surface prepared for painting.
No. I have run mine through countless automatic car washes with no sign of coming loose.
Yes, completely hollow. However, the tape is flush with the edges, inside and out. Mine is silver and nothing shows. Besides, from a normal view point, there's always a shadow inside.
Hello, They are black but not painted. They look like plastic and I'm sure they will look terrible on your stang. You can buy these prepainted. That would be my recommendation.
No they are not painted underneath but because of the shape, the inside cannot be seen once installed.
Personal opinion only......contrasting the scoop color sort of defeats the purpose of making them look integral to the car. This would certainly be a novel approach but everyone's taste is different.....good luck!
I would do Black to match the vehicle - just my opinion - good luck!
No i have them in my 2012 mustang and they make no noise at all. They're supposed to be designed so that they dont make noise and so thay they look great for your mustangs style
