How to Install Power Stop Evolution Cross-Drilled & Slotted Rotors - Front Pair (94-04 Cobra, Bullitt, Mach 1) on your Ford Mustang

Step 1: Loosen your lug nuts, and safely jack the front end of the car up into the air. Place the car on jack stands and remove your front wheels.


Step 2: Begin by removing the C-clip that holds the caliper bolt in place. Some needle nose pliers will come in handy to pull it off.


Step 3: With the clip removed, lightly tap the back of the pin with your hammer until you are able to pull the pin out.


Step 4: Tilt your caliper up into the air until it is completely separated from the caliper bracket. Mount your caliper somewhere safe as to avoid putting a stress on the brake line.

Step 5: With the caliper out of the way, you can now go into the car and turn the wheel to expose the caliper bracket bolts. Using your breaker bar and a 15mm socket, CAREFULLY turn the caliper bracket bolts and remove them.


Step 6: With the caliper bracket removed, the rotors should slide right off. If there is a lot of rust, some hits with your hammer will persuade the rotors to come off of the hub.

Step 7: Place your new Powerstop Evolution rotors onto the hub (be sure to remember that they are side-specific). Carefully put the caliper bracket into position and using your torque wrench, tighten down the caliper bracket bolts to 85 foot/lbs.


Step 8: Remove the old front brake pad from the caliper, you may need the large flat-head for this. Using your c-clamp, tighten the clamp onto the old back brake pad to slowly push the caliper piston back into the caliper. Once you have fully compressed the piston, you can remove the other old brake pad.

Step 9: (Optional) lightly spread some caliper grease on the back of the brake pads to reduce an metal-to-metal contact noises and squeaks.

Step 10: Press your new brake pads into place, being sure to remember which one is the rear and which one is the front pad. Note: You may need to transfer the retaining clips from your old pads, they just pop into place without any tools needed.

Step 11: With the pads inside the caliper, push the caliper down over the rotor, and re-install your caliper pin and c-clip. Spray all of the parts with brake cleaner to remove grease and factory coatings
from the rotors.


Step 12: Re-install your wheel, and repeat this process on the other side.

Step 13: Start your car and slowly depress the brake pedal 8-10 times until it stops sinking to the floor.

Step 14: Complete the manufacturer recommended “Bedding” process to make sure that your pads will correctly bed into the rotors.
