Hey, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com taking a closer look at Power Stop's Z26 Street Warrior cross-drilled front and rear brake rotor and ceramic pad kit, available for '94 to 2014 Mustangs. Power Stop is a company that produces quality braking components with the goal of giving you increased stopping power for an affordable price. We've had some experience with Power Stop's brake package for the newer Mustang on our 2014 project car build, Project Coyote. And you can check out that build by clicking on the project cars and video tab on the home page of the website. While you're there, check out some of our other project car builds along with exciting Mustang news, and of course, more in depth product overviews. The Power Stop Z26 Street Warrior kit, as I mentioned earlier, is available for just about all '94 to 2014 Mustangs including the '11 to '14 Brembo equipped cars. Now this is a really cost effective kit, especially when you consider what you're getting. The Power Stop includes the front and rear cross drilled and slotted rotors, in addition to the brand new carbon fiber infused ceramic pads for all four corners. American Muscle also sells all of these same components individually as well, so you can pick up what you need without purchasing the entire kit if need be. Now that you guys know what's included, let's break down the components a little further starting with the rotors. Now as I mentioned earlier, you're getting two front and two rear rotors with the kit. And as you can see, they're both drilled and slotted. Having a drilled and slotted rotor like this will be beneficial because it will reduce the heat in your brakes that may lead to excessive brake feed after a few repetitive hard stops. The rotors have bevel drill holes to keep temps down during use, as well as rounded slots to help maintain a clear contact patch for the pad and the rotor. The rotors have also been silver zinc plated to help prevent any possible rust or corrosion, ensuring that the rotors will look good for years to come. And speaking of looking good, performance benefits aside, a set of drill and slotted rotors look killer. And they do add a more aggressive look to your Mustang, especially if you have a wheel design like the MMD 551C. Or a set of AMRs. Or Bullitts, for instance, where you can really see a lot of the rotor. In fact, you can head back to the site if you're not there already, to check out some customer- submitted reviews and images of this Power Stop kit installed on a wide variety of Mustangs. As for the pads, the Power Stop kit utilizes a carbon fiber infused ceramic pad, which will help you in a couple of different ways. For starters, the ceramic compound will increase the overall stopping power by allowing the pads to handle higher brake temperatures with less heat fade. The ceramic compound in this pad will also be quiet and produce less dust when compared to other materials, keeping your wheels cleaner in the process. As for the install, you'll need some basic hand tools along with a jack or a lift. Since you're tackling all four corners, it might take you a few hours, about three or so, to get the job done. The kit also includes all the necessary hardware making the install that much easier. One very important step. Whenever installing a new set of rotors and pads, it is very important to follow the manufacturer's bleeding process and braking procedures just to get the optimal performance and wear from your new setup. If you're looking for brakes that will keep up with your performance base driving at a very affordable price, then be sure to check out a Power Stop Z26 brake rotor and ceramic pad kit for your '94 to 2014 Mustang, available here at AmericanMuscle.com.

I have a 2012 GT and OEM rotors and pads now, with no rust on rotors. Does anyone that has had these on for a year and still not issues with rust. These look great in the pictures but I don't want to put them on and have them covered in rust in 3 months. Dave

Do I need to buy a cleaning spray for the rotors before I install them

theCity2001

  • When installing the Power Stop Z26 Street Warrior Brake Rotor & Pad Kit it is a good idea to utilize CRC Brakleen or similar to ensure that there is nothing on the rotor that can contaminate the pad. This could be oil from shipping, or grease from installation. Ensuring this is clean will help provide consistent braking and long life of the pads.

Is the rotor size overall diameter, the same on 2012 GT with out the brembo versus with brembo? Mine measure 13 inches. My new caliper bracket measures 2inches on center to the threaded hole, but my original caliper bracket measures 2 1/4. Wondered what i was sent regarding my new bracket from another company?

JoelS

  • The Power Stop Z26 Street Warrior Brake Rotor and Pad Kit is designed to replace non Brembo equipped Mustang brakes. Unfortunately we do not have measurements for the caliper brackets, but if the bracket is smaller, this may be one that was designed for the V6 which came with smaller brakes.

The first thing I noticed is that the product is from China. The components look much better than the factory setup , but I didn't notice any difference in stopping power. One thing for sure is they run very hot. If your original brakes need replacing this is a nice option , but if you are looking for extra stopping power, i would look elsewhere

    Amazing grace.

These brakes are definitely better then factory granted you have to hear them up a little before they really bite and stop. And they look great too. They will do great until I go to the six piston brembo brake kit.

    Too New To Fully Rate

This system seems to be great and I can definitely feel increased braking power when compared to the stock rotors and shoes. installation was fairly simple; plan on setting aside an afternoon to do the job correctly. Also make sure you follow the instructions to seat the brakes properly. Would give this more stars but since I just installed and don't even have 100 miles since the swap, the jury is still out as to how they will hold up long term.

Great Upgrade Over The Stock Setup

I'm writing this review relatively early, as I have JUST installed these rotors this morning (so take it with a gran of salt). Let's start with looks. These rotors look AMAZING! Pictures do not do this product justice. It really does make your car look like a race car. My only con about the product is that, at this point, they don't feel like that much of an upgrade as far as stopping power go. It is noticeable, but not to the point where you say (dang, these are crazy). I haven't broken in the pads and rotors yet, so hopefully over a short amount of time I will start getting my desired effect. Overall, this pack is well worth it. Just don't expect "big brake" performance out of them.

    Also works on V6

I have a 2014 V6 Mustang, and have these rotors. If you check other websites, you will see they are compatible. I also went with custom painted blue caliper covers to match the color of my car. Can't tell you how many compliments I get. SOOOO much better than stock, performance and look. Highly recommend.

I'm really happy with the performance of this kit. Instillation is fairly easy if you know what you're doing. Compressing the rear calipers is a pain.

    Fantastic

So first of all these don't have a big brake feel and they don't perform like it. They perform as designed. Smooth and consistant braking. Definitely better than oem but not a crazy amount. No noise or anything like that. Plus they look very good behind the wheels. Very sporty. I'm very happy with my purchase as always!

    Good, but not great

At first when I got these installed I was very disappointed. I had them installed professionally and expected to notice an immediate difference driving the car out of the shop driveway, but the brakes felt just like stock. It's seemed that over the past few weeks they've seemed to "break in" and I've noticed the stopping power increasing, so now I would say they're a bit stronger than stock but not by much. However they do happen to look very nice. the holes and slots look sporty and they shine and don't rust.

Power Stop Z26 Street Warrior Brake

I really feel the difference from the factory brakes, might be because I REALLY needed new pads or these are a great upgrade to factory. I got a call from the shop that installed the kit. He asked me if I wanted the rotors installed the way Power Stop labeled them or the correct way. He went on to describe how the slotted rotors should be installed and told me that this is a common issue with Power Stop. In the end I told him to install them the correct way. Meineke Auto Care did the work and the manager is a friend and fellow 9X Mustang owner, so I will default to his judgement.
