I purchased the Gen2 unit for my 2014 GT with factory Sync. The instructions are a little lacking. Specifically in regards to the mounting of the cdmi harness where the 12 v factory socket is. It shows an alignment slot at the top of the dash mount hole and mine has a tab. Mine had 2 tabs actually, one where the instructions show to cut off and then a second at 12 o'clock where the instructions show a slot. How does this install in that case? Also there were no instructions on removing the socket and it to me quit some time to get it removed. Turns out you really need a special tool to release the socket from the mount. This would be helpful info to include in the instructions. I have the hdmi mounted but it doesn't lock in place very well and will rotate because of the lack of alignment slot. any suggestions?

Where can you get the hdmi connector part?

  • To utilize mirroring with the Raxiom Gen2 OE-Style GPS Navigation you would simply need to purchase a cable with your phones port on one end, and HDMI on the other. These can be found at numerous online stores as well as local electronics stores.

does this unit use the factory mic or ami going to have to use an aftermarket plug in. I would love to use my mic that comes with my sync factory unit as it seems people can hear me well. Also, can I use the factory backup camera instead of the camera they give me. Would be a lot cleaner of install.

Raxiom Gen2 GPS, Bluetooth, SYNC and Camera

Installed this myself in about 4 hours in my driveway. Directions are pretty straightforward and easy to follow. It fits great and looks as if it were stock. However, the navigation freezes every now and again causing it to restart, the steering wheel buttons that control the radio work intermittently and the screen is hard to see when wearing polarized sunglasses. Other than that, the sound is good, the camera is great and using it is easy. All in all for a $700 purchase I'm not happy with it.

    Lack of Support

Bought this system in 2015, easy install, its works as advertised. It doesn't come with a user manual so, when its time to update the GPS maps - Good Luck! Its not Raxiom, its Rosen but, Rosen has contracted with Naviextras for map updates. The map update procedure doesn't work so - its the old "Run-Around" getting any kind of support. Been trying to get a map update for over a month, if anyone else has been able to get a map update - please help!

    Unit is ok, Sync sucks

Own a 2014 Convertible V6 Premium. Installation takes 4 hours including backup camera. The unit itself is ok. Screen is nearly impossible to see with top down, contrast and brightness needs to more upward settings. Backup camera is excellent, navigation system is good, It retains all SYNC functions without any improvement in interface. The phone works as before, no lost in quality and uses factory mic. The unit's interface is also lacking. The RDS text is small and gets lost in any background used. Satelite works ok but once again interface is lacking. I installed an ADVENT (AUDIOVOX) unit into a 2013 GM and interface / display was superior to this. Overall unit looks good but software is not up to others.

    Read before buying.

Received the item quick. Installation went well, a tip in the center console there is a blank plug, use that. But after install a month later the GPS would screen freeze. Now you have to pull over cut the power to reboot over and over. Then the touch screen out . The warranty is a joke. You have to email the company no phone number and American muscle doesn't stand behind it. Now the company wants you to remove the entire system. What a joke. Now I have a second one and the freeze screen happens every 15 minutes and it takes you sumplace not even close then it directs you to drive it circles so don't trust where it sends you. And how much are we paying for this system. 700.00 no refuses. stupid me. I shop at cjpony parts and other mustang places.

    DONT BUY!!

I've had 3 raxiom navigations over the period of one year. They all suffered from the same problem. Once it's older then 4-5 months the system would crash almost everyday, it would reboot constantly, it would freeze non stop and sometimes wouldn't even turn on. When it works music would only come out of the right speaker. If the system worked it would be amazing however I gave it 3 try's. I have replaced it 3 times and the same thing would happen. DO NOT BUY!!! It's not worth the head ache.

Takes time to get used to, hoping for the best

Installation was done by professionals and they still had problems due to vague instructions. Unlike a factory system which is virtually instantaneous on response to touch, this takes time getting used to. Start the car,,,be patient. Allow 10 to 15 seconds for system to boot up. The stereo, sat, cd and phone controls virtually effortless. Navigation is another story. It works perfectly once you enter your destination,,,but,,,you must take your time entering information and following prompts. Do not start pushing buttons to quick or radomly. Read the instructions with great detail and TAKE YOUR TIME. Seriously read the quick guide manual. Do Not assume you know how to use it. Also excellent customer service with live people that speak english at ROSEN the manufacturer. Ask American Muscle for the customer service number.

    Looks Great, Works Good

I got this because my back windshield is tinted way too dark to see out of at night, so I needed a back up camera. The install was way more intense than I was ready for. It took me about 6 hours, probably because I kept losing screws inside my console. The back up camera works great. It boots up really quickly when you put your car into reverse, and the camera itself looks factory on the back of the car. The screen looks really good in the console. I always thought it looked kinda weird in pictures with all the empty space on either side of the screen, but in person it looks great. I work from home and only drive around town about twice a week, so I can't really speak to how well the NAV works. But when I messed with it just to see if it worked, it was really easy to set up a route. The one thing I HATE about this radio is that it doesn't display song titles/artists for satellite radio. It's a small thing, but it seems like a feature that could have easily been included. We've had the technology since the 90's! Get with it, Raxiom! Also, like someone else already said, the weather app is a joke. But you're outside looking out of a giant window, so if you don't know what the weather's like, that's really on you. PS, turn your alerts off or you'll get a warning every time you go 4mph over the speed limit. It's like always having your wife in the car with you.

    Weather app

All around great addition to my mustang. Only down side is the weather app does not work. I called Rosen customer support and they said AM wanted the weather because a competitor had the app and wanted to compete but never updated it. So it just doesnt work.

    Not worth It

I got this to somewhat make up for not buying the tech package, but this has been so frustrating. The GPS freezes all of the time and never takes me the fastest route, I use my phone more than half the time which is one of the reasons I wanted this so I wouldn't be draining my phone battery. The Bluetooth almost never works for a phone call, I can at least play my music through my phone and Bluetooth, but I can't use steering wheel controls for that. It all just seems like things that could easily be fixed with an update for the software, but until then it pretty much just looks pretty.

    Nice unit

Owning a convertible I was already aware of the glare problem with the top down. It's impossible to see the sync screen on the factory radio so no big deal. Install was OK instructions not as detailed as I would have liked. The plug and play was really nice but the directions on how to do the little things that are really important weren't there. I was really disappointed with the online websites and the cost of updates. They need to also fix the problem with the speaker hop a free update would be great. But I 'm pretty sure that won't happen. But hey for the most part it does the job.

    Awesome when it worked

This unit made me smile like a kid opening up her/his favorite toy on Christmas Eve. The backup camera was my favorite. :) After two months, the screen would light up white and then black which got annoying driving at night. The radio was working fine. I hit the reset button (suggested by customer service), but that did not resolve the problem. As a result, I took it back to Best Buy geek squad (where I got it installed) to check the wiring and nothing was loose. I am very disappointed with this product because this is the second generation, so it shouldn't be happening. I know couple people had the same problem with the first generation.

Beware if you have a convertible!

Notice that all the videos of this unit show it in a dark or shaded setting. Looks nice and bright, right? Well, I have this unit, and with the top down and normal sunlight, I can barely see the screen due to the glare. If it's a bright day, it's fairly unless. The brightness adjustment is simply not bright enough. I called the manufacturer Rosen, just to see if any way to increase screen brightness. Nope. Can't see the backup camera either. Too dim to be of any use. Sure, this may be common to all convertibles. But I'm going to have to find one that works better than this one. Or perhaps have a custom sunshade made, but likely it won't look good. Oh well. But convertible owners take note!

Raxiom Gen2 - A week of mixed feelings

I absolutely wanted to love this unit. What it does well works amazingly, unfortunately the only addition over the base factory stuff that it does well is NAV. Fit and finish is perfect, everything lines up well and install was pretty much a breeze. No complaints there at all. Radio, Aux, and CD features all work as you would expect since they run off the factory stereo. The touch integration is nice, and hands free calls work decently. Obviously not as nice as Sync 3 but a good addition none the less. The biggest issues I have are with the audio playback. Both over Bluetooth and aux in the audio will shift to the front left speaker as the nav voice does, sometime for a second, sometimes for longer. It's startling and annoying especially when driving long distance. The lack of steering controls I knew up front, but what's not covered is the intermittent nature of the modes where they do work. I've had volume work sometimes and not others, and channel/track do the same on cd's and radio stations. Overall it's great if you want to add NAV or a backup camera, aside from that it doesn't add anything from an audio perspective. As much as I really wanted to keep the factory controls I chalk this up to a lesson learned and will be replacing the whole center with an aftermarket unit and a Scoshe adapter.

The radio has some crazy cool features but unfortunately because I have a gt500 and the shaker radio system it isn't an OE fit for my car but it'll definitely take any of the other mustangs to the next level as far as entertainment.

    Fantastic item!!!

I have been waiting so long for them to create a Bluetooth version and it's finally here! Everything fits perfectly and comes with everything you need including a bit for the rear view camera. Only thing I would change is the software to make it a little mor customizable like making the font a little better or the time a little bigger. Overall a great product!
