    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. Stephanie with and this is my review of the RTR upper and lower grille for the 2015 to '16 Mustang. This is the exact same upper and lower grille that comes OE on the RTR Mustang, so if you really dig that look, then this combo could be for you. And even if you're not too familiar with the RTR Mustang, but you're looking for something to upgrade the front grille and have a different, more of an aftermarket aggressive look as opposed to that stock look, then you might want to check these out. This grille does keep the general idea of that stock three window design, but it does it with a twist that squares off your middle portion more here and accentuates the sides a little bit more than the factory design. It does still keep the honeycomb design, but it's tighter than the stock honeycomb, and I think it generally looks better. This upper grille does eliminate that pony, though, which ends up helping to give a more race inspired appearance that RTR is known for. This is offered as a combo kit, both upper and lower grilles, for just under $450. Or you can buy the upper and lower separate if you don't want to spring for the combo. You're looking at just under $250 for the upper grille alone or about $200 for the lower grille. The install for these grilles is easy, a one out of three wrenches on the scale, but the time for the install's obviously going to change depending on if you're installing both upper and lower grilles or just one or the other. I'd say about two hours to complete both since both grilles are complete replacements. And you won't need anything special to complete the install, but you will be popping off that front fascia, so a jack and some stands might be nice just to elevate the car some.Getting the top factory grille out isn't as hard as you might think it is. There's a soft gasket that comes out with a little help from a screwdriver, and then you can remove the plastic clips that are along the edge. You can just the manipulate the tabs so you can pull the grille out, but be a little careful so you don't break anything. The new grille installs the same way that the factory grille came out. It just snaps into place in the bumper cover, and then the center bumper soft gasket goes right back in after the new grille. After that, it's just a matter of getting the front bumper back on the car the same way you took it off. After seeing these installed here on our own S550, I can tell you that the fit and finish is very much OEM-like. The grilles are lightweight but fit great and seem to be nicely done and sturdy. Wrapping things up here, the RTR upper and lower grilles add a little twist to the factory front grille to give the look that RTR is known for, a modern, aggressive race-inspired appearance. The grilles are complete replacements, and they fit great and even allow a little more air flow to the rad than the factory grilles do. You can check these grilles out more online for yourself. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at

Ready To Rock! Add the same exact Upper and Lower grilles that are included as original equipment on the Ford Mustang RTR, designed and developed by Vaughn Gittin Jr., to your very own late model muscle car for a modern aggressive race inspired appearance.

Improves Cooling. These RTR grilles not only add aggressive styling to your S550 Mustangs front end, but they also increase air flow to the radiator, when compared to the stock grille, for improved engine cooling.

Quality Construction. Designed using the original OEM CAD data from Ford to ensure a perfect fit, both the upper and lower RTR grilles are manufactured from an OEM quality high pressure injection molded high-strength thermal plastic olefin (TPO) material for its long lasting durability against the elements and the hazards of daily driving.

Application. These RTR grilles are designed to fit the 2015 to 2017 GT, EcoBoost and V6 Mustangs with the stock front fascia installed. The upper and lower grilles are available separately or in a convenient combo kit (select from choices above).

Technical Note. The RTR Lower grille is not compatible with Mustangs equipped with the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Please Note. The Upper grille is compatible with the RTR grille Lights. For all those customers who already own the standard RTR grille an LED Accent Lighting upgrade kit is in now available - please see the "Accent Lighting Only" option listed on part# 389944.

5 2015 EcoBoost - Nusstang Installation Time: Afternoon

I decided that I would get the upper and lower grilles as a retirement present to myself, and I'm glad I did. These grilles look awesome. I did get a wire mesh gutter guard to fill in the open areas to give a more finished look. It took an afternoon to cut them up and fashion them in such a way to be able to attach them to the backside of the grilles. The actual install of the grilles was 2 hours and 45 minutes by myself. I highly recommend watching the YouTube video about removing the bumper for '15-'17 Mustangs. The plastic material is not flimsy; it is very rigid. The fit was perfect. I highly recommend these grilles.

            Looks clean, no complaints

Had a grill delete and honestly didn’t like the look of it. Made the front end look unfinished and sloppy, not to mention fielding all of the questions like “what happened to your grill, where is it?”. So I decided to go this route with the RTR upper and it is much nicer than stock or a delete. Looks clean, no complaints. Install is easy but tricky if you’re solo and somewhat time consuming as well. Complete front fascia and bumper needs to be removed which requires finesse in certain areas that utilize plastic clips particularly where the bumper fastens to the fender. If you break them then you are definitely looking for a paddle in the creek we’ve all been in. There is some good YouTube on removal that should help make it easier. Take your time, good luck.

            Pass on this grille

I can't recommend this Grille at all. From a far it looks alright but when you get close you can see it's cheaply made and the areas on either side of the main grille are open and bare. The car looks like it's missing pieces. Now I am trying to find a solution to that problem. The material in the main grille is extremely flimsy and just looks cheap when you look at it. If it wasn't such a hassle to install I would order new grilles and sell these at a loss.

A totally new face for the Stang

This grill really opened up the front for more air and a more aggressive appearance. Excellent fit and finish. I would say, give yourself an afternoon to remove, install, and replace. Although not very hard - the hardest thing to do was to get the old grill out of the cover. I had to actually bend back the retaining tabs from the old grill in order to get it out. But after that smooth sailing.

            RaceMesh Grilles retrofit

RTR plastics are thinner and flimsier than OE. RaceMesh Grilles Stout Style Weave, stainless steel woven wire mesh, brought this RTR set of grilles to a higher level of appearance and protection for our customer.

Easy installation. Fast shipping. The sporty look is a great touch. Added airflow with cold air intake adds a little whisper when throttling. Sounds pretty sweet like a mini turbo has been introduced to system. Worth the buy for looks. No performance gains

            looks factory

While you have to take the front of the car off to put this item on it was not as horrible as it might seem. The suggestion to take the front tires off was a good one. Getting the clips to release off of the old grille is not fun but doable. It takes a little effort to push the clips through the new grille. Once done it looks very nice and fits really well.
