      Review & Installation Video

Hey everybody. Justin with americanmuscle.com here with my detailed review of the RTR side rocker panel splitters available for your 2015 and up Mustang. The splitters from RTR are going to be for any S550 owner out there who really enjoys what Vaughn and his team at RTR have done to the S550 in regards to overall styling and appearance and maybe wants to go about creating their own RTR at home or maybe just really enjoys what the splitters do by themselves. One thing I do really enjoy about this part from RTR is that, yes, it's going to make a statement visually to the exterior of your car, but it's not going to be over the top or gaudy like slapping on a big body kit might be. It's a simple and subtle part that, in my opinion, is going to add to the appearance of the car, but it's not going to hit you over the head. For those of you guys at home that really enjoy what Ford did with the S550 for the most part but maybe would like to add their own little touch, this is going to be a great option.Another thing I dig about the RTR splitter package here is that, yes, obviously they include the larger portion for the side of the car, but as you can tell, they've also thrown in the splitters for the rear bumper. Basically, you're getting four pieces in the kit here. What that's going to accomplish is carry that lower wider look that I think these rockers help achieve all the way down the side of the car and even carry that look into the rear bumper. One thing to point out, guys, if you don't have a premium package equipped car you might have to slightly modify the rear portion here as some of our customers have pointed out in the customer review section.Getting into the construction a little bit, you will notice a high-strength injection molded plastic for the build of the splitter itself. It has been finished off in the same textured black grain plastic as a lot of the factory plastic on the S550, so they look like they could've been a factory-installed part, or at least they're built that way. Another big thing to point out here, guys, no drilling or anything crazy needed when it comes to the install. Instead, you're going to be using the pre-installed 3M tape here on the splitters in addition to reusing some factory hardware, making it an easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. As for your tools, you're basically looking at a torque spit, a panel removal tool or a flat head screwdriver. Again, you are going to be working underneath the side of the car, so it wouldn't hurt to get the car up in the air slightly just to give you better access. Figure a couple of hours from start to finish to get all four panels installed. Again, guys, to wrap this up here, this is really going to be for those of you at home that enjoy the more subtle styling improvements as opposed to a full body kit or lambo doors for instance. You're making a subtle styling improvement to your S550 without totally going over the top. Be sure to check out the RTR side splitter package in addition to the rest of the RTR lineup for your S550 right here at americanmuscle.com.

5 2015 GT - MichaelN Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Got and finish

As usual RTR parts just fit plain and simple.. it is very easy to install and straight forward my car is low so I jacked up the rear and worked my way forward.. make sure you clean the underside of your stock side skirts so the double sided tape sticks I also installed a couple screws just in case..

RTR Side Rocker Splitter / Darkhorse Stang

Installed the RTR side rocker splitters on my 2015 GT. It took a little longer to install than claimed. I put push pins in addition to the 3M tape on the otter edge. I didn't want any issue with them coming loose a highway speeds. Plus I don't have a premium package so I had to modify the two pieces that went on the rear area...looked great when complete! Love it!

        3 2015 GT - AndrewC

Aggressive stance, not so aggressive build

As much as I love the RTR brand for my 2015 Mustang GT, this product lacks the build quality necessary to really shine from the rest that they have to offer. Don’t get me wrong, the look of these side rocker splitters are totally worth the investment, but any part that requires the use of 3m is a little sketchy to me. But it isn’t only the 3m tape holding it in place. The installation requires screws to be removed and reused for the new part which were a big pain because of how worn my old bolts were. Don’t ley This review persuade you not to purchase this mod, st the end of the day it looks great!!

        4 2017 GT - MB

        Very nice

They’re fairly easy to install. Look nice. It’s hard to envision how they will look until you got them on. I made a slight modification to the small factory splash shield on the back to allow it to be reinstalled with the RTR splitter. Nowhere on the instructions or on the product do they designate left and right so pay attention to that.

3 2016 GT - Rambler Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

Great look; Fitment not so much

The fitment on the sideskirts was surprisingly poor. I assumed RTR would provide quality parts since they design their own mustang but I was wrong. There is no way they can be held on by just double-sided tape and clips. At least not flush. I had to insert a number of screws into the stock skirts, which I really did not want to do. With that said, they do look great and will keep for however long they last before they fall off.

5 2015 EcoBoost - JohnM Installation Time: Afternoon

        It looks good.

The tape was terrible so I bought a plastic bonding paste. Also the pins become weak when you pull them out of the original skirts.

3 2017 GT - KimoT Installation Time: Afternoon

Grest product, but has some flaws

Overall its a great product but before you by these by new clips, when you take out the old ones you cannot reuse them, by more 3m tape to help support, for the rear instead of using the push pins by screws it will hold it much better. For installation prep they only give you 2 alcohol wipes and 2 adhesive promoters but to me they should have gave 4 each, 2 for the sides and 2 for the rear both sides being that there is 3m tape for everything.
