Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here with an easy an effective way to dress up your engine bay. Talking about this chrome under hood dress up kit for your 05-09 Mustang GT. Dress up kits are extremely easy way to transform your engine bay from factory, to show stopper in minutes. This kit is constructed from 100% billet aluminum and then is triple chrome plated and polished to a brilliant shine. Each piece is also conveniently labelled, and features a nice corresponding picture as well, to eliminate any possible confusion, also adds a nice little touch of detail as well. The kit consists of six individual pieces including the brake fluid reservoir, radiator cap, oil cap, oil dip stick, steering fluid reservoir, and washer fluid. Install should only take you about 15 minutes from start to finish, now I would like to mention that you can buy these pieces individually, but you’ll definitely get the most bang for your buck if you purchase the kit as a whole. When you compare the stock piece with this 100% billet piece the difference in quality and style is obvious. So if you’re a religious show goer or even if you’re just a casual modder who wants their engine bay to look as good as their exterior, then you’ll definitely want to check out this under hood dress up kit.

Show Winning Styling. Brighten up that dreary stock engine bay of your 2005-2017 GT Mustang with a bright Chrome Oil Dipstick Handle for a show winning look that will impressive all the judges.

I attempted to install this on my 2013 Roush SR3 Mustang but it will not seal properly. The ends of the handle contact the coil cover before it can go deep enough into the recess for the o ring to seal. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Will this handle, and your other chrome/billet caps for oil filler, washer fluid and coolant fit the 2002-2005 Thunderbird 3.9 liter V8 or the 2001-2003 Lincoln LS 3.9 liter V8? Thanks in advance. Philip

  • While most Ford items can be used across different makes and models, we can only confirm fitment for our items on Mustangs. If the Modern Billet Chrome Oil Dipstick Handle (05-17 GT) measurements match the dipstick handles found on the 2002-2005 3.9 Thunderbirds and the 2001-2003 3.9 Lincoln LS's than that may be a good match.

Great product, Nice Finish, Overall Very Very Happy

This product looks great on the engine. I had this done in about 10 minutes and would like to share some install tips based on others comments. To remove roll pin from original dipstick, put dipstick in vice wrapped with a towel. Use a punch slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the roll pin and tap easily with hammer multiple times until just about out. Remove dipstick from vice and use pliers to compress roll pin (Note: opening in roll pin should be in same direction and opening in pliers) and pull out of dipstick. Place chrome dipstick handle only in vice wrapped in towel. Hold roll pin and compress with needle nose pliers and tap part way into chrome dipstick handle. Now insert dipstick and tap roll pin until you just feel it touch dipstick. Move dipstick back and forth slowly while easily tapping roll pin until you see the roll pin go through the dipstick. Continue tapping until flush. Use punch to recess the pin slightly and your finished. NOTE: The only down side of the chrome dipstick handle is because it is made of metal, it retains heat longer than the plastic. I would suggest using a rag to remove dipstick after running engine to protect your hands. But the chrome look is worth this little inconvenience.

    Oil Dipstick Handle Review

Excellent product. Very easy installation. Just punch out the roll pin from your stock oil dipstick handle, remove the stock yellow handle, and reuse the roll pin to intstall this new handle. Has a great appearance. The fit (new o-ring) is a bit tight in the dipstick tube, but after a few removal and installations of the dipstick, it works great. I'm very satisfied with this item.

Just received dip stick handle...the key for me was a punch... make sure the punch is a little smaller then the pin head... put yellow handle in a vice... I placed a towel underneath the vice just in case pin falls... take the punch place on pin strike it a few times and trust me my brother pin will come out...it took me about 2 seconds for pin to come out... to install new handle i didn't put back in vice... I put a towel down on work bench folded a cornor to make level so when striking pin the handle its level... take new handle put on towel on folded cornor line up dip stick hole where pin gose through and handle hole... take pin place on new handle hole... strike pin with hammer it might take a few harder strikes so pin can start going down...when the pin is about 3/4 way down or so take punch place on pin tap to desire position... oil o-ring place dip stick back in place push down on handle so it's seats and your good...

    A bit of a pain.

It can be a pain to get the old factory pin out of the OEM dipstick. Once that's out its easy to put it into the Billet Dipstick.

Some more bling for the engine.

Getting the pin inserted correctly was a minor hassle, but it turned out fine with a few taps with a plastic hammer. The o-ring on the replacement handle was split, so I reused the original one. Tip: smear a little oil on the o-ring to get it to easily bottom out in the dipstick tube. (mine is a 2017, not a 2016, but the form doesn't include 2017)

    Chrome dipstick

Pretty nice, goes well with my other chrome pieces but its hard to see because of its location unless you are really looking for it. Semi-difficult to switch out unless you have a very small punch tool (which I didn't, had to use a knife). All things considered, 3.5 stars.

    5.0 oil dipstick handle

After reading all of the reviews of the oil dipstick handle, let's just say I was a little hesitant to make the purchase. I am definetly glad I did. It fits perfect and adds that last piece of shine to the engine compartment Iwas looking for, rather than that bright yellow dipstick handle. Installation wasn't as bad as it was made out to be in some reviews. It also seems that the manufacturer took into consideration the major complaint of the o'ring making it too tight. Well it fits nice and snug as it should and looks awesome...

    Extra Pin needed

Consider adding a connection Pin to the kit, just to make sure we have a back-up to the factory one. Messing up that rolled steel pin, getting it back in or taking it out, was easy to do.

    Billet Chrome Oil Dipstick

It looks good and fits good too. It is a little tricky to switch over from stock dipstick handle just because the pin is so small, dropping it sucks lol.
