    Review & Install Video

Hey everyone Justin with here checking out a part that’ll literally transform your ride with the push of a button. That’s right I’m talking about this push button ignition kit for all 2005-2010 Mustangs. This is the exact button used in the almighty Ford GT supercar, and now it can be used to fire up the engine in your ride for a very affordable price. As you can see the button features a brushed metal trim ring which really fits perfectly in the interior of your Mustang. Seems to be impressing a lot of you on the site as well, just about everyone mentioned how much they dug the cool factor of this kit. The button itself installs using the supplied harness and detailed instructions. Now the button takes place in your upper power outlet above the stock radio, so you will need to disassemble the dash slightly to get to the wiring. But there is no need for drilling or anything like that so it’s very straight forward and should take you about 2 hours. So if you’re looking to add a subtle touch of supercar styling and functionality to the interior of your ride, then you’ll definitely want to check out this push button ignition kit.

Push to Start. Now you can give your new 2005 to 2010 S197 Mustang the same cool Push Button Start Ignition system that Exotic Super Cars like the Ford GT come with standard for a fraction of the price.

Easy Operation. The Push Start Ignition Button allows you to simply turn the key to the "on" position and then press the button to unleash to the power of your pony.

Straight Forward Install. The Push Button Ignition kit easily installs in the existing Power Point located in the center of your dash with the included wire harness, so there is no drilling into your dash. The Push Start Ignition is possibly the coolest functional modification you can make to your pony's interior.

keyless??? Do you have to have the key in the ignition in order for the push button to work?

    • Yes, you have to have the key in the ignition in order to start the car. Just turn the key to the "on" position, and press the start button.

Is there a way to bypass the need to use a key?

    • There is a way to bypass the ignition lock, however, it can get very intuitive. I would not recommend bypassing the ignition, as anyone could easily start your vehicle, if they can get inside.

I have the push button start on my 06 gt for years but recently it struggles to start the car (similar to a weak battery). When I use the key, the car seems to fire up normally. Does this make sense, any ideas how to fix? Thanks for any help you can offer.

    • Hi,I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your Push Button Start Ignition Kit sound like there could be a loose connection or maybe some corrosion on the connections.

2 questions...please help 1. if the car is being driven and something hits the button or a silly passenger decides to hit, will it turn the car off or is the key the only way to turn the car off?? 2. if the button is pressed twice. will it be like turning the car on AFTER its already on?

    • As to Q1, if someone hits the button, it will not turn off the engine. The key still has to be in the steering column and turned to the on position. As to Q2, Yes hitting the button after the car is started will be like trying to start the car again, Depending on the age of the car it will do one of two things, reengage the starter motor (Bad Thing) or Nothing at all. Some newer cars have a safety installed that prevents the starter from engaging once the engine is running. I have not tried this with the Mustang, so I do not know if that will happen. Best bet is to not hit the button again once the car is started.

Great product! The instructions are very straight forward and makes this install easy for anyone! Only complaint I have is when I got the wiring where it states you need the “Green” and “White” wires on your ignition connector I did not have a white. Mine ended up being solid yellow! (08 GT). Overall very pleased!

      cool mod- confusing instructions

Was a pretty easy install until we got to the wiring. Instructions said to splice into green wire and white wire. My harness (07 GT) had the green wire, but not the white one. I called AM tech support, but despite their efforts were unable to help me. Suggested I reach out to Ford dealer, which I did, but neither the parts counter nor service dept. could/ would help. I ended up looking at an install tutorial on AM from another user, who said to use the green wire and the wire on the other end of the module, which in my case turned out to be a solid yellow wire. Spliced it up and test fired before putting everything back together. Fired right up. So- if anyone else runs across this issue, it seems that if you use the two wires on each end of the module, then should work fine. I dont know if this was a miss by the button maker or if Ford had some extra yellow wire laying around so they subbed it for white on my car, but it was frustrating trying to figure it out. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars.

      Push starter button

Didn’t use... after I purchased it I thought about how much it didn’t make sense to have to get on the car to push button to start , when it takes same amount of time and energy mljust to pit key in the ignition. When you all come up with keyless remote starter for older models (05 and earlier) let me know.

Looks good but has a flaw.

The installation was pretty straightforward and easy and the first few weeks it worked fine. But then one day I went to start my car with the button and when I pushed it in, it didn’t go back up, it just stayed down and I haven’t been able to fix it.

Read about how the printing start engine wore off with time. I took mine to sunout window tinting and they put clear 3M plastic over button. Love this mod

      Good but needs improvement

Delivered quick, install was easy. however the writing part of the button is not secure and tends to spin around a little with every push which requires you to keep adjusting the letters straight. Also it would help if it had a light on it for night time starting.

Would of gotten 5 if the writing didn’t fade. Other than that amazing. I recommend clear nail polish protective coat over it or a clear sticker to preserve the writing.
