Perfect Clutch Feel. Your 2011-2014 Ford Mustang GT or V6 with a manual tranny comes with a high rate clutch assist spring that can cause a vague and difficult to modulate clutch. Solve this by replacing that stock spring with the Steeda 95 lb/in.

Clutch Spring Assist. Resilient Construction. Steeda uses piano wire in the construction of this spring because of its high tensile strength and elastic qualities. These qualities bring consistent spring rates and minimal sag, even after repeated use.

Smooth Operation. Some owners remove the clutch assist spring to get an easier to modulate clutch, but that can damage the slave cylinder over time from constant pressure from the clutch pedal. The best solution is to replace it with the Steeda clutch assist spring.

Easy Installation. The clutch assist spring is easy to install and takes about 30 minutes. It completely replaces the stock 200 lb/in clutch assist spring from the factory.

Application. The Steeda 95 lb/in. Clutch Spring Assist fits 2011-2014 Ford Mustang GT and V6 models. Steeda covers this product with a lifetime warranty.

      2014 Mustang GT

The remove of the OEM spring was not difficult. Remove the cruise control switch at the top, remove the retainer clip on the side, shake and pull the pedal shaft out and pull the clutch towards the seat. The vise grip version of this remove did not work for me. My spring was red and I have not seen that. Install of the Steeda spring was easy. Just put the assembly together, slide the bottom white piece on, compress the spring by hand by pushing and let the spring release under the clip on top. The clutch has a quick release now.

      Outstanding

This little spring made a huge difference in how engaging and enjoyable an S197 can be. I've had M3's, Mustangs, Cudas...quick daily drivers, dragsters, autocrossers... and my 2011 gt is the first time I've ever wanted more clutch pedal firmness or feedback. This spring didn't stiffen the pedal very much but it now has the feedback that you'd feel in any other car allowing more control of the whole car when in play-time mode. Should have been the very first thing I did to this car.

      Be careful

It gives the clutch pedal a nicer feel. Much easier to feel clutch engagement/disengagement. Slightly heavier than stock spring but not enough of a difference to matter. BE CAREFUL taking out the stock spring. It's very easy to break the center shaft of the assembly (which I did). The only place I have found that sells a new clutch spring assembly kit is Steeda and its $80. AM not sure why you guys sell the spring but not the assembly. You guys should really stock that item as well. Even though I broke the center shaft off I put the assembly back in with 35 lb spring and took it on a test drive to see if it would hold. Many redline power shifts later it's still working and staying in place. Unsure if I'm going to ante up the $80 or just go with it until it fails (if it ever does). There are several YouTube videos on installation, but again, just be careful when trying to pry upper bracket off. If you flex the assembly sideways at all you'll brake center shaft of assembly just like I did. Be sure you're prying it straight down. Besides my disassembly mistake, I really like it. Best $20 upgrade you can get for your mustang.

Feels about the same - easy to install

As many other MT82 owners experience, I was having my clutch pedal hanging partially depressed after a quick or high RPM shift. Since this was cheap and easy, I tried this first. There are a couple of really good videos that show how to get the plastic clutch assist spring retainer out of the pedal box - you're going to want to reference those. A partner to hold down the clutch pedal for re-installation is mandatory. Hopefully you're good friends - your head is going to be at or near their lap. If you get it right, this is a 10 minute install - but be prepared to fight with it - and TAKE YOUR TIME. You do NOT want to break the plastic part. I still have the issue, however - the clutch pedal still occasionally not return to the top. My next step will be a stainless braided clutch hose.

      Love It!

Whenever I shifted gears at above 7k RPMs the clutch would sometimes get stuck on the bottom, this clutch has helped tremendously with that, only thing is that it has a little bit of a dead spot at the top of the clutch but i dont even notice it anymore, only noticed it the first couple days, for 20 bucks would highly recommend to anyone with a high horsepower stang!

This fits on a 2018 GT

Not sure why the years matter in these springs. I bought one from a local shop because the 7022 steeda was mismarked. It fits perfectly on the 2018. The compression ratio for the steeda 2018 is 35 lbs/in. I would think any spring between that and the stick 185 is fine.

      Better Clutch Feel

I installed the Steeda spring using a vice grip. It took about 15 minutes. The vagueness in the pedal is far less than before. Not bad for a few bucks.

      Improved clutch feel

When I ordered this item, I immediately removed the stock spring while I waited for the steeda spring to ship. I drove for about 3 days with no spring and then installed the steeda. I like the heaviness of no spring but the steeda spring made a very linear push. Both were huge improvements over stock. The best part of this modification is the removal of the weird deadzone from stock, starting at about 1/4 push through about 1/3.

      Worth it

I should have installed this clutch spring years ago… I’ve been driving my 2013 since it was new… And always thought the clutch was just too heavy… As soon as I installed it and took it for a drive… I noticed the difference immediately… The spring should have been on the clutch as a stock spring ...It’s a perfect fit with a very smooth feel… Easily a five out of five stars… Very cheap both on upgrade and worth every penny

      Easy Install

I never write reviews, but I feel this product deserves one. Clutch pedal feel is 10/10 better over stock. Took just myself and 10 minutes in my garage to throw it on. Would definitely recommend to anyone debating on buying one.

      Worth the peace of mind

Removed the oem spring and liked the feel, but was worried after reading about clutch cylinder leaking. Installed this spring and think it feels better than without and it didn't cost that much.

      Steeda clutch spring

The Steeda clutch spring came in within 5 days, which is about the average time of arrival. Right out of the package the spring is noticeably thinner due to the reduced spring weight. The package also comes with color instructions; however, they are not needed as the installation is very straight forward. The install took about 10 minutes with a helping foot to depress the clutch. There is a tiny bit of play at the top of the clutch, but it isn't enough to bother me. As for performance, it makes rowing through the gears at high rpms much more consistent. I hightky recommend this part to anybody that wants a more linear clutch feel.
