Perfect Clutch Feel. Your 2011-2014 Ford Mustang GT or V6 with a manual tranny comes with a high rate clutch assist spring that can cause a vague and difficult to modulate clutch. Solve this by replacing that stock spring with the Steeda 95 lb/in.

Clutch Spring Assist. Resilient Construction. Steeda uses piano wire in the construction of this spring because of its high tensile strength and elastic qualities. These qualities bring consistent spring rates and minimal sag, even after repeated use.

Smooth Operation. Some owners remove the clutch assist spring to get an easier to modulate clutch, but that can damage the slave cylinder over time from constant pressure from the clutch pedal. The best solution is to replace it with the Steeda clutch assist spring.

Easy Installation. The clutch assist spring is easy to install and takes about 30 minutes. It completely replaces the stock 200 lb/in clutch assist spring from the factory.

Application. The Steeda 95 lb/in. Clutch Spring Assist fits 2011-2014 Ford Mustang GT and V6 models. Steeda covers this product with a lifetime warranty.

            Awesome clutch upgrade

Purchased because I did not like my clutch pedal feel when shifting high in the RPM. This spring cured the problem and now I have a great feel when shifting. Easy install, was just a 10 min in and out. Cheap and easy and should have come from the factory like this instead of that stuff spring that drove me nuts at the track.

Good, but not much difference on my car

On my 2013 Mustang V6 that I bought new, I am not sure I notice any difference. I bought this because of the many glowing reviews of improved performance, and I was curious to see what benefits a $20 product could provide. But maybe not all stock springs are the same. My clutch was working fine and I had no issues or complaints to start with. Now, after changing to the new Steeda spring, the clutch still performs perfectly, but I haven't really gained anything. When I compared the two springs together on the bench, using an unscientific test of squeezing each spring by hand, I noticed the Steeda spring was maybe a little softer, but not much. I also noticed that my stock spring did not look like the stock spring in a customer photo on this site, nor like the photo in the instructions that come with the Steeda spring. The stock spring in those photos appears to be of a heavier guage, have one more coil (5 instead of 4), and actually have a reverse coil direction (left hand vs right hand) compared to my stock spring. My stock spring actually looks more like the Steeda spring in all those regards. It was also pretty easy to remove and replace my spring, which could point to my already having a lighter stock spring than other people that had difficulty, or even broke their mounts. So maybe if you have a stock heavy spring you will have a noticeable improvement with the Steeda spring, but if you have a stock spring like I have, you may not notice any improvement.

Nice product, but Instructions are misleading

Spring did change the clutch feel somewhat, but not as much as expected. AM's Installation instructions were very misleading. Even after reading multiple forums and watching several YouTube videos, I still broke the guide rod on my factory perch mounts. The needle-nose Vise Grip trick doesn't work. Read other forums - you'll see. So angry at being mislead by overly simplified instructions that I sent spring back, and purchased different after-market perch mount/spring combo.

            No More Sticking

I was having trouble with the clutch sticking to the floor if I shifted at redline. This got rid of 99 of it! I recommend getting a partner for the install to depress your pedal.

            95lb clutch pedal spring

I own a 2014 Mustang GT pedal would stick to floor sometimes at high rpm 1st to 2nd, and it would be hard to shift from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm. This spring fix my problem makes my clutch pedal more sensitive to feel very well worth the money I had heard so much about replacing this replacing that which would’ve been hundreds of dollars and this was a $20 spring that fixed my problem. Very happy with this purchase fast shipping

Allthough this 95 lb spring is great, The kit that includes the improved plastic mounting parts by Steeda is a much better deal. Jim

            Steeda clutch assist spring.

My factory spring was broke in two, so I cant give a accurate comparison. Took 5 minutes to install by myself, start to finish. Clutch feels smooth from top of travel to bottom.

            Better than expected

When i purchased this clutch pedal spring, i had recently just installed a blowfish bracket and trans mount insert which made an awesome difference. It turned the car into a different beast of a car in a good way, so i was hesitant to put the spring in because i was happy with my new setup. The install was so easy i decided to put the spring in and im glad i did. The clutch pedal is better feeling and more intuitive without being weak at all. When slowing down, Down shifts are easier and smoother with less riding the clutch. Pedal just over all smoother. Good buy and upgrade for the budget modder like me.

            The way it should be

I am very pleased with the linear feel, and the slightly increased effort this spring gave me. It is not too hard, and I have little to no “dead spot” at the top of the pedal as I’ve heard complained about. Do it, it makes a better working clutch altogether.

I removed the stock spring but didn't like the slop in the clutch peddle, Installed the Steeda spring, very impressed with clutch feel, Installation was quick and easy. Low cost mod for sure.

The remove of the OEM spring was not difficult. Remove the cruise control switch at the top, remove the retainer clip on the side, shake and pull the pedal shaft out and pull the clutch towards the seat. The vise grip version of this remove did not work for me. My spring was red and I have not seen that. Install of the Steeda spring was easy. Just put the assembly together, slide the bottom white piece on, compress the spring by hand by pushing and let the spring release under the clip on top. The clutch has a quick release now.

            Outstanding

This little spring made a huge difference in how engaging and enjoyable an S197 can be. I've had M3's, Mustangs, Cudas...quick daily drivers, dragsters, autocrossers... and my 2011 gt is the first time I've ever wanted more clutch pedal firmness or feedback. This spring didn't stiffen the pedal very much but it now has the feedback that you'd feel in any other car allowing more control of the whole car when in play-time mode. Should have been the very first thing I did to this car.
