How to Install Steeda Alignment Kit for BMR IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit (15-17 All) on your Ford Mustang

Tools Required
  • 13mm socket and ratchet
  • 21mm socket

Installation

1. Lift and support the car, by the chassis on a vehicle lift, or on jack stands. Do not place the jack stands underneath the rear sub frame.

2. Place a jack underneath the sub frame now, to support it independently from the car. (Place a jack underneath the front of the sub frame while working on the front 2 bolts, and place a jack underneath the rear of the sub frame when working on the rear.)

3. Locate the main sub frame bolts. They are blue, 21mm hex head bolts. Loosen, but do not remove both rear sub frame bolts. The bolts need to be loosened enough, to give the sub frame about one inch of drop in the rear. See figure 1.

4. Remove the 4-13mm hex head bolts (2 on each side), securing the front sub frame support bracket to the chassis. See figure 1.

5. Remove the 2 front main sub frame bolts and the support brackets along with the BMR CB05. See figure 2.

6. Install the front sleeves into the sub frame. With the bolts still inserted into the support bracket, insert the bolts through the sleeves, and start the bolts back up into the chassis. See figure 3. The bolts will only go into the sleeve in one direction. The counter bore of the sleeve needs to go towards the head of the bolt. Do not tighten them at this time.

7. Remove the 2 rear main sub frame bolts. See figure 1.

8. Install the rear sleeves into the sub frame. Insert the bolts through the sleeves, and start the bolts into the chassis. Note: In order to get the rear bolts started, it may be necessary to insert a pry bar, or other suitable tool, through the alignment holes in the sub frame and chassis, to help position the sub frame into place.

9. Once all 4 sleeves are installed, and the bolts are started, torque the 4 main sub frame bolts to 129ft-lbs. Torque the 4-13mm bolts to 41ft-lbs. Reinstall the BMR CB05 bracket.

10. Verify all hardware has been tightened, and lower the car. Enjoy!

Note: An alignment is necessary the first time these are installed.
