Limit IRS Differential Movement. If you like to drive your GT Mustang aggressively on the street or at auto cross events you may find the factory Independent Rear Suspension is in need of a little extra help. It is know that the IRS differential of the 2015 to 2019 Mustang's is notorious for moving under acceleration, hard braking and even during spirited driving. This excessive movement can cause a laundry list of handling and traction problems, including differential deflection and wheel hop. However, by upgrading to a Steeda IRS Differential Urethane Bushing System you can considerably limit the movement of your S550 Mustang's IRS to improve traction and handling performance.

Street and Performance. Steeda engineered their IRS Differential Urethane Bushing Insert System with Street and Performance drivers in mind. This Steeda IRS Bushing Kit includes two different options. The red 80 durometer bushings are for the Street use. While the black 90 durometer bushings are intended for Performance driving. As an added bonus these urethane bushings will not increase the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) of your ride.

Straight Forward Installation. The Steeda IRS Differential Bushing Insert System is designed to install with just basic hand tools in under an hour. No extra modifications or special tools are needed for a straight forward installation. Seeing that no permanent modifications are required you can switch between the two different durometer bushings as your driving needs change.

Application. The Steeda IRS Differential Urethane Bushing Insert System is specifically designed for use on 2015 to 2019 GT Mustangs that are equipped with the factory Independent Rear Suspension (IRS). Not for use on V6 or EcoBoost models.

      Stay planted

Bracing the rear subframe and replacing IRS components helped ride quality. Still found myself hopping and breaking loose on the track till I installed these bushings.

      SOME IMPROVEMENT

I installed the black ones on my 17' GT Convertible. I used jackstands. At the same time I put verticle links. The best way to describe it is it feels more solid and seems to bite more but once it lets go the whhel hop is still there. It is tight working space with the exhaust on but you can work around it. Have swivels and extensions. Also if you have a convertible you must remove the chasis brace.

      IRS bushing inserts

Really feel the difference in the ride. A little stiffer and helps with wheel hop. There are other products to add to this to if you want to entirely prevent wheel hop. A good first step. If you use your car as a daily driver and only occasionally race at the track I recommend the red bushings. The black ones make your ride really hard and best used for track time.

      Nice and tight

Installed along with IRS bushings and IRS subframe connectors. Did it all on jack stands on a Saturday morning with a friend. No more wheel hop and the power really lays down to the road. I’m happy with the results.

      Awesome!

I’ll start by saying. Go with the black bushings. You’re not going to feel the difference from a comfort stand point but you will feel it during acceleration. These are absolutely worth the price.

      Good but not great

I'm using the black diff inserts. Installed at the same time as Steeda RLCA bearings. Car feels noticeably more willing to pounce. I take off for it because it comes at a price. These inserts have made the transmission for clunky, particularly on downshifts. I've been told by Steeda this is normal. Product works but not with NVH increases. I could take it or leave it but leaving them for now at least. All in all the noise doesn't bother me that much.

      Increase in noise

I installed the RED on my 17' GT Manual trans. There is a lot more noise after installation, specifically drivetrain slack is amplified.

      Suspension upgrade

Bushings fit perfectly. On a 2017, install is a headache for the front bushings. Leave one rear subframe bolt in but very loose, take the other 3 completely out while supporting subframe on a floor jack. Subframe can then be pivoted and wiggled around enough to get a wrench in. Alternate rear subframe bolts and repeat process for the other side. This is the only way it can be done. Just go with the black bushings because you're not going to want to do this twice. I'm not sure what all the complaints about NVH are all about with the black bushings on a street car. The whole point of suspension upgrades is to take the slop out. A Mustang is a muscle car. If you want quiet comfort, get a Lincoln Town Car. These, combined with the rest of the Steeda suspension parts, make the car feel like it gained 50 HP now that the power isn't twisting the rear.

Wheel hop gone (combined with vertical links)

I installed these and BMR vertical links at the same time while changing my exhaust. (you really need to remove exhaust to make install easier so this is a good upgrade to do at the same time if you upgrade exhaust). Had a shop install looked like it took them about 40 min (with the exhaust already off) Between these and the new Vertical links my wheel hop is almost gone or at least reduced to the point I don't notice it. I paid for 3.5 hours of labor (100 per hr) to have exhaust, Vert links, and these installed all at same time. (bill sheet was 1 hr for me but if you were doing these alone I would expect to get charge 1.5 hours as they will probably pull exhaust and then reinstall)

      Pretty good

I have a 2015 Gt 50th anniversary performance pack. I notice a difference in the rear, stiffened up a little bit. THE from differential bushings would not fit in place though.

      Not what I expected

Installed the black bushings first (2016 GT performance pack 6 speed) along with the Steeda IRS bushing support system. Wheel hop definitely reduced but it was not gone. Still very noticeable on the drag strip. Amplified all sorts of new noises. Horrible vibration noise when letting off the throttle above 40 mph. Only got louder at higher speeds. Odd deep grrr sound when doing a sharp turn at low speeds. So I swapped to red bushings and removed steeda irs support bushings. Installed red. Noises reduced. More wheel hop ofcourse but still reduced overall. Overall the car shifts much better. It used to have a loud thump if I'd swap gears too quickly before I installed bushings. That's the only reason I'm leaving them in at all. I think the noises were just existing noises being amplified and I will have them looked at. Still only 3 stars because I still clearly have wheel hop. (Other mods: Steeda subframe braces and vertical links)

      Stop the hop

I was back an forth between using the red and black ones I take it to the track. But decided to put in the red ones anyway. Pleased to say the hop is gone and I can't hear any diffrence. I left it lose 1st threw 3rd. No more hopping feeling like the car is going to break. To be fair I did install the subframe bushings and lowing springs at the same time. It's a 2017 but won't give me the option 4 that below.

      Help Stop the Hop

As always American Muscle was fantastic with its customer service, and crazy fast shipping! Steeda quality is unmatched and worth the price! I installed the red inserts because my mustang is my daily driver and the difference is huge it truly does help stop the wheel hop, really nice fitment as well. Install is a little tricky and I would absolutely recommend having help! Besides that 5 out of 5.

      This fixed the hop!

I have several Steeda parts on my car but this is what really stopped all the hop in the IRS. I used the firmer of the two bushings. It does allow for some nvh to be transmitted into the car but for me its a livable exchange.

Reduced wheel hop with a catch.

I installed these with the Steeda subframe bushing support rings and both hav greatly reduced wheel hop. However the rear differential is a bit louder in the car while driving at highway speeds; I used the softer red bushing supports. Install was a true pain in the butt with a jack and jack stands but it can be done. You need to remove the exhaust to install these. Fit finish and quality are great!
