factory spoiler removal? Can i removed the Factory spoiler and still have a succesful install? My factory chin spoiler is damaged so i would like to remove it and apply the new chin spoiler. would i have any issues?

    docsalas

    • It goes over the factory spoiler so it will not work if your factory one has been damaged. Mine got ripped off ('12 V6) so I'm either going to have to go back to factory or do the GT MOD. $$$

How much lower is this spoiler compared to the stock spoiler? Just wondering if this spoiler is a lot closer to the ground than the stock spoiler? From the photos it does not look to much lower than stock.

    Godzukidan

    • No it's not closer to the ground. It's practically the same height as the stock spoiler. Also, this attaches over the stock spoiler so you don't have to remove them. Make sure surfaces are clean where it will adhere to, as instructed in the installation guide.

Is it possible that American Muscle could paint the Chin Spoiler for me? I'd really like this chin spoiler to be pre-painted to match the finish of my car. Can American Muscle do this for a fee? Thanks!

    Quikstang

    • Sadly at this time, this Stillen Chin Spoiler can only be shipped out in it's unpainted form. I'm sure a local shop around you could do a great job painting this for you though. Sorry about that!

      Aggressive look for a V6

Love the way it looks. Gives it an aggressive look. Only bad think came in with some scuff markers on it. But not to bad if your gonna end up painting it.

      Looks Beast

My nephew wanted this for his Stang. He thought it would make it look Beast as he put it. And I have to admit, it does. Easy to install and almost a perfect fit. Gives the front a whole new look.

      Chin Spoiler for 2011 Mustang

The spoiler looks nice, the fit is a 9 out of 10, the corners do not fit as flush as I would like and there should be more adhesive tape in those spots to help with the fit/gap. Easy to install

      Easy install and great fit

Box came in perfect shape so I'm not sure what happened in previous reviews. Large box. Spoiler was not folded like some others have mentioned. I live in NY so I received it from AM the day after I ordered it. Amazing. The finish on the piece itself isn't the best. Came with 2 light blemishes so I would certainly plan on finishing it however you like. Comes with about 8 small screws and the double sided tape is already preinstalled. Fit right over my v6 pony package tiny front spoiler. Certainly recommend using all the screws to have it sit flush.Overall very happy with the piece. Just wish it came with a better finish. Love the aggressive look it gives. It's actually alot lower than I thought it would be so just have to be careful going over speed bumps and driveways.

      Aggressive Front Bumper

The Stillen Spoiler is as good as advertised. It gives your end a really aggressive look. It is a great option if you don't want to spend $700 to $900 on a Gt bumper. I have a 2010 V6 Mustang. A word of advise is if you get the Stillen Spoiler only use car wash bays or a hose at home to wash your car. The automatic washing machines are not wide enough to handle the Stillen Spoiler and could cause some damage.

      Stillen splitter

I received my Stillen Splitter in 3 days. It arrived in good shape. The quality is good. It had no scrapes or scratches. The fit is good with some minor trimming with a file. I installed it in less than a half hour. It looks great on the car.

      Chin Spoiler

This is a great item to purchase. The package it was in was protected by heavy foam and boxed very well. Be prepared to spend a little extra on delivery charge since it's packaged in a very big box. Took to auto shop, received very positive feedback as we held it in place. His suggestion was to do it right and paint it. So I scuffed it with scotchbrite pad and then primed it. Let that dry, then painted it matte black to match the other trim around the car. Fits right over existing spoiler, gives my 2010 an aggressive look in front, and overall stance.

      Slick Looking Chin Spoiler

I haven't installed this chin spoiler yet but I plan to this weekend. I've called the body shop where I have all my body work done and have been told this installment would take less than an hour. But I will say that it looks very very good and stylish. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade or replace their previous chin spoiler.

      Not what I expected

It came in a large box folded, taped up multiple times. The were many imperfections. I was expecting to just install the part. Had to scuff, sand and paint the part. Still could see the imperfections. Installed and was asked by others if the part was used. Removed it which was easy as the two sided tape didn't stick to the spoiler at all - but it sure did the car which I am still trying to remove. Going to try to sand all paint off and fill the bad spots and repaint. If that does not improve the looks just going to throw it away.

Love the look but wasn't shipped well

First off love AM, however this part may look awesome it wasn't shipped well at all. It has marks all over and scrapes but all will go unnoticed once painted so it isn't that big of a deal to me.

      Stolen Chin Spoiler

First off the chin spoiler does look good and the fitment is ok... I cleaned all the paint and plastic pieces very well then went over them with the adhesion promoter and then lined up the spoiler and peeled the tape back and stuck the spoiler on. Only about half of the tape stuck to the paint so as the next step to screw the 5 screws into the bottom I did hoping that it would bring the tape in more against the paint and it did not. Almost seemed like the spoiler was too big for the car cause it did not fit well at all. I'm very very upset because now I have holes in my front bumper!

      V6 chin spoiler

The directions that came with it were very vague. Went onto the site and there is better instructions, but they didn't mention that the new spoiler fits over the stock one for install. Figured it out though. The tape doesn't stick perfectly in all spots so we had to drill an extra screw onto the top of each side that I ended up painting black afterwards. Definitely a good upgrade from the small stock look, but would be nice if there were more options for the 2010-2012 v6's for chin spoilers.

      Sleek Chin Spoiler

I was iffy about purchasing this product over designing my own, but I'm glad I made the purchase. Really pulled the front end of the car together and gave it the look I was searching for.

      Don't freak out!

Don't freak out! When this product arrived I thought there was a mistake. It was shipped in a radiator support box that clearly wasn't long enough for the chin spoiler. When I opened the box, the chin spoiler was in there FOLDED IN HALF! That is actually good news. This is a soft urethane which is very flexible so if/when you do bump something, there's less chance of damage. I simply laid it out flat on my floor for a day and it straightened right up. This is normal un-prepped urethane. To remove junk from the molding process, release agents, grease, etc, I first cleaned it with a Scotch Brite pad and a good cleaner. Afterwards, I cleaned it with Dupli-Color's Prep Spray and a lint-free rag. Then I prepped it with Bulldog adhesion Promoter, Dupli-Color makes an adhesion promoter as well but I already had this in the garage. Then I painted it using several thin coats of Dupli-Color Black Flexible Bumper Coating (FB105). The color and texture came out great! I don't see a difference between it and the factory black side skirts. I'm not sure where the idea came from of removing the factory chin spoiler but I wouldn't and didn't see it in the instructions AM provides. This fits right over the factory chin spoiler, it even gives it more support. I think others that removed the factory chin may have a problem with it being weaker. The only thing I did different on the install (which was VERY easy) was I bought some #10 x 3/4" self tapping hex head cap screws from the hardware store to replace the thin little screws they provided in the kit to provide more support. It's holding up great and looks FANTASTIC! I also added the Roush side splitters which were also very easy to install. They both really look like they should have come on the car new and look great! If you look very close at the spoiler right after the center part where it curves back, there is a very small gap there but with the screw in the fender well (factory), the screws added to the bottom and the 2-sided tape which was pre-installed on mine, it is very strong and not going anywhere. You can't see the gap until you get down a couple feet away. For that reason only I rated the fit at 4/5 stars but it still fits very nice.

This is a great appearance mod!

This chin spoiler took a day to prime, paint and clear coat. Install time was less than an hour. This is a massive improvement from the stock spoiler and should be the first appearance mod you should consider.

      Better than stock

My stock spoiler was all beat up so this did the trick and covered up the old one. I like not having to take off the old one I makes installation easy. The fit was not perfect in a couple of spots so a little black silicone window sealant filled in the gaps and looks good. I also used one extra screw right in the middle, close to the front which pulls it tight to the bumper. I recommend painting it before installation for the best look.
