Improves Handling. Improve the ride and handling of your S197 Mustang with a Tokico D-Spec Adjustable Strut & Shock kit. These Tokico Shocks and Struts change both rebound and compression damping simultaneously for a greatly improved ride quality.

Adjustable. Tokico's D-Spec Adjustable Struts and Shocks are the result of sophisticated piston and valving design. Also, their damping specific adjustable struts and shocks utilize a unique variable-aperture bypass, which is controlled by an adjustable slide valve. The variable tuning range makes it possible to use D-Spec for street, auto-cross, drag racing, or even road racing.

Kit Contains. This 2005-2010 Tokico-Spec Adjustable Strut & Shock KIT includes: Two Tokico D-Spec Adjustable Front Struts, Two Tokico D-Spec Adjustable Rear Shocks, and One Tokico D Spec Adjuster Knob.

Application. This Tokico D-Spec Adjustable Strut & Shock Kit is designed to fit on the 2005-2010 V6, GT and Shelby GT500 Mustangs.

How does this improve your et How exactly does this improve the weight transfer? How do you set them correctly to acheive this? I would imagine you would want the fronts to extend quickly to transfer the weight to the rear so intern how would you set the rear? Does anyone know the proper terminology here and experience? Are you just adjusting stiffness, rebound here or ratios?Thanks


  • Yeah you would want to adjust them so that you get rear end squat under acceleration forcing weight and therefore more traction on the rear wheels. On double adjustable struts/shocks you would want the fronts to have a light rebound and high compression resistance. This means it is easy for the front to move up but harder to move down. On the rear you want a light compression and high rebound resistance meaning and that there rear and easily squat but takes more force to come up. No idea on what the ideal ratios are this is something you have to trial and error for yourself.

    Get with Eibach Pro Kit

    I lowered my 2009 convertible using Eibach Pro Kit. It really dropped it, looked great, but the ride got very old, very quickly. I waited a year however before getting these Tokico D-Specs. OMG! They are everything I wanted. I keep mine at 5 turns all around for daily driving, down to about three turns for fun cornering and up to seven turn (max) for long trips on the highway. Outstanding!

    I have a 2005 mustang gt with ford racing springs, and if you want a stock like ride with lowering spring there is no other answer, getting these are a must. With the settings on full hard it was still less bumpy than stock shocks with lowering springs. On full soft its like driving a caddy. No shock are strut can outperform these on full hard, none!

    Tokico D spec ON BOARD

    Just had the D specs installed yesterday. I noticed much improved ride with my Ford Racing Springs (-1") and the setting for Street.Didn't know how bad my OEMs were. And the winding raod to work this morning was WAY more fun!!!

    Tokico D-Spec Adj Shocks & Struts, stock springs

    This product was a great bolt on replacement to a stock item that wears out. With a spring compressor you can probably install this yourself. Make sure to torque down all bolts appropriately and have replacement Front Shock Mount Brackets, Ford part# 18183(AD-1044), on hand to replace your old ones used inside the front struts to hold the upper end of the spring. I enjoy the aspect of being able to feel to road one day and ease out the bumps on others with a simple adjustment using the included key chain tool or equivalent Allen key.

    Best Shocks Ever

    Best shocks Ive ever owned. Stock shocks had about 70,000 miles on them and were really starting to show their age. Even with all other suspension components still stock, the ride/handling difference is amazing. The range of adjustability is perfect. You can go from nice and comfortable (still not even too much body roll) to circuit track firm (you feel every bump) in about 2 mins. The adjustment key is really neat and nicely labeled, and I cut small holes in my trunk liner to make access to the rear shocks easier. Overall great product. It took longer than I expected to receive them but thats only because they were out of stock. AM was very helpful though at answering my questions regarding the delay, and shipping to CA only took 3 days once they shipped.

    These are amazing, if you lower your car you need to get these. A very noticable difference my 07 GT rides better then ever, so much smoother. There are no better shocks/struts

    Better ride than stock

    About 6 months ago I installed the Ford Racing suspension on my car and found the ride to be to harsh for the condition of our public streets in California. I immediately noticed a difference in the ride with Tokico D- Specs the car takes the bumps and pot holes much better.

    From Street 2 Track

    I adjusted the D-specs from Street setting to Road Course and took a class on Road Racing at Texas Motorsport Ranch. The 'Stang performed great, the Tokico's held the lines and let me take corners like never before. I didn't know my GT could handle this good!

    yep it's no shock at all how awesome the Tokico adjustable shocks are. I wanted to install lowering springs so I did my homework and read that upgraded shocks should acompany any lowering spings installed. everything I read about the D-Specs was true. Great shock/strut package for the price. If you have or plan on lowering your mustang. GET THESE SHOCKS. Y will not regret it!!!!!

    Excellent ride. Easy install. Fantastic purchase.

    I had been planning a 1" drop and after reading so many reviews, I realized it would have to be all or nothing. I decided to go with the D-specs as a result of the reviews on The other buyers described these shocks as having exactly what I wanted. I'm happy to report that they were 100% correct. The ride directly out of the box is so noticeably different and better than stock. These are on my daily driver, and I can take corners on my way to work without rattling my teeth over bumps. I combined these with the Ford P-springs and a set of J&M camber plates. The stance of my car, the adjustability, and the overall ride and driving satisfaction made this purchase perfect. My only regret is that I waited so long to make this improvement. If you're on the fence about buying these...don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed.

    Great product handles like a dream

    Improved Performance Overall

    You really can't beat these for the price, and AM offers the lowest price out of their competitors not to mention that they were shipped promptly. These have helped my car's handling tremendously. My stock shocks just weren't cutting it, I would bottom out constantly; the D specs cured this. Believe it or not these shocks improved my shifts! my car used to dip between shifts with the stock shocks and mess up my timing, not anymore!

    Whats not to love about being able to decide how your car feels?

    This shock and strut kit far superceded my expectations. I am totally pleased that I can control what I want my suspension to feel like. I have an entirely over hauled suspension. And if you lower your car don't do it without these shocks and struts or you will regret it. Your ride will feel like bricks without them. These added the perfect touch to my springs and my control arms. I've been riding with them on full hard along with the HR Springs, J&M control arms, steeda ball joints and bump steer kit. Let me tell you there isn't a corner I fear and not a bump that Im afraid will throw me out of the seat. These will complete your lowered setup or non-lowered car to whole new level. And the caddy ride on soft is awesome!

    Amazing set of shocks and struts!

    These are perfect. You can adjust them for any driving style, installation is easy especially if you're doing springs too. I keep mine on the middle settings with my P springs and I handle so much better. Plus the ride quality is still good. Bumps don't want to break my spine.

    Adjustable is the only way

    What I don't understand is the people who say don't get adjustable shocks because most people set them and never touch them again. To me that's the whole point. Instead of getting locked into one setting and having to live with it, get some D-Specs, find your setting, and roll. I added these with Eibach Anti Sway Bars & Pro Kit. On firm the car is like a go-kart. On soft the car is smooooth but still handles better than stock. Minimal if any body roll or nose dive. Make sure you get the trunk adjustment extenders so you can adjust the rear from the trunk. AM doesn't have them but Google them and buy a set for 20 bucks.

    What a relief!

    Like many, I desperately needed to lower my Mustang since I have no plans to go off-roading in it.... I asked if I needed to replace the shocks/struts for better matched dampening with the Eibach Pro lowering springs. I was told no, the stock struts/shocks are fine and the ride is good. I actually lived with it like that for a few months until I heard the ride could be much better. I don't have a spring compressor or I'd have done the install myself. I had a shop do the install for $250. I have them set at 5 turns off full hard and love it! I think it's obvious that when people say "Caddy smooth" they are exagerating. The ride is MUCH better, almost to stock comfort but the handling with the lowering springs is fantastic! If you want stock comfort, leave it stock. If you want great handling and good comfort, this is a grreat setup. The adjustability was a HUGE plus for me. I like the ability to adjust the firmness in general as well as front to back for understeer/oversteer. As always finding the part on American Muscle was super easy and the selection is great, I love the web site, I always come here first. Shipping was super fast, 1 day for me living pretty close.

    D-Spec rocks

    I bought this package because the factory dampers combined with Eibach Sport springs punished my wife and I on longer highway trips. The D-specs gave me the option of softening up the ride for when needed but still having the damping for track days. The install went easily although the front struts are drilled to give more negative camber. Be sure and install alignment bolts or an adjustable top mount so you can set the camber where you want. The range of adjustment is wide, the combination of low mid and high speed damping is better that factory. The only thing keeping these from a five star rating is they are not monotubes, and my '07 GT BEGS for montube shocks to calm the rear!

    great ride quality

    Great product, performs as advertised. These struts really improved the ride quality of my mustang. I had installed lowering springs a couple of weeks ago and loved the looks, but did not like the harsh ride.These struts allowed me to keep the look and gave me ride quality as good or better than the factory spring/strut combination. I would recomend these to anyone with a lowered car
