Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with and I’m checking out some of our AmericanMuscle Graphics Lemans stripes options available for all 2005 and up Mustangs. Lemans stripes originated on the race track back in the 50s and later Carol Shelby used them on his race cars as well. Eventually they found their way over to the production model 60s Mustangs, and of course the Shelby GT cars. These lemans stripes from AmericanMuscle Graphics are available in either an 8 or 12” width, and in your choice of either black, matte black, silver, white, red, or blue. All of our AmericanMuscle Graphics have been constructed from high quality premium cast vinyl, which will last for years without fading or peeling. Secondly, every one of our vinyl designs is test fitted on our own cars first, before being sent into production, ensuring a perfect fit on your ride every time. The install will take a little time so just be prepared, I will say that working with any vinyl can be a little tricky but we make it a little easier for you by breaking this kit down into three separate panels, and by including some very detailed instructions along with the kit. Before you get started, you will need some essential tools, of course we’ve got the soap and water mixture, a razor exacto knife, the included squeegee, some painters tape, and maybe a pin or a needing just to release any excess bubbles. This kit does require a lot of patience when it comes to the install, so that’s why we’re calling it 6 hours from start to finish, but don’t be upset if it takes you a full day. So while other cars might try and sport lemans stripes, I think there’s no denying they look best right here on a Mustang. So with that said, check out one of our many lemans stripes options right here at

Classic Lemans Styling. Give your Mustang the classic styling of yesteryear with a set of Gloss White Lemans Style Stripes. These AmericanMuscle Graphics Gloss White Lemans Stripes will look great on any model Mustang.

Perfect Fit Guaranteed. AmericanMuscle Graphics vinyl designs have been test fit, refined, and tested again on our very own fleet of vehicles to assure a perfect fit every time.

Superior Quality Materials. AmericanMuscle Graphics uses only the highest quality Premium Cast Vinyl available on the market today - designed to last at least 8 years of harsh outdoor weather. It's far more durable than our competitors' cheap, calendared vinyl film which starts to degrade in just a couple of years!

Application. These high quality AmericanMuscle Graphics gloss white vinyl 12" Lemans Stripes will fit any 2005 to 2014 Ford Mustang, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, and Shelby models.

stripe color? i am getting the smoked headlights, tail lights, quarter lights, and front turn signal and i really like the white stripes but im not sure if it will go well with the smoked you know if it looks bad or good or just better to go with black stripes?

  • The Black 12in. stripes is what I put on my '11. I like them with the smoked headlights, however I have to warn you. Do not let them get wet without a means of drying them and when you get through putting them/having them put on, DRY THEM OFF. I made the mistake of letting them sun dry in Texas. Just no. As for the color you should choose, if you've got all those smoked/dark items then you should definitely choose the black stripes. Hope this helps!

Are these 3M products

  • The White Lemans Stripes - 12 in. (05-14 All) will not be a 3M product. This is a American Muscle graphic which is a Oracle product.

what would be the best way to install the stripes if i have the Cervini's Pedestal Wing - Unpainted (05-09 All) spoiler for my 2006 v6 mustang

  • I would highly recommend removing the spoiler/wing for the application of the vinyl on the trunk. Then I would apply the vinyl after installing the spoiler/wing back on, to ensure that the vinyl on the car and the spoiler are centered with each other.

I have a V-6 2007 with a head scoop. Will the the instructions tell me how to put them on dealing with the scoop area?

  • Yes, both installation guides we provide on the product page for the White Lemans Stripes - 12 in. (05-14 All) will come with detailed instructions on how to install the stripes properly, including some instruction on the hood scoop area.

Does it mess up paint? If i want to take the stripes off later down the line, will it mess up my paint? Also, do these stripes chip easily after a while?

  • It's a vinyl overlay that if applied properly will look like it's painted on. If you ever want to remove it in the future you can, it won't damage the underlying paint. Just keep in mind the paint under the vinyl will not age at the same rate as the surrounding paint as it will be covered and protected from sun, etc. As for chipping, the vinyl is very good quality and will resist minor chipping.

will these work with the clear plastic rock guard on the hood of the car?

  • Yes it will work, but I strongly recommend you don't put it on top of it. That rock guard is designed to be replaced after so many miles. I would remove it and put the stripes down. You can put it back on after or leave it off because the stripes will have some degree of protection.

    12in. White Lemans

The actual product is great, and they provide you with enough material that (if you're conservative and careful) has enough left over to fix any mistakes should you make them. That being said, "easy" is an overstatement and "2 hours" is an understatement. Getting these to line up perfectly alone is a huge pain, and will take a lot of measuring, remeasuring, marking, and remarking. I screwed up the hood pretty bad, thankfully I have enough material to re-do it should I chose to. I'm currently waiting for the rear to dry which I'm hopeful came out better, and will then move onto the roof (lining it up with the rear, since that was probably done better). I DEFINITELY recommend having an extra pair of hands for this. Another thing is that because this is "one size fits all," there are certain areas that are troublesome. On the 2005 Mustangs the curves on the rear force you to cut up the strips into sections, and if you've never done a project like this before, it's VERY hard if not impossible to get perfect cuts compared to the car's body. Bottom line: Great quality product, but the promise of a quick and easy installation is only true if you've done something like this before. Tips: Spray the strips with the soap/water while peeling the backing off, as well as the body of the car. You can never use too much spray, but you can definitely use too little. You may want to cut the double strips into singles, using the grid on the back as a guide, and then apply the stripes one at a time. I found this to work well on the rear.

    Not good

I took these stripes to a detail shop and they could not even start the installation. The stripes were delivered with massive wrinkles that were impossible to get out. I figured that they were just air bubbles but when I took them to the shop they said they were wrinkles in the actual vinyl that could not simply be pushed out with water. Very disappointed.

Well, they certainly shouldn't have arrived with wrinkles throughout - my apologies for the inconvenience. We can get a replacement set of stripes shipped out for you!

    not good

The reason why I rated so low is because its very difficult to go around all the bumps on your car. I think I would have been better off buying a precut stripe kit!!

    White LeMans striping kit

We recently installed these on my 06 GT and I'm very happy with the results. Top quality product and looks almost painted on. Word of caution, thee install is not for a novice or first timer. My friend who did the install, has a great deal of nearly Pro level experience and it took 3 days.

    2011 Sterling Gray Shelby

In 2013 I purchased a 2011 Sterling Gray Shelby.. The Shelby when originally purchased had no stripes... This year I decided to put stripes on it.. After trying to purchase the stripes through Shelby (in excess of $2,000), I decided to purchase the 12" white Lemans Stripes through American Muscle... A friend has a 2011 with the original stripes, so after careful measurements and patience, I now have stripes per spec at a fraction of the costs, and the looks of the Shelby changed dramatically ... Thanks to AM !!!! I will post a photo of the finished product....

    Nice Appearance Mod

This is a great product if you're looking to change your Mustang's exterior appearance. After getting these stripes put on my Mustang it completely transformed the car! The price for these stripes are reasonable and fit perfectly. I had a shop put them on and it cost right around $100 for labor. I would definitely recommend this product. Thanks AM!

    New stripes

My 2005 V6 came factory with white racing stripes that began to crack and fade with the weather over 8 years. I bought this kit and had a very reputable shop install them for $325. After seeing the new stripes I was amazed at how bright the color was. The shop said the stripes were great quality and installed no problem install time was 3 hours and 30 minutes. PS- Make sure you have a reputable shop install these stripes, remember paying an extra 100$ is better then having crooked stripes stuck on your hood from a low end shop.

    Awesome product, awesome look

Great product. Got the product in the mail, and realized that some of it was crinkled the first time, so contacted AM, and they sent me a whole new kit. Had enough left over to do the whole car bumper to bumper. Makes my car get plenty of looks on the road.

    Great product

Got the stripes delivered on time to get the car done by the clients deadline. Adequate product for us to use a practice before we got it down. I think it's a bit thin but installs nicely and we used a heat gun on low to help out the curves. Price was right on as well. Thank you AM.

Great Classic Look For Your Stang!

When I first bought my stang I knew that it had to have white stripes since it is red. After searching for a while I finally decided on these 12 in. Stripes because I wanted them to stand out and they certainly do! I decided to do all of the work myself instead of paying almost twice what I bought the stripes for to have them installed. Even though I had no previous experience with vinyl and putting on decals I took my time and made it looks perfect like it came stock. The instructions were very helpful and I took my time doing each section of my car. Don't worry if you mess up either!!! The striping included gave me more than enough to make a couple of mistakes (which believe me I did)! Overall when I was finished it was amazing and my car is a whole new animal now. Every time I see a red mustang like mine without stripes it looks naked lol.The stripes were top quality and you will not be disappointed with the outcome!

Good Looking, Hard to put on

The stripes are a nice touch but are hard to put on the car. It took me all day to install and the results were not the best. The stripes are hard to apply to anything with curves like the bumpers, which are extremely hard to do. They give you a little extra material in case you make a mistake but don't risk it, if you don't know what you are doing use a shop to install the stripes, saving time and effort

    Absolutely Recommend

They came in a large roll, cut into three sections. After cutting for the lengths I needed, I still had plenty of extra left over. They were applied easily and stuck well. It took some effort to get the stripes to conform to the curves and bends in some areas (i.e. the bumpers, trunk, ...), but the effort was worth it and they look GREAT. I get compliments all the time about them, almost like I bought a new ride! Definitely a weekend project if you want it done right, and make sure you've got all your tools for the job before starting!

    Looks great, hard installation

Very time consuming. With my OCD of it needing to be perfect, took way longer than expected. Took a few days to get perfect, but looks really good. Hard to work with because it's not stretchy like normal vinyl wrap. Well worth it though.

    worth the patience

I had the 10 in. lemans stripes on my '14 before buying these to replace them. truth be told i ordered the 12 in. thinking i was looking at the 10 in. ones but it's a mistake i'd happily make again. as long as you take your time with putting them on, and make sure you have some painters tape down to help keep you straight they go on fairly easy. the front bumper is a bit tricky, and so can the spoiler/wing if you have one. best advise for those pick your locations for seams as close to a sharp bend or edge as you can to help keep your stripes straight and minimize the appearance of the seam. They give you enough extra in the kit to where you can botch the hood once, (twice if you only botch one stripe) and still have plenty to do the job. Ultimately, for the $$, its one of the most profound appearance impacts you can get! and yes, i know they don't make the car go faster, but you could swear they do once you step back and take your first good look at the completed project!
