    Review & Install Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin with and I’m checking out these unpainted quarter window scoops for your 99-04 V6 and GT Mustang. These quarter scoops are a great way to add classic Shelby GT500 styling to your New Edge Mustang. Now again these scoops are unpainted so you’ll have to take them to your body shop or paint guy to have them primed, and color matched to your ride. Kind of like what we did with our GT here, once they’re done, they look great. Everything you need to install the scoops is located in the box, of course we’ve got the scoops themselves, the vinyl inserts, the instructions, 3M tape, and probably the most essential part of installing these scoops is the 3M adhesive promoter. Now the 3M adhesion promoter is very important when it comes to installing these scoops, you want to go ahead and wipe it around all the edges where your 3M tape goes to ensure a nice tight bond. Installation time shouldn’t be too bad, about 30 minutes. If you’re looking to add that classic Shelby flair to your ride then check out these quarter window scoops, available for your 99-04 V6 and GT Mustang.

Aggressive GT500 Styling. Now you can give your modern new edge mustang the aggressive styling of the classic Shelby GT500 with a set of Quarter Window scoops.

Quality Materials. These Mustang Quarter Window Scoops are made of reaction injection molded polyurethane for a virtually unbreakable part that can handle the everyday bumps and abuse that other cars suffer from.

No Drilling. No drilling or messy fiberglass is required for installation. These scoops install easily with the supplied 3M doubled sided automotive bonding tape.

Application. This pair of Xenon Quarter Window Scoops are designed for use on all 1999-2004 Ford Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and SVT Cobra models. Sold as a set of two, one driver side and one passenger side.

Fitment Note. Bullitt and Mach 1 models will require minimal trimming for proper install due to the slightly different rear window.

Technical Notes. The Quarter Window Scoops ship unpainted. We recommended test fitting all products before they are painted. AmericanMuscle also recommends professional installation of all body parts.

So I put them on my 02 Gt and I put the driver side on kinda crooked... (It was my learning stage) but I didn't know if there was some way I could remove it and readjust it

    • What you can do is take fishing line and slide that between the car and the Quarter Window Scoop. This will cut the 3m tape. After you have removed the Scoop, simply clean off the tape from the car. Just be aware of what chemicals you use to clean the tape off the car, just to ensure that it will not harm the paint.

Anyway you guys could sell these pre-painted? I like these ones better than the MMD quarter window scoops these ones have a longer-looker and slimmer tail and look great!

    • Unfortunately at this time, we can only prepaint the MMD style. These can only be shipped in their unpainted form.

I really won't to get these but my car is a metallic silver and it's really hard to match silver or gray is it possible to get them to exactly match? And will these fit for my car because these are sortve pointed and my back windows are curved like?

    • Yes, these will fit your car. As for the color match, as long as you take it to a reputable paint shop around you locally, they should be able to match the color without a problem! I would suggest calling around to several places, if you don't already have a particular place in mind, to get a feel for which place you trust most.

If i own a stock black mustang, will these need to be painted? or will they look good as is

    • These do ship out black, but they're just a black plastic, not the same color black or finish as your car. For the best results, you should really get them painted!

Are Your Sure U Want This?

First thing you will notice is that for being 2 rather simple pieces of hard rubber they are rather expensive. Once you look at it closely and see all of the pits and blemishes all over the surface you will realize just how grossly overpriced they really are. NO, they don't come primed and ready for paint; you must either do all the prep work and paint yourself or take it to a shop. Either way it will probably end up costing you more than what you paid for the scoops to begin with (if you want a quality paint job). Trust me, it's not easy to deal with all of the little pits and imperfections. Unlike your oem scoops, these are not held in place with pins and rely on 3m tape to be held in place. This being the case, it is absolutely outrageous that Xenon will not even provide you with enough tape to mount them on your car!!! YOU WILL HAVE TO SPEND MORE MONEY AND BUY AN EXTRA ROLL ELSEWHERE. I must also note that the adhesion promoter pads seem to etch your paint. I had to sand and polish the paint afterwards. I hope you aren't so picky otherwise you will really go through some frustration when you try to place them on your car. THEY WILL NOT FIT YOUR CAR PROPERLY. Even though they recommend that test fit them before you paint them, it is impossible to see exactly how they will fit without actually taping them on your car. I had a miserable time pushing, pulling, and nudging them into place to try to get them to look descent. I still had to fill some unsightly gaps with some black auto grade silicone. See if you can find a some kind of screen that you can cut and paint and use as inserts because the so called inserts that come with these scoops are nothing more than cheap vinyl stickers. I think you should get these only if you really, really, REALLY want these kind of scoops. They can look good if you put a great deal of work into them and have the patience and money for it. They just seem more trouble than they are worth.

Had these on my white '01 stang for about a month. Professionally installed at a trusted and skilled body shop, and the driver side flies off on the highway. If you're not using some sort of sealant in addition to the 3M, they will not last.

      good change!!

ok, so i paint cars for a living, so the painting isn't an issue with me. But i could see how it would add up for the average joe. DO NOT just use the 3m tape. We use that stuff at work to hold on emblems and small items. these have some weight to them and i would expect failure if you just use tape. I used 1/4" tape and window adheasive. the tape was there for the quick hold so the adheasive has time to set up. just do it right and they will last and look awesome!!

      Awesome scoops if installed correctly!!

I don't understand what everyone is complaining about, I am totally satisfied with these quarter window louvers! Others need to follow instructions and use common sense! Had them painted from a friend of mine who works at a body shop, perfect match. Just follow directions included with kit, clean car and inside of louver with alcohol and then use the 3M promoter (but like instructions state only on the inside of the louver, NOT your car paint duh!) As others have stated, not enough 3M tape comes with kit but you can buy the exact same stuff at store for cheap for less than $10 like I did and then make sure to use tape all the way around both parts. Then final step is to use clear silicone around edges once mounted to prevent rain and moisture to get inside and undo the adhesive. My kit came with the wrong inserts, but a quick call to company and they sent correct inserts a few days later. 100+ mph down the highway and these things are on solid and look fantastic!! Don't hesitate - BUT PLZ TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO INSTALL THEM CORRECTLY.

      great idea

It was a good idea but needless to say not at all worth the money. Mine did not fit the correct way, I still had gaps on the top after trying to put on my car. Very disappointed with the fit, I have decided after about 10 min of looking at how discus-sting these looked on my car to take them back off. Rain would have gotten into the gaps and after a while would have caused more harm then good. What a waste of mu=y hard earned money.

      Keepin them on tight

I used the 3m tape, but it wears and tears.. after you wash your car about 5 times it will start coming off in the rear of the pieces.. so i found that using shoo goo as a adhesive works wonders.. it is water resistant and it seals the piece to your car within minutes. so you have no waiting time for it to dry onto the car. just look at my car in the pictures.

      Be prepared !!!!!

material was pitted. cost me a fortune at the body shop for prep. After receiving these back, they do however make my car look meaner, and I also took the time to secure them properly to my black '04 GT.

      Quarter window scoops

Was a little unsure if it would look good but was really surprised how great it looked paid for prof. paint and install so they would be straight and even WELL worth it. Only problem was you need twice as much red back 3m tape as ur given.

      side scoops

I had these professionally painted and installed. No complaints from the body shop when installing. Installed these along with the Rousch Stage 3 body kit and what can I say. WOW!!!!! These finish off the aggressive power 'stang look. Recommend to anyone wanting that GT500 look on your 'stang.

      Quarter Scoops

These are great if you understand that two-sided tape doesn't make it for much anything. The scoops I received were heavy, a plus, and did not require much in the prep dept. They are supported in the center and cannot be pushed in if leaned against. I advise securing with regular adhesive. I used Goop and you'd have to turn the car over to get them off. I painted them before installation, but finished the job when they were on the car. I made cut-outs from some of my left-over grill and other scoop material to match the car. Not much is given with the kit and could just as well be left out. You need to put these up to the car and understand how they are supposed to fit. Once they are glued on, anyone with two firing neurons can figure out how to finish the slight cracks to assure a professional job. Mine turned out great, but if you just want a 10-minute add-on, don't waste your time. Your work will reflect exactly what you put into it. Don't mean to be snarky, but you have to think these through. Don't count on a body shop to even get it right. They will do only what they need to.

      Worth the Look!!

First off, these are heavy so make sure that after you have shop paint these they use an adhesion promoter on the doublesided tape for better adhesion. I had one side come off since not attached well with just tape. I knew I liked the look so I went ahead and used clear silicone adhesive to seal out moisture from getting to the tape for a permanent solution and these have been on now for 3 years without any sign of detaching from car. Only use the clear silicone adhesive if you have no plans on removing these! I just wanted the additional security. Love the look and I get compliments everywhere I go!

      03 GT

Still on after many months!!! Just some advice. When I first installed them, I used the double sided tape provided. Used alcohol wipes, cleaned surface well. After washing the car a few times, I did notice one side coming off. These quarter window louvers are great quality, but VERY HEAVY!!! Since I liked the look and was sure I would never want to remove them, I decided to remove them to reinstall. I still used double sided tape, but I also used silicone adhesive to secure the louvers in place, and prevent moisture from getting to the 3M tape. Months later, and after lots of racing, no signs of coming off and still very secure. Very happy with these louvers and make my car look sexier than any other New Edge I have seen!

If you are going to do this install, do it right. I'm sure the 3m tape meets most installers requirements these days, but I had my local shop fabricate these scoops onto the existing pillars. By making these pieces a one piece mold you will be very happy with the time and $ spent. Doesn't look like you just slapped on some tape and scoops. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to do something right or not at all!

worth the money? is great to deal with. Quick shipping and phone support. Xenon with their "rubber" pieces??? eh... I got mine in. Looks sweet. Showed them to my guy who was going to paint them. (not they are NOT primed and ready to paint)He's a professional and says it'll look nice. But you've got a chance of it blowing off down the road because they dont give you near enough tape. They'll fit nice ( but not like a glove - like anything else aftermarket-) My biggest letdown is he wouldnt paint them because of the rubber material they're made out of will expand and contract and eventually crack a good bad job sooner than later. Paint has issues sticking to rubber. Heck, you can paint whatever you want. But will it last? and in the end, was it worth it? for me... i didnt even want to try.

      Scoops needed some "messaging"

Haven't installed these yet but have gone through the pre-fitting and priming stage. I've done a good amount of work as a hobbyist and have worked with poly before. The scoops fit pretty well except for a minor gap at the top of the window. Not liking the fit led me reforming the area with some poly "bond". After multiple fittings, adding & sanding filler the gaps were closed in. Then sanded the entire scoop, sprayed flex agent and primed. Still haven't finished base/clear coat before final installation.
