Simple installation for anyone.
Hey everybody, Dave with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I have the CDC rear deck lid panel. This deck lid panel is designed to fit all 05-09’s and it eliminates that fake gas cap you have back there. If you’re looking to bring some retro styling into your newer Mustang, and you’re not such a fan of the fake gas cap, the CDC deck lid panel is definitely the right choice for you. It’s a super easy install, in fact the hardest part of the install is going to be removing that fake emblem, being careful not to scratch the paint. Once you’ve taken that off, the already supplied 3M tape on the panel makes it easy to line it up. You simply clean it, line it up on your vehicle, stick it on and you’re done, 15 minutes at home. So if you want to bring that retro Mach 1 styling into your 05-09 Mustang, the CDC rear deck lid panel is definitely the right choice for you.

I definitely recommend adding some extra 3M mounting tape to the back. Doesn’t come with enough, but it’s very high quality and looks amazing especially with my Raxiom Gen 5 tail lights!Helpful (0)

Good look but the tape doesn't hold well
This was a very easy install and looks good. Just be aware that the adhesive on the back of the product lacks quality. Within a week of installing this piece, the right side had completely separated from the trunk lid. Pretty easy fix, but also not something I wanted to have to go do.Helpful (1)

Get your own tape.
The tape they supply with this item lasts about 6 months, then begins to peel for no reason.Helpful (0)

Took 5 minutes to install to make sure everything was cleaned and lined up correctly. Love the way it looks with the smoked coyote tails.Helpful (0)

Great Rear Panel! I re-bought it!
The first CDC panel I bought was about 12 years ago when my 07 GT was new ...after many washings - it did have some slight bubblings 12 years later ....not that noticeable ...so I re-bought this panel once again ....it makes the car in my mind ...HINT**for install -buy some extra red 3M tape- the trunk on the 05-07 has a 'slight' curvature at the bottom. I doubled up the tape (after pre-fitting) only at the bottom portion at the ends (Left the center section intact the way it comes) - makes a complete secure bond with the trunk.Helpful (0)

Overall look and finish is fantastic. Like a couple other reviews, the adhesive has come loose on one corner due to the slight curvature mis-match with my trunk panel, and may require me to remount it at some point. I’m watching it and so far it has stopped spreading though.Helpful (0)

CDC DECKLID TRIM PANEL
Came in two days. Figment is good . Slightly smaller than the space your installing it on.my 07GT is silver so I taped off and painted the 1/8” area that it didn’t cover flat black. Also some people had mentioned it coming off over time I used a silicone adhesive on th back as well as the tape. It’s perfect and permanent. Already had the huge factory emblem off so install would be less than hour.Helpful (0)
Hello, I know what this part you have to remove the GT fake gas cap sign in the back. Removing the gas cap sign leaves a hole where it was. After I put the rear deck lid panel on wouldn't water be able to get in where the gas cap was
The CDC Rear Decklid Trim Panel (05-09 All) will fit up to the rear decklid trim and will block all water from getting to where the fake gas cap once was.
paint Can you paint this part?
yeah you can paint this. its hard quality plastic so you should be good to paint it
what is the best way to clean surface, I have had mine for about a week and a half and noticed this morning the upper right side is already coming loose a bit , and could result in potential loss. but I power washed surface, cleaned by hand to be sure nothing else was on the surface then did a x3 re-clean using an alcohol base over the hole surface to be sure nice clean and bit of take down of the enamel to provide a great applicable surface. and now its already coming off. so just wanted to see what others methods or best method could be , before I lose this?
Hand cleaning would be suggested. When attempting to reinstall, liberal use of both adhesion promoter and 3M tape is suggested.
Does the panel have UV protection?
The CDC Rear Decklid Trim Panel was no designed for UV protection so it has not been tested. These are mainly a style piece so they were not tested for this type of usage.
Tape What is the name of the tape used on the back? is there anywhere it can be bought?
Payne, its called 3M tape and you usually can find it at your nearest hardware store.
