Ask a Question

Is there a magnetic deck lid coming for my 2013 Mustang ??

  • At the current time, there are no magnetic decklid panels available for the 2013 or 2014 Mustangs.

Has anyone tried this on the 13-14 GT's? Based off what I read, it appears that the only difference between the decklid's for the 2010-2012 is that there are some holes in the trunk for fastners. But for the most part everything is held by 3M, so I don't see why this panel couldn't work with a 14.

  • Unfortunately, the Magnetic Decklid Blackout Panel (10-12 All) is only designed for all 2010 to 2012 Mustangs. There is an issue with the curves not fitting perfectly together. This may not fit properly on a 13-14 GT.

Washing car with panel on? Can I keep it on the car while washing it?

  • You should not have any issues keeping it on while washing your car; however I would recommend removing it every now and then to clean around the edges.

    Great for the price

It comes rolled up, so it has to be flattened. I put mine under my school books for 1 night, and it flattened just fine. Looks good and took less than 10 minutes to attach perfectly. Great deal for the money.

Worth the money for a quick appearance change.

When the product arrived it needed to sit out to flatten from shipping. Once flat it installed very easy as long as you are careful to tuck it under the reat faux gas cap before trying to line it up.

    good look with minor downsides

I really like the product gives the car a good look. fitment is a little rough. The good thing about the magnet is you can take it off and adjust as much as you need. Other then a little warping that you can barely notice its worth the very low price to try it out

Not perfect, but for $20 it was a steal!

Other reviews will tell you, it does not fit perfectly. But it was $19.99 during the spring clearance and I am so happy I got it. I am going to get the OEM V6 Rear decklid from Ford but this pushed my decision toward it. My GF really likes the look and I am going to smoke all of my lights, rear and side markers. Headlights will eventually be the Raxiom smoke projectors. Man my car looks good. Rims were high on my list, but they will be the icing on the cake.

I am extremely happy with this and for the price I can probably buy 5-6 of these for the price of 1 plastic -2-sided tape piece ( sorry A.M.) WELL worth the price, and now I can see what a more expensive permanent piece will look like.

    Attractive and Easy

This deck lid panel is simple to install, just make sure you flatten it out over night because it comes rolled up. I have had it on for about 9 months now and I have noticed some shrinking or warping in the top and bottom part, that goes around the big fake gas tank. I'm sure this is due to weathering, but for the price I'll just buy another one from AM this summer.

    Very Nice :)

Overall its nice. It doesnt fit perfectly. I dont think its tall enough to cover all the "bow" of the trunk and at the same time it is not cut perfectly even to cover the bottom either. On the bottom right I can see a tiny bit of paint because the deck lid doesnt cover it. I was expecting something perfect that would cover the whole bow of the trunk and thats not what I got. But its pretty close to it ! Im pretty sure Im the only one who will ever notice cause its such a small detail. After install my girlfriend and friends didnt notice any flaws untill I showed them up close. I recommend this product for sure and would definitely buy it again for $60 if something happened to the one I have now. Buy It.

    Perfectionists avoid this panel

I didn't think it was going to be the best part I've ever bought. But, I wish it fit a little better. The circle cut out makes it a little tricky to lie perfectly flat. Also, I have fridge magnets that stick harder. I laid it out flat under some textbooks for a few hours to fix the curve in the corners from it be rolled during shipping. Otherwise, looks pretty good.

Take your time and it's a good look!

This was my first purchase from American Muscle for my 2010. It arrived fast, and the first thing I did was unroll it, put it under a towel and iron it as flat as I could, then stuck it on the front of the fridge...my wife was thrilled...LOL. I left it there for a few days until I had time to properly install it. II can tell you that in doing that, it was very flat and easy to work with. Worth the wait! I washed the car and cleaned the trunk panel extremely well. Then, I put a nice coat of Mothers carnuba cleaner wax on the trunk, buffed it, and it was slick as a whistle. I cleaned the magnet very well on the back, heated it up with a hair dryer in the garage, and got it situated perfect around the trunk emblem. Then, working my way outward, got it to lay just perfect. I'm very pleased with it. It is sitting just perfect on the trunk, no wrinkles or bubbles or places where it's off the body. It's just right. I think it gives the rear end more depth, makes it look a little "meaner", and kinda gives a throwback flare from Mustangs of old. For $40, I think it's a pretty simple little mod that adds a cool touch if you take your time, prep it, and do it RIGHT. If you hurry it, it's going to look like crap. The instructions talk about taking it off every time you wash the car. I almost hate to do it, because it looks just right, but I know it's smart. My only concern is how it holds up to weather and that it doesn't hurt the paint on my trunk. The quality seems good and it's cut just perfect for the decklid. Nice simple product!

The panel fit awesome the day I got it......after some nasty chilly winter weather in south florida and temperatures going up and down, the panel got distorted and/or shrunk to where it doesnt go to the edges anymore. I dont know if the coming hot weather will make it expand again but its irritating. Otherwise the concept is awesome

    Inexpensive and good looking.

It arrived, I unrolled it. I took it out to the car and I "installed" it. It does not fit perfectly around the faux gas cap, but I am not concerned. From 5 feet away it looks perfect. You have to get very close to it to really be able to tell it is not a perfect fit. Plus, it comes right off and is not a permanent modification. If you are interested in seeing how your car will look with a blackout panel, this is the best way to check it out. You may upgrade to a permanent type of part, or leave it as is. I am still on the fence, personally. Does look great.

This decklid panel completed the blackout look I was going for. The fit was spot-on and has not undergone any deformities during weather changes.

Not perfect, but good for the money

This magnetic blackout panel is cool in concept. Obviously easy to install, which is one of the main reasons I got it. But the edges still have trouble with staying flush with the trunk. I had to do a little trimming in order to make it fit to my liking, but still the fitment leaves a little to be desired. It looks great from afar, but when you're right up next to it, you can tell it doesn't fit exactly flush. I also don't like the fact that I have to take it off every time I wash my car, then put it back on and try and get the best fit all over again. Overall I like the look (from > 1 ft away), and this is pretty much the cheapest option for a decklid panel. That being said, you get what you pay for.

Cheap, but you get what you pay for

It was easy to install, unfortunately it ripped on the thin section the first day when I was going to wash the car. You get what you pay for, I didn't expect much for the price.

    Great value

I got it rolled up and stuck it to my washing machine for two days. It was very straight by then. Installed it and noticed that the lower deck lid was still visible, so I put electrical tape on bottom of deck lid under the magnet, you can't even notice. I would recommend this to everyone, looks great on car.

    Nice and Easy

I followed the steps provided by another reviewer. I received it and ironed it flat, then stuck it on the fridge for a few days. After putting it on the car, I did have to tuck it into the circle emblem on the trunk. I was skeptical about whether or not it would stay with higher speeds, but after driving 300 miles south on the interstate and noticing it was still there when I arrived at my destination, I love it. It cost about $20-$25 less than the permanent one, but I prefer it as it is removable and able to be re-added at any time. Highly recommended!!

    Awesome magnet!

The magnetic decklid was recently on sale for a price I just could not pass up, I have a 2010 used mustang so the previous owner previously had a different kind of tinted smokey black deck lid held on by double stick tape and the tape was comming off, so i decided to purchase the magnetic decklid. The only problem i had with the product was the fitment at first it didn't fit untill i realized i needed to tuck part of the magnet under the emblem surround and after raj it fit great and give me zero problems!! Awesome magnet for a great price!

Who doesn't want their rear end to look a little better?

Easy, inexpensive dress up for your trunk lid. Slightly disappointed with the fit however. I wonder if the fake gas cap on the convertible (which I have) is a little larger in diameter than the one on the fastback. Panel doesn't lie flat on the sheet metal around the emblem on my car - the hole isn't quite large enough. Also, the upper corners where the panel tapers down to a point don't seem to have enough magnet power to hold them tight to the body. Still looks good though. May eventually upgrade to the MMD panel, but this one seems like a good value for what I paid for it.
