    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out Raxiom’s chrome and smoked projector headlights, fitting all 94-98 Mustangs. Raxiom is currently the industry leader in producing a wide variety of cool and stylish lighting for your Mustang, all backed by a full 2 year warranty. These lights from Raxiom are definitely for the SN95 owner out there who enjoys more of an aftermarket type of look, these lights have been designed to replace the 2 piece factory lights, using a sleek 1 piece housing available in your choice of either smoked or chrome. Taking a closer look at the smoked option here on our 98 GT, you can see they achieved that aggressive appearance by pairing a black housing with a dark smoked lens. On the other hand the chrome option achieves that bright clean look, by utilizing a chrome housing along with a crystal clear lens. As for that more aftermarket type of look I just mentioned, you can see why: these lights feature a more modern projector style light which besides looking cool, is going to produce a brighter, more focused beam of light. In order to further increase the modern styling, Raxiom has also included some very cool halo accent lighting, which surrounds the projector itself. When the whole package is in action, it definitely gives the front end a very unique look to say the least. These lights do include both 9005 bulbs for your high beams, and H3 bulbs for your low beams, along with the quick splice connectors needed for the install. Speaking of the installation, you will need to wire in the halos and accent lighting to your cars parking lights, either using the supplied quick splice connectors or a soldering iron. Other than that, everything else is completely plug and play, and should only take you about an hour from start to finish. Whether you’re into the bright clean styling of the chrome housing, or the more sinister look of the smoked, one thing is for sure, these lights from Raxiom will alter the look of any SN95 and they can be found right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Modern One-piece design. Update the look of your 94-98 Mustang with a set of one-piece projector headlights. These chrome Mustang Halo Projector Headlights have a sleek sexy one piece design that blends nicely into the lines of the SN95 Mustangs.

Full Warranty. Raxiom features an "Industry Leading 2 Year Full Warranty".

DOT Approved. Equipped with 9005 and H3 bulbs for high/low beams this pair of Mustang Headlights are DOT (Department of Transportation) approved for legal street use under compliance # QR1200162.

How does the rubber around the edge of the light hold up ? I've purchased others that last about a year. Thanks

    Anthony

    • Hello! I am not sure what other brand headlights you may have purchased in the past, but one year is far too short. Several of the guys and girls here that have these on their Mustangs have had them for a couple years.

      headlight?

This headlight wasn't designed for functionality, I had multiple technicians try to place it in my car without success. Looked great however a two piece is safer.

      Not plug and play.

I was looking forward to updating the look of my 98 Mustang--what I consider a beautiful car. However... While the product review video does not show installation highlights, it does imply that these are a swap-n-go mod. In theory, they should be. That was--in my case--not the situation. The location of the mounting hardware was off. That isn't too hard to work around as they all pivot. Still, it was a serious pain. The biggest problems are 1, overall, the single light housing's shape does not want to fit into a location designed for two light housings; 2, the Raxiom supplied, plastic retaining/adjustment nuts are a joke. Keep your factory retaining/adjustment nuts!!! They will be needed to replace the ones that are on this kit. The retaining nuts from Raxiom are too soft. The Ford OEM retaining nuts are better; but, still under a lot more pull than from the factory, double light system. I already have one (OEM) that has pulled back through. Like I mentioned, the fit of these isn't perfect. There is also the fit of the Raxiom lights to the fenders. They do not fit very well there, either. I may have a body shop see what they can do. And there goes a lot of money to a supposedly swap-n-go, inexpensive mod. I will not use these on my wife's Mustang. Her 98 will get the OEM look two piece design.

Just buy stock and save yourself the trouble

Initial installation required cutting into the bracket because the plugs did not fit through the normal circle. The rubber flaps on the headlights tore off way too easily, probably because of cheap adhesive used to hold it together. The rubber covers for the lights on the inside were also very loose, which was fixed by simply harnessing zip-ties over them. After finally getting the headlights installed, we tried adjusting them but could not do much due to limited space with the headlights since they encompass the entire head and signal slots. During a drive at night I discovered they pointed at the ground roughly 20ft. in front of me, making them useless and unsafe. The high beams worked kind of normally, but seemed off still. The next day we had to literally bend the tip of both front fenders upward so the headlights could adjust accordingly while also fitting. On both sides the top adjustment screws simply popped out, which required taking the headlight out, hammering the individual piece back in, connecting it back up with the base, and re-installing it. But the largest issue was one of the bottom adjustment screws were coming out from the plastic, once again probably due to cheap adhesive. After using super-glue three different times (including three different times of having to un-install and re-install the headlight) the actual plastic on the headlight broke in half. With the use of $15 super-glue, the cheap plastic was able to hold together and we were able to adjust the headlights to where they are not equally aligned but close enough because we're afraid the plastic will break again if we keep tightening it. The clamps on the bracket are all worn out at this point from constantly having to take the headlights out to fix one thing or another. As of last night the regular beams worked decently while the high beams shoot significantly upwards to where they don't illuminate where I'm driving efficiently, but am unsure if our fixes or modifications will last or if we'll be messing with them again in a few days. Raxiom produced a horribly-cheap product that breaks when we try to fit it in for par performance and required damaging my own car in order for it to fit normally and work acceptably. For the price they asked, I could get stock headlights and signal lights without having to alter the vehicle. This is a manufacturer I will NOT be purchasing from again.

problems of quality, fit and installation.

1996 GT: right side rubber flange first 3 In. over the headlight was loose/off, fixed with black RTV. Right side 3/8 In gap at the top. Great look, Blk/Blk, but a trade off of return or deal with it. I did the wiring, shop did the alignment.

Look great but you can't see well!

These are some very great looking lights. They compliment the front end of the Mustang, look like they are OEM or better and as long as it's daylight, all is well. BUT.....the lighting they provide is, at best, poor. Low beam is absolutely useless, appearing as a parking light in brightness and providing little to no visibility. High beams provide better visibility, similar to a low beam with a broader pattern. If you don't have bright fog lights that are switched independently (not relayed off with the low beams) look elsewhere, unless you don't drive at night. If you don't drive at night, are not too frustrated when installing something that should install easy and like a beautiful front appearance- - - -buy these lights!

      Poor design

While the wrap-around design looks good, the fit is poor and both adjusters broke by the adjusting rod pulling out of the sliding component. Removing the headlights to replace the adjuster is extremely difficult due to the pressure being put on the assembly due to the wrap-around design.

      Nice Looks - Poor Quality

American Muscle has been great about replacement on these parts. The design looks great on the car but the quality of the material and design are lacking. Cheap plastic molds with piece parts that break easily when installing. Not a nice hard plastic that is durable such as the original manufacture system that was in the car.

      halo projector headlights

i bought these a few years ago (and still have them on my car) so they may of fixed my issue with them but here is my review. these headlights look great on the car, but installing them isnt as straight forward as you would hope. you have to dremel the headlight panel a bit to fit right. the instructions that come with them are useless. the visibility is not better than stock. the only gain from these is the appearance factor.

      A little unimpressed

I purchased these lights to replace some that I had purchased from another company. To start things off, when I received my lights in the mail, the package did not contain any quick connects for the install. Which was not a huge deal breaker, because going to the local part store was not an issue. As I continued with the install, the halo on the driver side worked for less than 2 hours. The low beam bulb on the passenger side, keeps shortening out. In addition, to the low beams only point down at the road, only allowing me to see maybe 2 feet in front of my bumper. And the lights would not adjust using the screws, with one of the brackets that holds the light to the car, keeps coming off completely.

      Extremely Dissappointed.

Well I got the lights and took them out of the package and was like wow these look sweet. then got to looking at noticed one of the pieces on it had broke and said no big deal. After struggling to get them in, I turned on my lights hoping to be amazed and the low beam didn't wanna work. Turns out the metal clip inside the rubber housing broke. So AM sent me another set and what do ya know, the same piece was broken on these and there is a short somewhere causing the high beams to come on instead of the low beam. and they are extremely tedious to adjust. Overall, if you want looks then buy them. But if you want it to function great then it's just not gonna happen. Pretty poor manufacturing in my opinion

      chrome halos for the (94-98)

I just purchased the chrome projection halos about a week ago. It took me about 2 hours to install them. My first real experience with the halos was very disappointing. The low beams are very unsafe to drive with at night time, on the other hand the high beams work excellent. On the other hand if you are a daily driver I would recommend going with the Chrome Cobra Style Headlights for the (94-98) style Stang. But if you have a show car I would definitely go with the Chrome halo projection lights.

      You have been notified

Overall I'm glad that I purchased these headlights. They arrived pretty fast for standard shipping and look better than advertised, BUT there were some drawbacks. I had to reseal the entire lenses with silicone just to feel comfortable that they wouldn't leak or retain moisture, and they did NOT come with the quick connectors for the halo and accent lights. Not a huge deal, BUT what boiled my eggs was that I had to modify the directional light connector on the passenger side because they did not bother to reverse the way the connector locks in place from the driver's side. Also the H3 bulbs (low beams) provided aren't bright enough, I will be replacing them with nitro blue 4000K's. The 9005 bulbs (high beams) work mint.

      Nice upgrade

I just purchased my 96 gt convertible and the stock headlight lenses were yellowed. These headlights add a nice modern touch without giving too much of an aftermarket look. The instructions were not very complete and I may do an installation guide to assist other buyers. It could have taken an hour if the instructions were better. Still very satisfied with the purchase and American Muscle's great service.
