How to Install AFE Street Series Twisted Steel Down-Pipe - Catted (15-17 EcoBoost) on your Ford Mustang

CAUTION: Allow time for your vehicle to cool down prior to installation. When working on or under your vehicle proceed with caution. Exhaust systems reach high temperatures and may cause serious burns. Wear protective safety equipment; eye goggles and gloves to ensure a safe installation. aFe recommends professional installation on our products.

Step 1: (Read Instructions prior to installation) for faster removal and installation of exhaust a trained professional is recommended for  this procedure.  

Step 2: Secure stock exhaust with jack/stands.  

Step 3: Disconnect negative battery terminal.

Step 4: Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.

Step 5: Remove and discard the nuts torque.

Step 6: Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electric connector.  

Step 7: Loosen the clamp and release the tab and slide the clamp back on the muffler. Separate the muffler and tailpipe from the  catalytic converter bracket.

Step 8: Remove the tailpipe.

Step 9: Install aFe down pipe using OE gasket nuts Do Not tighten.

Step 10: Re-install the catalytic converter bracket using the bolts & nuts hardware provided DO Not Tighten.

Step 11: Install the adaptor pipe (x1) to the down pipe using 3" band clam hardware provided DO Not Tighten.  NOTE: The 3" Inlet/3" Outlet Adaptor pipe mounts directly to the aFe Performance Cat-Back P/N 49-33084  for a full 3" system.  

Step 12: Re-connect the HO2S electrical connector.

Step 13: Re-connect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

Step 14: Use provided o2 plug (05-46018) when not using auxiliary o2 bung.

Step 15: Once aligned and you’re satisfied, you may now tighten  complete system.

Step 16: Reconnect battery.

Step 17: Double check all work and ensure everything is tight.

Step 18: Start the vehicle and check for any leaks.

Step 19: Congratulations, your system is now complete and fully installed! It is recommended to re-tighten all clamps and  bolts after 50-100 miles.
