    Review & Installation Video

Hi, I’m Mike Wilson with, and this is the Airaid cold air intake kit 2005-2009 Mustang V6. We’re going to show you what kind of horse power and torque numbers to expect when you combine this with a Bama performance 93 Octane race tune. But first, we’re going to do a stock dyno run so we have some baseline horse power and torque numbers to work on. Stock, our 2005 V6 automatic put down 172 horse power and 196 ft/lbs of torque. The Aidraid cold air intake kit replaces the factory restrictive airbox, with a one piece plastic intake tube, that incorporates the mass air housing. It also connects to a high flow airbox with a reusable air filter, which will increase horse power, torque, acceleration, and give you a throaty engine sound. Now we’re going to install this cold air intake, which should take less than an hour, and can be done with simple hand tools you have at home. Along with the cold air intake, we also installed one of our 93 octane Bama race tunes. A custom tune from Bama performance adjusts engine parameters to maximize your performance, through optimized air/fuel ratio, spark advance, enhanced throttle response, and for automatics, increased shift firmness, and adjustable shift points. Now let’s make another dyno run, see what kind of horse power and torque we can get. With the Airaid cold air intake and a Bama performance tune, our car put down 193 horse power and 222 ft/lbs of torque. We’re gaining as much as 26 horse power and 36 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. In under an hours time using simple hand tools we installed the Airaid cold air intake and a Bama performance tune, and gained as much as 26 horse power and 36 ft/lbs of torque.

Increase horsepower and torque. Airaid Cold Air Intake Systems are computer designed to give your engine maximum air flow, which translates to more horsepower, torque and improved fuel efficiency. Airaid intakes are dyno tested and tuned for maximum performance and efficiency.

Superior Filtration. Each cold air intake provides superior air filtration, since it includes an Airaid Premium Filter with SynthaFlow® technology. SynthaFlow® is a synthetic nano-fiber material that traps the smallest dirt particles that ordinary cotton-gauze "performance" filters just can't capture. Airaid Premium Filters, with SynthaFlow® can capture particulates down to 2 microns in size. And best of all Premium Filters are washable and re-usable saving you money.

CARB Certified. Best of all this Airaid Mustang FIPK Air Intake Kit is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-609-5.

Application. This Airaid kit is designed to fit the 2005-2009 4.0 V6 Mustang with no computer retune required. By utilizing state of the art computer-aided designs, Airaid Intake Systems offer unmatched fit, finish, and power!

    • Yes the filer is oiled and you should buy the cleaning and recharge kit for it

Would you get the 26 HP and 36 extra torque if you just get the cold air intake and not buy the tuner?

    • Those HP and torque numbers are with the optional tune.

Would it be better power and money wise to get this CAI without a filter or get a tuner without a CAI? Where would I get the most power gain?

    • Hello! I am assuming that you meant which would give you more power if either a CAI or a Tuner, but not both. Obviously they work off of each other, so to get the full potential of either they should be paired together, but personally I would start with a tuner if choosing BAMA, as retunes are free. If choosing a different tuner, I would buy the CAI first and then get the correct tune afterwards.

How much horsepower does it add to a 4.0l v6

    • The power gain all depends on what other modifications you have done to the car. Though, you will see a nice increase in power with this CAI.

What is the difference between this unit and Part#102461 other than this one using an oiled filter and the later using a dry filter? Is there another difference? Is one better than the other?

    • The only difference between the two is one uses a Dry Filter while the other uses an Oiled Filter. An Oiled Filter allows the fibers to open up which aids in superior filtration. A Dry Filter does not. Realistically, it will not matter in performance unless you are using the car on the track. An Oiled Filter is preferred for racing applications.

Would I see a larger increase in power with this CAI paired with a tune later on, or will the output remain the same? Or should I just hold off and buy a CAI that requires a tuner?

    • Any time you boost the amount of air into a motor, you are very likely to see an increase in power. Thing is, with the newer Mustangs, Ford has already tuned the cars greatly from the factory. Many times owners, who add things like this, experience a power loss because the car is not retuned after installing. After installing any performance item to your newer Mustang, you should retune to get the ultimate power gain. It's a new world out there! Where 79-04 you could add a CAI and experience an instant gain, you now have to retune before experiencing the same boost. That being said, this is a very good item and will help the car breath better, but get the tune also.

I put this on my 2007 v6 and it was amazing in the difference. The CAI kept the HP up through 4th and would make it get up and go a lot faster. Awesome buy for cheap.

purchased this intake with a bbk 70mm throttle body and steeda TB spacer a week later had true dual exhaust. I recently took a trip that was about 700 miles one way and I drove my Mustang and well I only had to stop once to fill up. Doing the math while on the road I was getting about 35-37 Miles to the gallon and to be honest my biggest item to than would have to be the intake, the amount of air flow my car gets is amazing, and the power wow that all I really have to say.

      borrowed from friend

a friend allowed me to put this in my car and i gave her the stock box. I have had it for a week now and I like it. sounds nice, gives it some more push on the car. The noise it makes also lets you know its working. a huge SWISH sound once you accelerate. a good buy. I don't think she is getting it back.

      Increased Horsepower and Torque!

This is a great CAI if you are looking to upgrade from your stock cold air intake! It will not give you as much of a power gain as one that requires a tune, but it will wake up your car a lot and it looks great under the hood. Installation was not difficult as it reused the factory MAF sensor and the nuts and bolts that were on the stock CAI.

      AIRAID C.A.I.

Install took about 30 min & it was a snap. After the install I noticed an increase in highway gas mileage by about 1.5 mpg. Maybe a slight increase in hp but not much.

      Airaid MUST GET!

Just installed the CAI with no problems at all. The process took about 30-40 minutes at most. I bought this CAI because I didnt want the tuner yet and i feel that the Airaid system is the best in the market that doesnt require a tune. I love the deeper sound it gives my car and would recommed it to anyone with a V6!

My install is on a 2006 V6. I gotta say I was quite surprised to find out that Ford had a 70mm throttle body already attached, I was under the impression that stock was 64/68 mm. So the only other add-on was the steeda throttle body spacer. The Air raid install went very smooth and had it on in no time! Test drive was Outstanding! When I mashed her down she broke loose ..all the way thru 3rd!! I am absolutley stunned by the difference in H.P. and response! If your looking for an affordable giddy-up for your`ve found it!!! Fuel mileage test will be next..if I can keep my foot under control!! hehe..

      Not Bad

I had a SR Performance CAI installed, but it was not smog legal, as i live in California...Installed this one, minor issues with the screws that come with it, but fixable. After installing it, I returned my vehicle to stock programing, and tested out the intake, very nice power gain and throttle response. Deffinetly better gains from a stock air box to this one, and best part yet, its Smog Legal! Thanks AM

      AirRaid CAI

I was on the fence about getting a cold air intake for my car, but I have to say wow with this one. Packaging as always was superb-everything that I needed was included except for the tools obviously. Shipping as always from American Muscle is top notch and super fast! The install took me roughly about 40 minutes, only because I was still waking up from the UPS guy ringing my doorbell at 9 in the morning but that wasn't a big deal since my new toy came. It takes longer to take the stock airbox off than it does to install this CAI. That said, make sure to disconnect your negitive terminal and wait a couple of minutes before disconnecting the MAF sensor. After everything was on tight, and the battery reconnected, I fired up my engine and wow. You can hear a definite difference when you step on the gas. I have also combined this CAI with a true dual exhaust from a GT500, PowerAID throttle body spacer, and eventhough it didn't need it a custom 91 octane tune. Once that was done, holy c#@% the difference is like night and day. For the cost this is one of the best mods you can do to wake up your mustang, and should be the first mod on your list, a DEFINITE MUST BUY!!

      Pony expansion

Well, I was nervous about the intsallation. My first time replacing factory parts on a newer car. Installation was pretty much straight forward. There are a couple of times when the replacement parts were a extremely tight fit. Read the instruction twice before making the chance. The only concern after completing is the fit between the air box and the cooler assembly near the driver side head light. I believe this assembly is the power steering cooler, its very tight. The car sounds alot meaner, seem like I got a small boost in power! Well next upgrade is the dual exhaust...

      Noticed Right Away

Easy to install. Noticed that I was getting 3+ mpg more right away. Will be doing a cruise this weekend & looking for more power too. At $3.50 per gallon, a 3mpg will pay for itself in about 12000 miles. And the filter should last at least 3x longer that the square OEM fitting filters.

      Great Product

This was a great upgrade to my Mustang. It was an easy install that took roughly 40 minutes. After installation I could immediately feel the power increase. Some people talked about hearing the air rush when pressing the throttle but from inside the car it's hard to tell. But all in all, great product, would highly recommend to anybody looking to gain some power easily and fairly cheap.
