Simple installation for anyone.
Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Great So Far!
Great Product so far! A little tight/tough fit but not bad. Looks great, sounds great! More whine from Supercharger but not excessive. Paired with Roush Cat Back Exhaust and the car sounds amazing now! Better throttle response as well! No tune needed and no issue/CEL.Helpful (0)

I have done extensive tuning with my RevX because I kept getting codes displaying too much fuel rail one and two. Turns out my stock intake allowed more air than the Airaid MXP SERIES! Techs said heat shrinkage may have been the problem. Would gladly exchange for a JLT big air carbon fibre intake 123 mm which needs a tune!!!Helpful (13)

OUTTA THE BOX GREAT
Slipped this unit on my 09 GT 500 no problem. No tune needed and the difference is still quite evident. Easy install, good fit, upped the ponies on my snake. what more do you want!Helpful (20)

I opted for this CAI over the others due to the overheating issues that Shelbys can have since this intake truly seals the intake from the rest of the engine. Installation was a breeze and took around 35 minutes from start to finish. Performance was decent enough, but when paired with a tune and exhaust, you are in for a treat. I would have paid the price just for the conical filter and how much better it looks under the hood now.Helpful (19)

Looks great. Easy install.
Looks great. Easy install. No way to verify any of the gains. haven't seen any improvement in mpg.. been about the same. With the power and torque of a GT500 how can you determine with your foot if there really was any gain?Helpful (19)

The "ONLY" true sealed cold air box for the GT500. The first thing I noticed from the pictures online is that this was the only CAI kit that had an airbox similar to the "Bullit" design from Ford Racing. Not even Ford Racing's GT500 CAI kit has the complete seal and volume that this Airaid unit provides. I'm not sure if it was the combination of the Ford Racing 49 state stingers and this Airaid kit, but throtle contol and response is incredible compaired to factory. Slow contolled off-idle take offs help eliminate the clutch shutter that is typical to most GT500s. Frome idle to redline it pulls seemlessly, I let off shortly after shifting into 4th at about 130 because I was running out of road, but it was begging for more! (not to mension my EX was crapping her pants...;-)Helpful (21)

This kit totally seals out the underhood heat which is the problem with other filter kits. Everything fits precisely without issue. All the connections were better quality than the other conical type filter I had before.Helpful (20)
