Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

    Ask a Question

Will this Airaid spacer work with a BBK after market cold air intake??

    s281

    • If my way of thinking is correct, throttle body spacers don't have an effect of which intake you have because you can probably just loosen one of the hoses and telescope the whole intake if you need to. And throttle body spacers aren't that big really.

Would you recommend getting the Throttle Body Spacer or the Ford Performance 62mm Throttle Body? Or will both work?

    DanielF

    • The Throttle body spacer and Throttle body will not work together due to the larger size of the aftermarket throttle body. The Ford Performance will provide larger gains than the Throttle body spacer, but at a considerable cost increase.

I have a 2007 Mustang GT with the Shelby package. Will this or the one just below work or has that already been taken care of with the Shelby package

    MustangMan69

    • It may fit OK, but not worth your time and money man, your already fit for forced air, this little bit of extra vortex will do little to nothing for you, you really want bang for your buck on your Shelby man Go put 410 Ford Racing Gears, use Royal Purple to re fill, get a set of 305 50 R 18 on your SVT Rims, Use the Mickey Thompson Street Drag Radials on the rear, will give you now a 12+ inch rear foot print, all in all you will have spend about $600 - $700, and look out and hang on, your going to stick like a bugger, and 1/.4 mile time will drop big !!, is like adding 50 or 60 horse, did it to my 05 Modified GT, best thing by far, iuf you have not considered this you can actually Utitilize the big HP you may be missing with not hooking up good, just easy in the rain, keep your traction control on, and no heavy corner punching, it minnor TC is a saver, just so you know Another adding more cold air under your hood, with a lower Ram Air tube,I have Shaker, thery make a kit for Supercharged Shelby as well now, they look Mean, and really Inprove the kick and also sealing good around the air Intake plenium is another big boost for the car, keep the Hot air out and away from the Cold Air in, let it breath . cold , clean , fresh air, Enjoy Mustang Brother Perkins

I already have this but have not put it on. Will it work if I already put a 62mm throttle body on?

    JustinR

    • No, this throttle body spacer is only designed to work with the factory throttle body. You wouldn't be able to use this with an aftermarket throttle body.

I was reading past questions about throttle body upgrades and this spacer. I saw a few reviews saying that it could not be used with the 62mm throttle body due to the bigger bore, but there’s another saying it is compatible with the GMS 62mm throttle body. Does this spacer work with the 62mm throttle body or a specific one?

    JustinW

    • This spacer will only work with the factory throttle body, and is not compatible with any aftermarket throttle bodies.

Install was easy. Red looks dope under the hood. This Poweraid spacer by Airaid gave my 05 GT a little whistle sound. Definitely made the car sound better.

      Throttle body spacer

My car has stock headers with a magnaflow x pipe and cat delete/muffler delete. I can still hear it whistle. I did this mod along with a new cai filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter. I assume this is what changed my throttle response and I can definitely tell it's there. The instructions were clear. The hardest part about it was changing out the old bolt studs with the new bolts. I used a pair of vise grips to do them with because the two nuts idea didn't work for me. Its definitely worth the 100 I spent on it. Looks great and fit amazing with my stock bullitts cai.

      Throttle bottle spacer

It was a great product..I love the whistle sound it makes around 2 Rmps. Very satisfied with this product and better it is carb legal so no need to worry for the smog check here in cali since they are so picky with aftermarket parts.

      Great vaLue

Easy install, about 15 min tops. Noticed a gain right away in throttle response and low end torque. No whistle sound though but I am running a muffler delete kit. I do hear a little "ppfffttt" sound though when you just touch the gas pedal. Easy install, immediate gains. Good buy.

      Power aid

About this product I do like it the one thing I was upset about was that it didn't say poweraid like it shown in the picture other than that I liked the product really easy to install took about 15-20 minutes instructions were perfect with it. For the performance wise I do feel a difference not a big difference but a noticeable one and there is that whistle noise also so I know it's working for the price it's a good buy in my book

      Not so satisfied

Was under the impression that it would not throw a light and not effect gas mileage. After a fairly easy install, idled well on my '08 GT with no CE light. Noticed a little better throttle response, but after driving 100 miles, had a CE light and gas consumption doubled. Have to get into it and find out why. Very disappointed

I did see a notice in better mpg but my power is a little lower and when I put it on with my aftermarket intake, my intake stuck out a little more and didn't fit properly anymore so I had to rea range it so I could close the hood

Is that a supercharger? No! It's a spacer

I bought this throttle body spacer not expecting much from any performance gains. I knew that circulating the air into the intake manifold was not going to bring huge gains. I bought this primarily for the sound that this throttle body spacer gives off! So many of my friends always ask me if my engine is supercharged because of the Whistle this spacer gives off. I think its the next best sounding thing to a supercharger without breaking the bank. You can definitely here it from the outside as well as driving. Its nothing too loud or very noticeable, but it surely is there. If you want a mod that will make your engine bay sound nice as well as driving then the poweraid throttle body spacer is the way to go! Installation was a breeze, just make sure you follow directions. And as far as gains have come along, I have seen an increase of 1/2 mile more miles per gallon then without it. Nothing huge as I expected.
