- How to Install Wheels on Your 1979-2013 Mustang
Hey everyone Justin here with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a look at a classic Mustang wheel design and by far our most popular wheel here at AmericanMuscle, I’m referring to these Bullitt wheels for all 99-04 Mustangs. Bullitt wheels have long been the favorite of many Mustang owners everywhere, from their classic 60s muscle car styling, in addition to the factory built Ford Bullitt Mustang in 01, then again in 08 and 09, it’s easy to see why these wheels are so popular on Mustangs of all ages. Our Bullitt wheels are available in 17” 18” and 19” diameters, and your choice of either gloss black, anthracite silver, matte black, or a chrome finish. The wheels are also available in either staggered or non staggered fitment, now a staggered fitment means that your rear wheels and tires are going to be slightly wider than your fronts, giving you that classic muscle car appearance, and that’s exactly what we’ve done on our 2000 V6 behind me. We have our gloss black 17x9’s on the front, and our gloss black 17x10 ½ ‘s on the rear, giving us that really aggressive stance. Now this will also help your traction as well, thanks to the fact that you get to run a big beefy tire out back to help you get that power down to the ground. The wheels are also available with a very cool deep dish option, now deep dish refers to the lip around the wheel itself, as you can see the face of the wheel is set further back into the rim, giving you that really nice lip that’s sure to get you noticed. If you want to check out what some of the other finishes might look like on your ride, then you’ll want to check out our 98 GT back there on the lift that’s sporting the chrome finish, or our 2000 GT back there on our dyno jet, sporting the anthracite silver look. Now whatever finish you decide to go with, rest assured that we have your back, with a 1 year warranty on our finishes, and a lifetime structural warranty on all wheels. Of course you can purchase these wheels individually if you like, however the smart move would be to take advantage of one of our pre built tire and wheel combinations. This pairs your new Bullitt wheels up with some of the top performing tires on the market today, in sizes that are guaranteed to fit your ride without rubbing, even if you’re lowered an inch or two. You also get to take advantage of our free mounting and balancing, optional nitrogen fill, and as always free shipping and handling. Installing a new set of wheels is something any backyard mechanic should be able to tackle, all you need to do is simply crack your lugs loose first, then jack up the car and swap the wheels, start to finish should take you about an hour using standard hand tools and a floor jack. So if you want to evoke that classic muscle car styling on your modern day ride, then these Bullitt wheels from AmericanMuscle will give you an aggressive look that’s sure to never go out of style.

18" deep dish bullitt wheels
I ordered 18" bullitt deep dish wheels, staggered look, for my 2001 convertable mustang GT. 285/35/18 in back and 275/35/18 in front. The people at American Muscle were very helpful and knew what they were talking about. My concern was rubbing with bigger tires and they assured me they would not rub and they were right. I wanted to achieve a more aggressive look and it s exactly what I was looking for. Next step will be to lower my stang next summer and will certainly be ordering my shocks and springs from AM.Helpful (7)

They look great and fit was perfect. The staggered look really sets it off. The 18 inch fills up the fender well slightly better than 17. I would recommend the wheels and tire combo to anybody. The tires were well balanced and produce a smooth ride. Well pleased and it made the car look faster sitting still.Helpful (11)

What a difference.... this has everyone saying what a difference. Worth the money easy to installHelpful (11)
Hello! I am trying to clarify which rim comes with this package. One picture shows the rim with the extra bolts around the parameter. Other pictures show the rim without these little bolts. I want the deep dish but do not want the ones with the decorative little bolts around the rim parameter. Thank you.
The Deep Dish Bullitt Anthracite Wheel & Sumitomo Tire Kit will come with the wheels that do not have the bolts along the perimeter. The included wheels are linked below. https://www.americanmuscle.com/deadsku4477.html
on a 95 gt staggered set up, witch tires go on the front the 265/35ZR 18 or the 235/35ZR?
Typically you go with the smaller tire up front, bigger tire in the rear.
Will the Ford Performance Running Pony Tri-Bar Center Caps fit these wheels?
Hello Skeptic, So the Ford Tri-bar center caps are going to be the exact same diameter as the center caps on the wheels the only difference is that the depth of the center caps are different. The ford center cap is not as long as the ones that come with the wheels so they do not lock into place. You may be able to use an adhesive to get them to stick i.e. silicone or similar product but that would be the only way.
Do these wheels have a big offset compared to the stock pony wheels?
These do not have a big difference with the stock pony wheels. The stock pony wheels came with a +30mm offset. The front wheels of this set will be +30mm and the rears will be +24mm.
What is the difference between the regular Bullitt and the deep dish. I can't tell from the photos.
Hello, Deep dish refers to the lip on the wheel. A deep dish wheel will have a wider lip.
These wheels are cast, and we hire a private manufacturer of which we aren't disclosed the information of.
The Deep Dish Bullitt Anthracite Wheel & Sumitomo Tire Kit will fit your 2001 Mustang GT with no problem! All of our wheel and tire kits will have no problem on lowered Mustangs as long as they are not lowered more than 2".
No your fine no need to change gears
No, a 275/40-18 tire is too large for the front of your S197 and you'd run into clearance issues. If you wanted to build your own wheel and tire package with larger tires, you could do 18x9 with 275/35-18 front and 18x10 with 285/35-18 rears without any problems at all. Hope this helps!
