Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a closer look at the Modern Billet™ upper and lower retro Billet grille options available for your 2013 Mustang GT. This retro inspired product is from industry leader Modern Billet™, if you’re a fan of that Billet styling, then you need to check these guys out. Exterior to interior, then have a ton of cool stuff available for your ride. Of course both these grilles are constructed using 100% lightweight quality Billet aluminum, and are available in your choice of either a bright polished finish, or a stealthy black finish shown back there on our GT. In addition since both grilles are designed using OEM Ford CAD data, you can expect a perfect fit on your Mustang. The unique feature with this upper grille is pretty obvious, as you can see on first glance it appears to get rid of that iconic Pony emblem, and those signature GT fog lights resulting in a very clean look, but the cool part is with this upper grille while it does get rid of that running Pony emblem, you can still retain those factory GT headlights, and have them hidden behind the actual grille itself, or you can choose to remove them completely like we’ve done with our 2013 here, it’s entirely up to you. Again using our 2013 for reference here in the shop, you can see the upper grille is a complete factory replacement, meaning you will need to remove your factory grille before getting started with the install of the new Billet unit. On the other hand, that lower grille is an overlay and that just means it simply attaches to the factory lower grille. Because you will need to remove the front bumper to install the new Billet grille, we’re going to call the upper grille an hour from start to finish, while the bottom overlay should only take you about a half hour. Of course the grilles are available separately so if you just want to go with the upper or the lower grille, but if you want to achieve a more dramatic look, you could try pairing both grilles together, and you’ll even save yourself a few bucks by purchasing both at the same time. So if you’ve been looking at your 2013 GT and wondering what it would look like to clean up the front end by deleting the Pony emblem and the GT fog lights, here’s your chance to get that look while still having the option to retain those fog lights, thanks to these upper and lower Billet grilles from Modern Billet™.

All in all good shipment packaged well fast shipping and install took probably about a hour just because I did both upper and lower grilles and swapped out corner lights all at same time removing the bumper was easy and also made the install easy. Just a few tools was needed nothing crazy. Love the look and fits snugged in the old hole for upper. Just wish there was something better for the lower grille without spending $$$ as far as just a overlay. But still looks great.Helpful (0)

Better then expected
Cleaned up the grill area. Love the option to hide the fog lights behind the grill. Install was not bad even though it requires taking off the bumper cover.Helpful (0)

Looks great, but...
Looks great after it was installed. But, this took a while. The grille was significantly smaller than the grille insert. I luckily had some longer screws that I could use, as the ones that came with it were too short. All in all, it looks great, but took 2 hours to install.Helpful (0)

Bang for the buck
Good price, I give 3 stars because the fit is mediocre. The lower grille, I had to use washer so the bolts didn’t fall through the huge holes in the grille. The upper grille sits facing way down if you put it all the way in, it says it works with fog lights but would work way better without.Helpful (0)

Retro Grille - Black (13-14 GT)
Bought this grille just before winter and finally got a decent day to install it. Able to do without fully removing front end but did pull too hard and damage my smoked grey fog light halo. Excuse to change over to the chrome ones though.Helpful (0)

Perfect to go with the Roush upper
I bought this saved money instead of buying the lower Roush grille to match my upper. It looks great! High quality! Took 3 minutes to install.Helpful (3)

Modern billet grill. 2014 mustang gt
Great grill set for the money. Upper grill has a couple small blend. But overall great parts for the money. If you are leaving your fog lights in I recommend test fitting the grill before you still the holes to mount it to check clearance. Pretty easy install.Helpful (4)
Can this fit on the v6? I don't like the pony cut out on the one made for the v6, i want to get rid of the pony completely... is it possible to use this grille?
Unfortunately not. This grille will only fit properly on the GT as the grille surrounds and front ends are slightly different. Check out the available grilles for your V6 at this link and click on 2013 V6 at the tab on the top: http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-grilles.html Hope this helps!
How does one go about mounting the fog lights behind the grille? I've seen it on multiple pictures listed but am baffled on how it is done!
The Modern Billet Black Retro Grille (13-14 GT) can be installed in front of the fog lights because the fog lights will have a mounting bracket that will connect to the inside of the grille.
Do these grilles not remove to factory honeycomb grilles? From the instructions it looks like these grilles install over the stock grilles. Can you remove the stock grilles and still install yours?
From the description section, it says it replaces the upper factory grille and the lower grille is only an overlay.
Running Pony Tri-Bar Grille Emblem can I add The Running Pony Tri-Bar Grille Emblem to this grille??
Yes You can. I added It when I installed this Grille to my 2013 GT
Can I install the lower portion of the grille, without taking the bumper off?
The lower portion is designed to be an overlay, but will still require that the bumper be removed in order to complete the installation.
I have cleaned mine several times with zero chipping. The only issue I've run into is that the material seems to tarnish rather quickly. I ended up with a chalky appearance within a very short time period and I have found no way to get it off. From other forums I'm finding that some people have resorted to painting their billet grilles since the powdercoat isn't really fixable.
I will say that they are from separate kits, as the stock mounting locations are retained if you choose to use the stock mounts. That said, you could probably do your own to move them, or opt to remove them and place smaller ones in the brake duct cover area on the front cover. If you choose to retain the stock location and mount, I would pre-fit the grill in to make sure it sits correctly before fastening the grill in.
It will work with fog lights. This grill replaces the inner honeycomb portion of the grill. From there, do nothing and keep your fog lights in place but obscured from pliant sight, or remove them completely by removing the three screws holding them onto the rear portion of the grill that sits inside the front bumper clip. The choice is yours. I drive mine all year so I kept the fog lights. Comes in handy during blizzards, haha.
You have to leave the bottom factory grill in place, otherwise you don't have anything to fasten the new grill to.
Yes, the lower grille will fit both the 2013 GT and V6. As for the upper, we've received lots of feedback requesting more grille options for the V6 Mustangs. There will be some new additions added to our inventory in the near future!
This grille combo has no ill effects on the light output of the factory fogs. If you are facing a flat wall directly in front of the car such as a garage wall you will see some slight horizontal shadow lines but they are non existent on the road while driving.
I'd say it would block less as the factory upper grill sides are blocked off for better wind resistance. That said an open grill or no grill always provides more airflow and lets more bugs and rocks in too.
You actually have either option. Check out the link below for complete instructions: http://1.cdn.lib.americanmuscle.com/files/2013-replacementgrille-manu.pdf Hope this helps!
It is highly recommended to remove the bumper cover prior to installing the billet grille to ensure proper installation.
Unfortunately not. This grille will only fit properly on the GT. Check out the available grilles for your V6 at this link and click on 2013 V6 at the tab on the top: http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-grilles.html Hope this helps!
