Will this fit with the new jet cobra intake manifold? I know the stock gt tower brace wont work and neither will the boss tower brace. But what about this? Cause I do not want to lose my tower brace for a manifold upgrade.

  • Within the text for the cobra jet manifold: •A new Computer Tune is required for installation. •Stock fuel rails can be reused for this application. •Nitrous oxide is not recommended for use with this manifold. •Stock and aftermarket strut tower braces designed to clear factory GT or BOSS manifolds will not fit. •Will require a custom air intake tube to mate to oval throttle body opening.

will this fit with a phase 2 roush supercharger ?

  • Unfortunately, the SR Performance Black Strut Tower Brace (05-14 GT, V6) will not clear a Roush Supercharger. The only strut tower we have that will clear superchargers or larger manifolds would be the Ford Boss 302 Strut Tower Brace (05-14 GT, V6), item # 53686, (http://www.americanmuscle.com/boss302-strut-brace-0512.html).

    Drastic Difference

I'm pleased to say that for me the difference was a drastic improvement, possibly because I installed it in a convertible. My Mustang is a recently purchased 2005 V6 and my first convertible. When going over rough pavement or hitting a hard bump, the "cowl shake" was ridiculous. You could see the dash, windshield frame, and hood shaking in different directions. The instability was extreme. Installation of the brace was easy. I made sure the washers were centered with the nuts so the end result would look good. I torqued the nuts back down to the Ford specification of 26 ft-lbs. At that tightness no deformity of the washers was noted. I wasn't expecting a miracle but when I went for the test ride it was like I was driving someone else's car. I would say the shake was 98 gone and the car cornered flatter. It felt much more stable even driving on smooth pavement. Again, my experience might be due to the fact that this is a convertible which of course is not as solid and stable as a coupe. For me this was WORTH EVERY PENNY!

    Wrong washers

The washers that come with this part are too small in diameter and the holes about 1/16 too big. What happens is that when the nuts arw torqued down , the washers are forgives down into the holes on the strut brace and it can cause the stud and nut to bend. I had to buy proper washers for the studs and large enough to cover the holes on the strut brace. This is not the first time a product from AM did not fit. I bought a hood scoop a few months ago and the template holes for the hood were off by at least a 1/8 " however I did not send in a comment at the time. It seems a bit of a no brainer to include the proper fitting washers and templates with the products that are not exactly cheap either. Other than that I am happy with the brace and the hood scoop.

Easy to install, and does its job

This was my first suspension related mod on my stock V6, so it was easy to see how the handling improved. On day-to-day driving you don't know it's there, but when pushing harder to corners the front-end behaves better, and there's definitely less push, making the steering more accurate. It's not the most dramatic improvement, but considering the ease of installation and the low price, knowing now the effect, I would buy it again.

    Simple and effective bolt-on mod

This install took less than 15 minutes and required no relocation of anything on my 2010 V6 convertible. There's good clearance everywhere (even though the instructions said to move something on the firewall). Remove 8 nuts, drop the brace on (it leans to the rear), drop on the included washers and reinstall the nuts. The car used to shake the nose going over bumps but after this install, it feels like one solid unit. It tightened everything up ... nice and firm.

The fit was weird but worth it in the end!

I hope theres an american muscle representative having a good enough day to read this but anyways.. This product came in just 3 days for me. I was excited to install it but the tools were in my dads truck so I hit my buddys garage and boy did the trouble begin (and not in a good way) I tried fitting it in on both side at the same time but that didn't work, then the two front sides then the back but the darn thing wouldn't go in! I had to grind the holes some to let the studs slip through, hit it with a mallet to go through and it finally went it. Works great I suppose, I drive with more confidence on curvy roads at higher speeds. Bumps are a joke now. The packaging concerned me a bit since it was just the product box with some tape on it..the black washers were awesome. Since I had to grind down the holes, could that have any effect on the performance of this item?

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

Grinding the holes to make them larger will not affect the performance of this brace. It shouldn't have needed that modification to fit your Mustang unless maybe it had been hit in the past? I'm sorry you had that difficulty with installing, but like I mentioned, the performance wouldn't be affected. If you have any other questions, just give our Customer Service a call and we'd be happy to help.

    SR Strut Tower Brace

After a quick strip and white powder coat this item really dressed up my engine. Handles like a new ride! Steering stays straight and true, no flexing or roll while going in and coming out of a turn. Feels like it's on rails. Best bang for your buck and quickly installs with ease!

    Looks Sharp!

I've had the tower brace on for a few weeks now. Super easy install! Took me about 20 minutes in the driveway. Seems a little stiffer, but it's winter here so hard to really test it out. I like the look it adds under the hood!

    Had to get creative

Hello fellow mustang owners! I recently purchased the Black SR Performance Strut tower Brace for my 2007 mustang GT. Delivery was prompt and upon opening the package i was impressed with the fit and finish of the product, it looked great. Install: This product normally has an extremely low difficulty level when it comes to installing it, and should only take in my opinion- 30 minutes. **This review will be suited more so for people having difficulty with the bars pre-drilled holes not lining up with the bolts of their strut towers** Upon simply opening the hood and removing the 4 bolts located at the top of each of the strut towers (see directions for proper descriptions) I placed the bar onto the bolts and saw that the pre-drilled holes on the brace did not line up with the cars bolts on one of the Strut towers. This suggested to me that i have a slight tweak in my frame due to some minor accidents in the cars past. Due to the bolts not lining up with the pre-drilled holes by a 1/4" (or about 6mm) on one side of the brace- I did some reading and found a fix. Place a proper floor jack for the weight of your vehicle centered on the K-member under the front of the car. You can use a piece of 2x4 lumber to aid in protecting the metal of the K-member. Use, caution but left the car into the air until the front tires are off the ground. This reversed the stresses of the cars weight and aided in the bar then lining up the the proper pre-drilled holes. Let the car sit for an hour+, then re-lower before unbolting your factory nuts to install the Brace. I saw that this was a fix for a majority of people who have had this issue in the past. Hopefully this will help at least one person who has the same situation. This products function: Upon install, the front of the car seems to handle tighter. This would be a good addition to install with other suspension upgrades. But by itself i would say it cleaned up the sloppy feel of the stock car (which had 82K miles on it) by at least 40-50%. Whenever you encounter a problem: sit back, do some homework, and come at it with a new point of view- you shall prevail. Over all - it made a difference to me, id recommend this.

Great Item, Now Even Better: Washers Are Included

Thanks to all of you past reviewers - your requests have been answered. The bag containing the instructions now has 8 black washers inside. It's a very nice, quality piece; very sturdy with a thick black coating. Looks great and performs well. Installation was pretty simple and straightforward, although I have a V6 and I found that I had to turn the coil pack end of the #4 spark plug wire to clear the bar. Then I rearranged the spark wires for #'s 4-6 at the 1st spark plug wire clip to allow the #4 wire end to stay where I rotated it to.

    Why didn't Ford do this?

Took 15 minutes to install and the difference was incredible. I hated all the body roll that the 2012 V6 had. This tower brace has significantly reduced body roll and handles so much better. Best mod I've done so far!

    Tight Front End

This Strut Tower Brace makes a huge difference in how my baby GT handles. She is tight and hot to drive around corners now. The steering is not too responsive but 1000 times better than how she used to be. She loves corners and bumpy roads now, yeahhh you dont have to worry about those front end floating off the lane into the other when it hits rough patch on the road. Installation was a breeze, fitment was perfect, no problems at all, 13 mm deep socket ratchet is all you need. Got the brace installed in less than 10 minutes and drove for 2 hours right after. Shipping was quick and the price is perfect. A Must have suspension upgrade for your Stang.

    First and Best Upgrade

Just bought a new 2014 Mustang V6 grocery getter and was a little disappointed with the weight distribution and body roll. For the price and quick installation, this was the best modification I could make to help firm up the nose of the car. It does the trick and is indeed noticeable. You could also upgrade the sway bars or lower the car, but start with this cheap and quick solution, plus looks good under the hood. I recommend the product!

Nice looking piece, a little work needed.

After looking at original braces i settled on this nice looking aftermarket piece. Installation was a breeze ,15 minutes tops. Only downfall were the holes are oval shaped and supplied washers if not centered perfect are tighten down into the holes. My only wish ,thoughts, is that the brace came with "smaller" holes for a more "exact" fit.

SR Performance Black Strut Tower Brace (05-14 GT, V6)

This strut bar is definitely the best bang for the buck. I have been a Kenny Brown fan for years and this keeps up with performance and built quality. The instructions are not really needed and they also don't include any information on the included washers. Take barely any time to install and right away you notice a big improvement over stock form. The car handles better, feels more solid and you really know that you have just installed a new part. I couldn't be happier! I chose this bar over others as it had the full 4 bolt per side mounting allowing for the most contact and rigidity possible.
