    Video Review & Installation

Justin: If you're looking for one of the most popular and one of the most affordable strut tower options for your stock intake manifold S197 GT or V6, well then the SR Performance Strut Tower Brace in black here might just be worth a look. The SR option is gonna combine aircraft-grade 4130 chromoly steel with a textured black powder coat for right around that $150 price point. While these simple four-bolt installation, will get a one out of three wrenches on your difficulty meter here, with more to come on that later in the video. So, a strut tower brace like this is one of those easy and affordable ways to make a subtle impact on your S197's handling. Helping to stiffen up the front and a little bit more, take some of the roll out of the car when cornering very hard. Now, I do say subtle because in the grand spectrum of handling parts, I would argue there will be other mods out there that will make a bigger impact to improving your handling such as sway bars, springs, and, of course, tires. But 99% of the time, a strut tower brace like this will be far more affordable and far easier to install than all of those other modifications I've just listed. But going back to the construction, I do wanna point out that SR has incorporated that aircraft-grade 4130 chromoly steel for the overall build here including the one-inch tubular parallel beam design and all finished in that textured black powder coat which looks great and low key under the hood. Now, if you don't prefer low key or anything like that, you want something that's certainly gonna pop a little bit more, SR does also offer a chrome variant of the same exact strut bar for a few bucks more. That, of course, you can find right here on the site. Now, in addition to your different finish options, another thing I believe is really cool with the SR option, maybe not cool right now, but is this blank plate section. If you go on the customer image section of the product page, you'll notice owners have customized this particular area in a number of different ways through maybe paint, different emblems, things like that. So, it kind of gives you an opportunity to customize your under hood or engine bay area a little bit more with the SR option. But, as we did point out at the very top of this video, guys, this particular strut tower brace will not clear those taller intake manifolds such as your Boss 302 or Cobra Jet or maybe even a positive displacement supercharger without modification. Sure, you can get crazy, add spacers, things like that but as it's meant to be installed, it will not clear those taller options. Now, if you do have something like that installed, you might need to look into some different options here on the site, maybe from BMR or even the Boss 302 option from Ford Performance. Now, with all that covered, let's quickly get into the installation with SR Performance option. And again, easy four-bolt install per side, so eight altogether for all my mathletes out there. Shouldn't take it any longer than 30 minutes to an hour depending on what you're working with. And here's my buddy, Joe to walk you through the job, in addition to giving you a quick tool breakdown.Joe: The tools used for this install were, a 3/8 impact driver and a 13-millimeter socket. So, the first step to this install is gonna be to remove the 4 strut tower nuts located on either side of the engine bay using a 13-millimeter socket. Next, you can place your strut tower brace on top of each strut tower. Next, you're gonna install the provided washers on top of the strut tower brace before you bolt it down. Now, you can just repeat this process on the other side and start tightening down your nuts. And that's gonna wrap up this review and install of the SR Performance Strut Tower Brace for your '05 to '14 Mustang. Thanks for watching. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at
