Had to get creative
Hello fellow mustang owners!
I recently purchased the Black SR Performance Strut tower Brace for my 2007 mustang GT. Delivery was prompt and upon opening the package i was impressed with the fit and finish of the product, it looked great.
Install: This product normally has an extremely low difficulty level when it comes to installing it, and should only take in my opinion- 30 minutes.
**This review will be suited more so for people having difficulty with the bars pre-drilled holes not lining up with the bolts of their strut towers**
Upon simply opening the hood and removing the 4 bolts located at the top of each of the strut towers (see directions for proper descriptions) I placed the bar onto the bolts and saw that the pre-drilled holes on the brace did not line up with the cars bolts on one of the Strut towers. This suggested to me that i have a slight tweak in my frame due to some minor accidents in the cars past. Due to the bolts not lining up with the pre-drilled holes by a 1/4" (or about 6mm) on one side of the brace- I did some reading and found a fix.
Place a proper floor jack for the weight of your vehicle centered on the K-member under the front of the car. You can use a piece of 2x4 lumber to aid in protecting the metal of the K-member. Use, caution but left the car into the air until the front tires are off the ground. This reversed the stresses of the cars weight and aided in the bar then lining up the the proper pre-drilled holes. Let the car sit for an hour+, then re-lower before unbolting your factory nuts to install the Brace.
I saw that this was a fix for a majority of people who have had this issue in the past. Hopefully this will help at least one person who has the same situation.
This products function: Upon install, the front of the car seems to handle tighter. This would be a good addition to install with other suspension upgrades. But by itself i would say it cleaned up the sloppy feel of the stock car (which had 82K miles on it) by at least 40-50%.
Whenever you encounter a problem: sit back, do some homework, and come at it with a new point of view- you shall prevail.
Over all - it made a difference to me, id recommend this.
