How is this canister designed? Is the inside like an X pipe or H pipe with packing material? Just wondering how this makes higher horsepower and torque like the description states. Trying to decide on an X pipe or this resonator to go with Borla S-Type axleback exhaust. Thank you.

    • The Borla Touring Resonator Muffler is designed to act as a muffler/X-pipe hybrid. This is used to lower the exhaust volume level on the "S" type cat back, and offers similar gains to the standard X pipe included with the catback.

I have a Procharged 2015 mustang v6 with Longtube headers, Bbk Catless H pipe, Flowmaster X pipe, and Borla S-Type exhaust. I am wondering if i replaced the X-pipe with this muffler would it quiet my system down a bit? I want to tone down the sound a little bit.

Just want to get this right, if this is paired with borla touring cat back, will it make sound as S type? Or is the the other way around, pairing it with S type would make it sound as touring cat back?

    • Adding this will increase the sound. As far as making the Borla touring sound like the S-type, probably not but it will increase the sound overall.

I have a 2015 v6, with BBK Shorty headers, Roush axel-back, and flow-master X pipe. If I can make this fit, should I place it between the x pipe and headers, or between the X pipe and roush exhaust? Am looking to decrease the exhaust noise but dont want to lose the growl and deepness.

    • This resonator is designed to fit with the Borla S-type cat back only. However, this would end up going between the X-pipe and the mufflers.

Will this increase sound or decrease sound with a stock exhaust setup? And if so how will it change the exhaust note.

    • This resonator is designed to work with Borla S type cat-back and would increase the sound a little bit.

      Be warry

This product is made to replace the xpipe in a borla cat back system with the intention of reducing rasp and to add depth of tone. With that said, my exhaust set up prior to install was BBK short headers into stock cats, stock resonator and into a roush axle back. The sound was loud, deep and had plenty of backfire. My assumption was that the stock resonator was restricting sound and possibly limiting the full potential that the roush axle backs could provide. So I ordered this muffler assuming, even though it’s a touring muffler meant to subdue sound, that it would still be more aggressive than the stock resonator. What I got instead is a complete loss of backfire and crackles, replaced with a much smoother rev. The tone sounds more like a refined German car rather than a loud screaming American muscle. At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. If you’re after a smoother tone from your v6, this will probably work fine for you. But if you’re like me, who’s after a set up that is raw, unrefined and in your face, this isn’t for you. Also worth noting that this part wasn’t intended for my exhaust set up, so your results will vary from mine.
