    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MGP’s front and rear caliper covers, fitting all 2005 and newer Mustangs. So here’s the deal, an aftermarket big brake kit is not exactly cheap, and painting your factory calipers can sometimes not give you the results you’re looking for. These covers from MGP are a great way to cover up those ugly factory calipers, while adding a little customization and helping to reduce the brake dust on your wheels. The covers are offered in a red or a black powder coat and with a number of different logo options. We have a couple here on the table including the red GT logo, the complete black Cobra setup, the red running Pony logo, and the black 5.0 logo, just to name a few. Taking a closer look at the calipers you’ll first notice a very durable T6 aluminum construction, along with that powder coated red or black finish. In addition we have the officially licensed logo right in the center, along with some simulated hardware for a more realistic look. The installation really isn’t all that bad and should take you about an hour from start to finish. Of course you will need to remove your wheels just to gain access to the calipers so make sure you have your jack handy. In addition you’re going to want to make sure 3/8” wrench just to tighten up the hardware on the covers themselves, but other than that everything is completely straightforward. So if you’re tired of looking at those rusty factory calipers and you don’t feel like forking out big dough for an aftermarket big brake kit, you’ll want to look into MGP’s caliper covers available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Mustang Styling. This set of four Matte Black MGP Caliper Covers are a great way to set off your new rims and they feature modern "Mustang" lettering on the front two covers and the iconic Tri-Bar Pony logo on the rear two. These Officially Licensed MGP Caliper Covers will give any Mustang a big brake race ready look that will turn heads.

Reduces Brake Dust. These Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they also act as a protective dust shield to help keep your rims looking cleaner longer.

Quality Construction. MGP makes their Caliper covers from light weight 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminum that is formed to the caliper for a perfect fit. The covers are then completed in a matte black powder coated finish with silver lettering for impressive styling. The installation brackets are TIG welded in place for extra security.

Easy No Mess Install. Painting your calipers can be messy and time consuming, but the MGP Caliper Covers simply install over your stock calipers and are held in place with the supplied clip and bolt. For a no muss, no fuss install.

Application. Designed to fit over factory brakes, this set of four MGP caliper covers include all the required hardware needed for installation on 2005 to 2009 Mustangs, including the V6, GT and Bullitt models.

    • GT - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09
    • V6 - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09

Fits V6 and GT's with factory brake calipers only, does not fit Shelby GT500.

Technical Note. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper is required for proper fitment. We have found that the MGP caliper covers will require the use of a small 1/4" spacer to provide proper clearance with our aftermarket Bullitt wheels, see drop down option above

Will these fit the original Pony package 17” Bullitt rims without spacers?

    Eitan

    • The MGP Matte Black Caliper Covers generally will not work on either stock or aftermarket Bullitt wheels without the use of a small spacer. We would recommend a small spacer like this to avoid any clearance issues: https://www.americanmuscle.com/14in-wheelspacer-pair.html

Review from MGP Matte Black Caliper Covers w/ GT Logo - Front & Rear (05-09 GT, V6)

Bad fit on stock calipers and wheels

Very expensive covers that do not fit properly. Will have to order spacers for the fronts and tweak the daylights out of the rear clips so they don't rub against the rotors.

Look great, don’t fit so well.

I have to say these look amazing. A definite head turner for sure and it does exactly what it’s meant to do. (Cover those ugly calipers) The only problem is they don’t fit so well in the rear. The front was no problem at all but the rear seem to scrape the rotors when I drive. I’ve tried adjusting them several times but I continue to have this annoying scraping noise come out. Like I said these look really good but beware that most of you will have this problem. Two things: these should either be cheaper or make them better. By the way I installed them after I had just got my AMRs because having these new sweet rims really brought out those ugly calipers and just so if anyone is wondering you don’t need any kind of spacers for these rims. The AMRs have have great clearance for these covers.

      Looks good but

Easy installation. The product looks good and does what its meant to do which is cover those ugly calipers. However, the rear covers did not fit my vehicle and they rub against the rotors. Had to get a refund on them (Great costumer service btw).

      Nice

Highly recommend these! I upgraded my 05 with a Staggered set of 20” wheels and tires. Got to looking at my car and noticed once I do this you are really going to notice rotors and calipers much more with the new wheels so went with the decision to upgrade to new cross drilled rotors better pads and topped them of with these covers. Wow car looks and stops a whole lot better and the covers really made it pop! Everyone thinks I upgraded to bigger calipers. These really cover well and after a month on the car still look great and less brake dust on rims. If your budget is tight like mine upgraded rotors pads and these covers are a great choice!

      Covers

They don't fit properly and rub on the wheels. Should sell spacers for the rims for clearance. Disappointed...

Better looking than the calipers they hide.

These things are a big improvement over seeing the rusty old calipers they cover. They will likely last a lot longer than painting the calipers so that is good. I think the hex head "bolts" are a bit cheesy. I'll probably paint mine so they don't stand out so much. I also think they were kind of pricey for what they are but overall I'm satisfied with them.

      Love the new look.

I upgraded brakes and painted calipers red for which I hated the look from day one. The covers look so clean and sharp. I'm happy I chose to go with them.

Nice Dress Up Addition to Your Pony

Love the flat black look, went on easy looks very nice, plus it gave me a chance to clean the back side of my wheels lol. I had used that G2 caliper paint in the past and it lasted a few months before it started peeling. Go with these and dont look back.

      NICE APPEARANCE

These caliper covers look great. Like most people who have installed these I had to refit at least one of them because the clip scraped on the rotor & squeaked. I have American Racing Shelby Thrust II wheels so the rear calipers were going to rub so I ordered a set of the 5/16" wheel spacers for the rear wheels. BE VERY CAREFUL not to hit the covers while remounting the wheels or the paint WILL chip. My one complaint is the powder coating chips very easily if touched with the wheel. I dinged one cover but was able to touch it up with a black sharpee. Yes they are very pricey for what they are but the appearance is great. Take your time installing so you don't chip them.

      Caliper Covers

I have after market wheels, so I had plenty of room to install covers, didn't even have to take off the wheels. Had no trouble with fit, and they look great.

Looks are GREAT, fitment not so great.

These covers look VERY slick and VERY sporty. factory calipers look nasty after some years and these covers hide those blemishes with style! installation was very straight forward and i didn't have any clearance issues between the wheel and face of the caliper cover (i have AM deep dish bullitts). the issue i did have however was the retaining clip rubbing the outer edge of one of my rear rotors. the space allowance i had to work with was VERY tight and the clips only made things EXTREMELY tighter. had to pull off the wheel and re-adjust because the squeaking was killing my high that i got from the cool looks. i really had to bend and tweek the cover's clip tabs as well as the clips themselves to eliminate the rubbing of the rotor. finally got things adjusted and no more rubbing. Overall, this is a very nice appearance mod especially with custom wheels but the rubbing problem is something MGP needs to address either with an alternative installation method or redesign of the clips.

Review from MGP Matte Black Caliper Covers w/ GT Logo - Front & Rear (05-09 GT, V6)

      Not Worth The Trouble!

The clearance between the factory wheel and the caliper is just barely enough. Had to install and reinstall 3 times to get the clearance tolerable. Wheel scraped paint off of cover on outside edges, touched up with black permanent marker. After getting clearance problem fixed, right rear cover clip was scraping the rotor when I did a test drive, had to reinstall that cover again! They look pretty good after install, however, they are technically overpriced and I would not have bought if I had known they would be so much trouble to install/adjust.

      • Response from AmericanMuscle

Sometimes, small spacers are needed to allow for the 1/8" required for clearance between the wheel and the covers. Bending of the clips during install can also aid in possible rotor scraping as well. I'm sorry you had such difficulties with your install, but glad to hear you like the look when all said and done. If we can ever be of help to offer advice or tips, please give us a call. We'd be more than happy to help in any way we can!
