    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MGP’s front and rear caliper covers, fitting all 2005 and newer Mustangs. So here’s the deal, an aftermarket big brake kit is not exactly cheap, and painting your factory calipers can sometimes not give you the results you’re looking for. These covers from MGP are a great way to cover up those ugly factory calipers, while adding a little customization and helping to reduce the brake dust on your wheels. The covers are offered in a red or a black powder coat and with a number of different logo options. We have a couple here on the table including the red GT logo, the complete black Cobra setup, the red running Pony logo, and the black 5.0 logo, just to name a few. Taking a closer look at the calipers you’ll first notice a very durable T6 aluminum construction, along with that powder coated red or black finish. In addition we have the officially licensed logo right in the center, along with some simulated hardware for a more realistic look. The installation really isn’t all that bad and should take you about an hour from start to finish. Of course you will need to remove your wheels just to gain access to the calipers so make sure you have your jack handy. In addition you’re going to want to make sure 3/8” wrench just to tighten up the hardware on the covers themselves, but other than that everything is completely straightforward. So if you’re tired of looking at those rusty factory calipers and you don’t feel like forking out big dough for an aftermarket big brake kit, you’ll want to look into MGP’s caliper covers available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Mustang Styling. This set of four Red MGP Caliper Covers are a great way to set off your new rims and they feature modern "Mustang" lettering on the front two covers and the iconic "GT" logo on the rear two. These Officially Licensed MGP Caliper Covers will give any S197 GT Mustang a big brake race ready look that will turn heads.

Reduces Brake Dust. These Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they also act as a protective dust shield to help keep your rims looking cleaner longer.

Quality Construction. MGP makes their Caliper covers from light weight 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminum that is formed to the caliper for a perfect fit. The covers are then powder coated for a long lasting high gloss look. The installation brackets are TIG welded in place for extra security.

Easy No Mess Install. Painting your calipers can be messy and time consuming, but the MGP Caliper Covers simply install over your stock calipers and are held in place with the supplied clip and bolt. For a no muss, no fuss install.

Application. Designed to fit over factory brakes, this set of four MGP caliper covers include all the required hardware needed for installation on a 2005 to 2009 V6 or GT Mustang.

    Will it fit my Mustang?
    • Bullitt - 08, 09
    • GT - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09
    • V6 - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09

Fits GT's with factory brake calipers only, does not fit Shelby GT500.

Technical Note. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper is required for proper fitment. We have found that the MGP caliper covers will require the use of a small 1/4" spacer to provide proper clearance with our aftermarket Bullitt wheels, see drop down option above

How much space is needed for the cover? I asked this question before but it disappeared. I have AM bullet wheels and would like to use these covers but need to know how much space they take between the caliper and the wheel when installed. Thanks

    bobo

    • Since you have our Bullitt Wheels, you will want to also purchase the 1/4" spacer to provide proper clearance when using these caliper covers.

Do I need spacers? I have a 2008 GT convertible w 18 inch wheels do I need spacers and which size? Also- my husband is not mechanically inclined . Would you advise I go to the dealership to install or a tire shop or body shop?

    Slymiami

    • As I just learned the hard way, it really depends on the type of wheel on your vehicle. The mfg. indicates that you need 1/8" clearance between the caliper cover and inside of your wheel. I put the covers on a short while ago and then swapped 18 inch Saleen style rims for 18 inch Bullitt style rims without checking the clearance. As soon as I hit the road, I could hear the loud scrapping sound of the wheels against the caliper covers. The fix is an easy install of 5/16" spacers that slip right over wheel studs between the axle and wheel. If H can change a tire, he can install these spacers, otherwise most any tire, repair or body shop will do the job.

Will these fit a 2010 Mustang GT? Also, will they have clearance issues with 19x8.5 Deep Dish Bullitt Wheels?

    Spencer

    • These Caliper Covers are only compatible with the 05 - 09 year range of mustangs. For a 2010 Mustang GT you would need the MGP Mustang Red Caliper Covers w/5.0 Logo, item 81130, https://www.americanmuscle.com/calipercovers-2011-50-red.html. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch of clearance is required between the caliper cover and the wheel, so sometimes a small spacer is necessary with some aftermarket wheels.

Have an issue with one of the covers rubbing, Keep making adjustments, but it continues to come back. Would be nicer if they covered the entire factory calipers.

      Good, but one issue

The covers look great, and are easy to put on. However, the clips should be redesigned in some way. You have to really bend the clips to keep them from grinding on your rotor and making a terrible noise. I had a fun time heating them and bending them.

      Partially satisfied...

Front caliper covers fit great. Rear calipers rubbed on outer edge of rotor. Had to grind down rotors to stop the noise. Called AM, explained issue. They issued a small credit which was great service. However, the credit expired (was not made aware) before my next purchase and was lost...

      Caliper Covers

These covers add a showroom look to my mustang and were easy to install, yet the brackets for the rear calipers tend to squeak since they sit on top of the rotor.

WITH XTREME STOP ROTORS! Doesnt Fit.

I have on XTREME STOP rotors (from AM) and the rear caliper covers did not fit. During the drive I would hear the metal clips grinding against the rotors. I even had my mechanic sand my caliper down as much as possible, but still no avail. I used zip ties instead of clips, they worked for a month but broke, and now I lost a cover. -$200 for me.

Like the look but kind of cheap.

I really like the looks of these covers. However when installing the first time the clips that hold the rear covers on scraped on my rotor and made a screeching sound. I reformed them and tried again with the same result. Ditched the clips all together and went another route that worked a lot better and had no contact with the rotor. Also be cautious of what type of wheels you have on your car. I had the fr500 wheels with the deep lip in the rear and they impacted the cover. I had to buy the spacers for the rears and now the clearance is good. Overall I like the look of them but the hassle to get the rears on was not really worth it.

      looks good. bad fitment

i purchased these with my new wheels and tires and i was a bit disappointing with them. the front ones went on fine but the rears dont fit well. the brackets rub on the rotor and after attempting to grind and modify the brackets i just cant get them to fit. even after i was sent replacement brackets they also rub. product looks great, i just cant make it fit.
