    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I have with me 3 different brake pad options, all from Hawk Performance. We’re looking at the ceramic, the HPS, and the HP+, for both front and rear that will offer a broad range of performance that will suit everything from a bone stock daily driver, to an all out race course monster. Any one of these pads will far outperform your stock pads in just about every way, more braking performance, less fade and dust. However it’s very important you select the right pad for your application, so with that in mind, let’s break these 3 options down a little further. First up is the ceramic option from Hawk. These are going to be an ideal OE replacement and be perfectly suited for any daily driver, they’re going to bite strong without needing to be hot, be very quiet, and offer very minimal dust. This is all thanks to that ceramic compounds, which offers a nice balance between performance and everyday streetability. The next pad, the Hawk HPS will be right in the middle between the ceramics and the HP+ and will be for a daily driver or a weekend warrior, whose car does see a little track time and are just looking for a little bit more bite, and less fade. These pads utilize a therocarbon compound which does benefit from a little heat in order to perform their best but still offer great performance when cold. It is worth pointing out that these pads can be a little noisy when cold, and will definitely put off a little bit more dust than the ceramics, but all around, the HPS are a solid performer. Finally, we have the HP+. These are going to be for someone who subjects their Mustang to road courses and auto crossing where repetitive fade and high heat can kill lesser pads. Can you use these pads on the street? Yes, however, these pads feature a high temperature specific compound with a very high friction coefficient, which means these pads need to be hot and stay hot in order to perform at their best, like on a road course or an auto cross track. Once hot, these HP+ pads will bite hard, and offer great performance with very little fade, these pads tend to be very noisy and put off a good amount of dust, however since they’re geared more towards a race car versus a show car, most folks should be fine with that. Installing these pads from Hawk or any brake pads at that matter is a pretty simple task if you’ve never tackled brakes before. Due to the aggressive compounds of these pads, Hawk included a grease, to be used in conjunction with the included shim located on the back of the pad just to keep the noise level down. It’s very important that you use the grease on the back of the pad and not on the front of the pad, just so you don’t mess up your new brakes. Overall, getting the fronts and rears installed should only take you about 2 hours from start to finish. When it comes down to it, brake pads and tires are 2 of the biggest factors when it comes to helping your car stop faster. So try upgrading your Mustang to a quality pad like one of these Hawk options, and discover the difference in your braking performance.

Great Stopping Power. Give your New Edge some serious stopping power with Hawk's Performance ceramic pads. Using a ceramic compound like that used on many high-end sports cars, these pads brake much better than your Mustang's stock pads, plus they feel and sound better too. Make your 'Stang feel like a real sportscar with a set of Hawk Ceramic pads.

Daily Driver Friendly. Hawk Performance Ceramic pads bite strongly but smoothly right out of your driveway without being warmed up, making this a great choice for your daily driver. Plus, these pads use a unique linear friction profile which allows your ABS braking system to work more effectively.

Minimal Dust & Noise. The Hawk Ceramic pads use a compound that allows your brakes to work almost silently and dust far less than stock pads or even other high performance pads. They're a great choice for drivers who want to be able to show n'go with a minimum of prep time.

Application. This set of Hawk Performance Ceramic pads is sold as pair for the Mustang's rear brakes only. They are designed for the 1994 to 2004 Mustang V6 or GT only. Will not fit the Bullitt, Mach 1, or Cobra. Set includes driver-side and passenger-side brake pads.

      Decent for the money

The pads work great if you want a little More of a bite in the initial braking force but don't see that much of an improvement over stock. Do create a lot more brake dust but if that's not an issue to you I would recommend these any day.

Hawk Performance Brake pads go the extra mile.

I've been using Hawk brake pads for a year and a half now on my 03 mustang gt centennial addition; this is my second set. Great pads; I plan to continue using them.

      Nice Rear Pads

Brake Pads on the rear can be much less important but as long as they last you might as well have a good set of pads. These fit the bill in every way. Installation can be a bit difficult on the rear compared to the front because you really need a special tool but you can get by without it. Over all the value is there and if you swap these along with the Hawk Streets for the front you will see a nice improvement over whatever you bought from the auto parts store. \ Buy these and don't regret it.

      Hawk ceramic brake pad installed

I had both the Hawk ceramic pads and J&M steel braided brake lines installed front and rear. Install with fluid was $250. I took the time to bed the pads, and wasn't thrilled with the difference over stock at the time. But once everything cooled off and I drove it again, the difference was noticable. Not huge, but an improvement. Pedal is less spongy, and braking seems shorter but I can't measure that so its a guess.

      Great pads

These are great! Smooth fit and produce very little brake dust. These are definitely a step up from the "street/strip" pads. I definitely recommend these pads as a great replacement for worn out stock pads.

      Stop

I purchased these pads along with a set of cross drilled and slotted rotors from powerstop. This combination is incredible. These pads cleared up a good bit of my brake fade. Surprisingly, these brake pads produce very little dust considering how well they perform.

Best brake pads for street use!

These pads are probably the best brake pads I have ever used. They have excellent stopping, no noise and almost no dust. What more could you ask for? They are perfect for high performance daily drivers. Thanks AM!

      eh

These pads are alright. they squeak and theyre not sensitive enough. you have to push down harder than regualar brakes for them to kick in.

      Hawk Performance Ceramic Pads

Replaced my stock pads that were completely shot with these and couldnt be happier. Brakes seem much more responsive and stopping is easier. There is practically no brake dust anymore. I do notice that sometimes at the track when they heat up that they squeak. But for daily driving or back roads they are great. Only when you really test them do they squeak and even then they still perform. Install was like putting stock parts in. Less then an hour for all 4 wheels using jack stands. Must buy for your stang

      Rear Brakes

Replaced both the front and rear pair at the same time. Could feel a big difference right away with stopping power. Hardly no brake dust and not a single squeak out of them. Very pleased.
