    Review & Install Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, and checking out a set of these bright chrome OE style headlights for all 99-04 Mustangs. These headlights are great for someone who wants to make the front end of their New Edge Mustang look like new again, by replacing your worn out factory headlights with a one piece factory like design featuring a crystal clear lens and a bright chrome housing. Not only will these help you get that show room appearance once again, but they also greatly improve your night time visibility, by eliminating those cloudy yellowed stockers. You’ll be happy to know that installing these headlights is a very easy task, thanks to the headlight mounting system used in these cars. All you need to do is simply remove the two mounting tabs from each headlight, and then unplug the harness. Simply reinstall in reverse order, and you’re done, everything should take you about 30 minutes. However if you do have any problems you can always reference the detailed installation video located on this page. So if the front end of your New Edge Mustang isn’t exactly looking like new anymore, then a set of these chrome OE headlights might just be the fix you’re looking for.

Clean Styling. These Axial Chrome Mustang Headlights with black trim accents are the perfect replacement for your old worn out lights and will have any 1999-2004 mustang looking as if it just rolled off the showroom floor. The one piece design fits perfectly into the stock location for a clean sleek look. These are the same style lights that were featured on the 1999-2001 GT and V6 Mustangs from the factory.

Improves Visibility. Now you can improve your night visibility just by replacing your old weathered and yellowed stock headlights with a brand new set of crystal clear chrome headlights from Axial.

DOT Approved. Equipped with dual element 9007 bulbs for high/low beams this pair of Axial Mustang Headlights are DOT (Department of Transportation) approved for legal street use under compliance # QR1200056.

Stock Chrome vs Stock Black Housing? *This is more of an "opinion" question* I have a red 99 v6. The factory headlights are in OK condition but I want to replace them because my HID's just went out and now my car feels boring again. I know these are completely different because the bulb isnt changing just the housing, but I'm sick and tired of fussing with HID's and want something new. What would look better, the chrome or black? I'm leaning towards black because I have black rims, black shorty antenna, black interior and black decklid with black stripes and decals. Would that be an overboard of black though? Thanks! 5 answers

      Perfect fit

I installed these on my '99 Cobra which I have had since new. This is my third set in 20 years and by far it is the best as far as fit and finish. There was however a lot of cursing on the passenger side install. I didn't realize that the plastic guidance peg had broken off inside the hole when I removed the old headlight. Of course the new one would not install. After a couple of hours I realized the problem and was able to dig the old peg out. of the car. Then the new light fit like a charm.

      Early problems

I bought these a few months back to replace my old workout headlights. Unfortunately I already have a leak in one and I can never keep the beams in one direction.

      Wasn’t OE style

The way it’s listed is confusing. These lights is more of the chrome look. My GT is a 03 and the original Ford lights that came on the car matches the Axial black stock lights. So if you trying to keep the original look on a 03 GT, get the black stock version. AM handle it smoothly with the return.

      Axial OE Style Headlights (clear)

These headlights are better than O.E.M. quality. They are very well made and they are very bright. They come with new bulbs, but the locking devices are not compatible with the factory ones on the car, and the locking devices on my lights fit a little loose, so I used the stock bulb locking rings and they worked great and the bulbs were locked in nice and tight. The lights were as easy to install as the stock lights. The day after I installed them there was a torrential rainstorm, and no water got inside the light housings when I drove my car.

      Fitment

I have ordered the smoked headlights many times. These are obviously a tighter fit as I had a hard time getting them right. I bent 2 clips and actually broke one of tabs on the right headlight. My advice would be to take time to get them in the sweet spot. I tended to get aggressive with the install. Cold and rain is not the time to do this.. I was able to get them in tight but my left side horizontal adjustment may not be working correctly. I may have to order some more but I will go with the smoked as they seem to fit much easier.. Plus the are dirt cheap.

      headlights

lights look great, although left side did not fit correctly. after about a half hour i found the bulb locking ring was hitting the wall behind the headlight and would not let the light back far enough. i had to trim the back side of the ring to let it slide back far enough to get the pins in. the other side took about 10 min. and they are hard to line up.

      OE Style Headlights

Took about 45 minutes to install only because you have to massage the lights into conforming to shape for the tabs. This is not a flaw as it keeps the lights snug and in place. The light projection and appearance were exactly OE. The dealership mechanic discovered that the passenger side focus adjuster did not work at all. However he was able to match the driver side to it. The focus point was higher than usual but acceptable so I decided to keep them. American Muscle did respond when I sent a comment. They said it can take up to ten minutes of turning before the adjuster moves sometimes? I don't know how that works but it is something you could run into so I decided to write this.

      Cleaner look.

Replaced the old lights due to the typical hazed over lenses. Can definitely tell a difference with these. The bad to these, the opening for the light bulbs had a lost of plastic built up on them so had to clean it up a lot before I could get the bulbs in the housing.
