- How to Install Wheels on Your 1979-2013 Mustang
Hey everyone, I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a look at our AmericanMuscle GT500 Style Wheels for your 2005 and up Mustang. GT500’s have always been one of the baddest Mustangs on the block and now your ride can enjoy the stylings of the 2010 GT500, thanks to these split 5-spoke wheels. The wheels are available with 3 different finishes, including a black painted finish, a triple dipped chrome finish, or a black machined finish. As for the sizes, the wheels are available in either an 18” diameter with an 8 inch front and 9 inch rear, or a 19” diameter with an 8.5 inch front and a 10 inch rear. Staggered fitment is cool for a couple of different reasons. First off, it looks awesome. A wider rear wheel not only improves your stance, but also helps get that power down to the ground thanks to the wider rear tire and contact patch. Not only that, it also makes for more responsive handling as well, thanks to the narrow front tire. It’s a win-win. Now, you can purchase these wheels without tires if you want; however, the smart move would be to take advantage of one of our wheel and tire combos that pair your new GT500 style wheels up with some of the better performing tires on the market today in sizes that are guaranteed to fit without rubbing, even if you’re lowered an inch or two. Not only that, you also get to take advantage of our free shipping and handling, free mounting and balancing, and optional nitrogen fill. Remember, you 2007 and up folks have to keep in mind your vehicles are equipped with a TPMS sensor. This means a tire pressure monitoring system that needs to be addressed when ordering new wheels. These aluminum AM wheels are extremely durable, but if you ever encounter any problems, every rim features a lifetime structural warranty, as well as a one year warranty on finish, you can’t beat that. There are very few mods on the market today that can change the attitude of any ride like a new set of shoes. These AmericanMuscle wheels are sure to offer the modern aggressive stylings that look great on any Mustang.

Mounting & Balancing: AmericanMuscle offers professional mounting and balancing on all wheels and tires when purchased together on the same order. This will allow you to swap out your old wheels for your new set when they arrive.
What is TPMS? The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS for short) is a factory installed safety feature on all 2007 and newer Ford Mustangs that alerts you when your tire pressure drops to an unsafe limit.
How do I keep my TPMS feature? Aftermarket wheels do not come with TPMS sensors. However, if you select 'Add TPMS Sensor Kit' and your specific year range from the options listed above, we'll install the TPMS Sensors in your new wheels!

Wheels could be better...
Since AM manufacturers these wheels, I'm sure they want to keep costs as low as possible. This leads to the following: The wheels are VERY heavy, I can definitely feel the added weight in my 2014 GT steering wheel. The edges where the spokes are very sharp. I cut my hand cleaning them one day so be careful. I will be selling these for some lighter weight Forgestar's.Helpful (1)

2014 Shelby Mustang GT-500 is my dream car. Always loved the 2010-14 GT-500 Five spoke wheel was my favorite stock wheel. Not being into the whole black wheel craze the Chrome GT-500 wheels where perfect for me. Talked to Krystal (great rep 1st class service all the way). Wheels shipped fast. Came in in good shape. They look fantastic on the car. Fit and finish are great. Only problem was the balancing was quite a bit off on all four wheels but Krystal and the customer service team acted fast and professional and made it right. Very happy with the wheels. Very happy with Krystal, and very happy with my purchase and experience with American Muscle. Highly recomend these wheels. I Get compliments all the time. Now I own a GT-500 even If its only the wheels.Helpful (5)

Look great, but cant balance them
These wheels look killer on my 06 gt but I have had incredible difficulty getting them balanced at a few different shops. They came from AM "balanced" with the Sumitomo wheel combo but were way off. I still get significant wobble at 68 to 75mph despite 3 rebalances. I know you get what you pay for but I thought I could at least get a balanced wheel and tire combo as a baseline. Not sure I would purchase again because of the balancing issues.Helpful (8)

Will GT500 wheels clear caliper covers? We have 2008 GT with mgp caliper covers. Will 2010 GT500 style 18 inch wheels clear them?
I have just installed the 18" GT 500 wheel an tire combo on our 2007 Mustang GT convertible. I think these wheels should clear your caliper covers, because I have more room around my calipers than I did with the stock 17s that came on the car. Pics of the car are posted here on the site, in GT 500 wheel area. It's under Dave6207. Hope this helps.
Will Brembo brake upgrade fit on a 2009 mustang GT with these wheels?
Does the Ford Performance Brembo 6-Piston Brake Upgrade Kit - 15 in. Rotor (05-14 GT, BOSS 302, GT500) seen on this website fit?
Will my old 2008 GT tire sensors work with these rims, or do I need to buy new ones?
We recommend purchasing new TPMS sensors with new wheels!
I have a 2011 Mustang gt performance package with Brembo Brakes . Will these wheels fit my car ?
These wheels will work on the Mustang GTs that came factory with the Brembo brake package.
Unfortunately, the factory center caps will not fit these Wheels. This is because Ford center caps have shorter clips in the back.
I found that when I tried to use a cross bar to install my wheels, the holes for the nuts were too small so I used a spark plug socket and it was thin enough to fit right into the slot. I hope that helped.
The 235/50-18 tires should only be used on rims up to 8.5" and with 18x9 wheels, we'd recommend upgrading to the 255/45-18 tires for proper fitment.
Simple installation for anyone.
