GT500 Original Equipment. This Ford Finned Differential Cover is the same exact one found as original equipment on the 2013 Shelby GT500 with the Track Pack option. Designed with cooling fins to reduce overall gear oil temperature to improve gear and bearing life, this Differential Cover features fittings for differential cooler pickup and return lines, as well as an oil temperature sensor.

Finned Aluminum Reduces Heat. Constructed from light-weight cast aluminum the Ford Mustang 8.8" Differential Cover features a finned design that dissipates heat much faster than the stock unit to prolong the life of your ring and pinion gears.

Recommended Upgrade. When changing your differential cover it is recommended to upgrade to fresh Royal Purple Synthetic Gear Oil. You will need 3 quarts of Gear Oil.

Application. This Finned Ford Differential Cover is designed to fit the 1986-2014 Mustangs equipped with the 8.8" solid axle rear end, including the 2011-2014 V6, 1986-2014 GT, Bullitt, Mach 1, BOSS, Shelby GT500 and 1993-1998 SVT Cobra. It will not fit 1999-2004 Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) equipped SVT Cobras.

Technical Note. The Installation of the Differential Cover may require longer bolts as the factory bolts may be to short.

        1 2003 GT - SilverGT1 Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Does Not Fit 2003 GT

Will not clear the spare tire wheelwell. The fins stick out too far. Really deformed the sheet metal. Would like to post a picture. Not sure where to do that at though.

        5 2012 GT500 - ArmyBombTech Installation Time: Afternoon

        Solid Ford OEM Quality Part.

My car originally came with the same cover minus the the drain/fill holes which is no bueno, so I waited to buy this one until I needed to change the diff fluid. After install, I used a hand suction pump and hose to fill the rear diff because the fill hole is inaccessible using just the bottle that the gear oil is in. Install was fairly simple except you will need to lower the panhard bar. It is in the way. Luckily my panhard bar is adjustable because the rear end shifted when I disconnected it. So I had to spend extra install time to get the rear centered again. Maybe putting jackstands on the rear axle might prevent it from shifting?

        4 2003 Mach 1 - Rusty1 Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

Unit itself is great, needs new hardware

I didn't realize when I purchased but when while installing the cover, the factory bolts wouldn't reach far enough. Be sure to purchase longer bolts before you install.

        2 2000 V6 - JamesW Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

The cover is great. How ever the customer service was awful. All the lady did was make excuses. When asked for supervisor put me on hold to come back and argued. Asked for sup again placed on hold. All she did was make excuses and lie. 1 the spec,s your website states for the plug thread is wrong. Its a 11m fine thread or 7/16 fine thread. This was discovered after I had already went to 3 hardware stores and 2 fastner speciality shops and the Ford dealership. AM charges 146 for this part no plug supplied the Ford dealership charges 90 bucks for same part with plug supplied. I took the one from AM in the box to Ford . They brought the same one in the same box all part numbers the same made in same place supplied by same buyer opened it ford me and there was the plug. So cover is great. AM customer service horrible. I have spent alot of money with AM the past year. Not sure I will buy agan from AM anytime soon..... Anyway I hope the correct thread size will help you guys so you don't have the same experince I did.

        5 2012 GT - Frac72

Good Cover - Make sure you Order the Right One!

The cover is great and fitment is tight with an aftermarket panhard bar (about 0.5" clearance). MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE RIGHT ONE. AM has a couple cersions of this and one of them is the COVER ONLY! NO HARDWARE came with it so it won't go on because the factory bolts on the factory GT cover are too short. You will also be missing the vent plug. The bolts are UNOBTAINIUM! If you find them at a dealer, they want $16/bolt for 10 bolts so the bolts locally cost more than the cover

How much rear clearance is required over the stock rear diff cover for this one? My car is a Crown Victoria with an 8.8 and I'm concerned about sway bar clearance.

What are the torque specs for the cover bolts? I assume they may be different than a stock steel cover.

      • Stock differential cover bolt torque should be used.
