Review & Installation Video

Hey I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm taking a closer look at Raxiom's Smoke Projector Halo Headlights fitting all 2010-2012 Mustangs. Raxiom is the leader in aftermarket Mustang lighting, offering unique styles in an OEM-quality fit. If you've been around the site for a while, then you should recognize these headlights from our 2012 Mustang GT Project Car, known as Project Blackout. Now, these lights offer a few different features. First with the headlights off, they give off a very stealthy intimidating appearance, which in my opinion looks great. But it's when these headlights are actually on that you see what separates these lights from the competition. First up we have a projector style bulb which is going to give you that bright focused beam of light that should improve both your day and nighttime visibility. In addition to that projector lighting, these lights are also equipped with a very cool Halo accent lighting, as you see here, which is totally unique. Now rounding out the package we're looking at amber side-markers as well as 3 LED bulbs for even more styling. Now before we get into the install, it is worth mentioning that these headlights are not intended to be used with daytime running lights or factory HID headlights. Now, when you are ready to tackle the install, just give yourself about an hour to get everything bolted up, you will have to pop off the front bumper cover and splice in two wires, but everything after that is completely plug-n-play. Now since this is a Raxiom product you do have the benefit of their industry leading 2-year warranty, just for a little added peace of mind. When it comes down to it, some people may prefer the simple OEM-style lights, whereas others want to do everything they can to make their car unique, and stand out in the crowd. If you're one of the latter, then your 2010-2012 Mustang will definitely benefit from a set of these Raxiom Smoke Projector Headlights, found right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Highbeams? The description says these headlights use H9 bulbs instead of the factory H13s. Does this mean I lose the ability to use my highbeams or are H9 bulbs dual-filament like the H13s?

  • The H9 is a single filament. The projector utilizes a shutter to alter beam pattern.

Will this work with aftermarket Bi-Xenon HID's? I have Bi-Xenon HID lights and I'm wondering if these will work with them. The bulbs are H11's

  • Aftermarket HID kits will work fine in these lights, you won't have any issues installing them. Factory HIDs on the other hand, will not work. The factory HIDs bulbs are incompatible with these lights because they use a slightly different mechanism to attach to the light housing.

    Great look

The only thing I don't like about these lights is that they were never meant to be compatible with led lights.

    Not Worth It

These headlights look great however they fog up because they are not sealed properly also I'm on my 3rd set now! The first pair I was sent had a defective halo on one headlight the 2nd pair worked fine for a few days then one of the integrated bulbs went out. Now finally on my third pair, they seem to be working fine but they are both really foggy inside from condensation.

    Could've got better one

Wasn't the best product I got from AM, could've spent my money on something better. Got one high beam only working, didn't want to return it because I already paid for installation which was about $130. Didn't exactly fit and can barely see at night. Getting rid of them for sure and might just go back to the stock ones which were brighter.

    Easy install and looks great

The headlights came without a scratch and were very easy to install using the install video on Americanmuscle.com. the hardest part is lining up the bolts but once you do that your golden.

    so close

the aggressive styling for this product is definitely apparent and it is a good bang for your buck, until you realize they used a warm yellow H9 bulb for your headlight. why after having pure white accent LEDs and pure white CCFL Halo use something so cheap and unappealing as a warm yellow bulb. it makes the whole case look cheap, when in reality it is a nice fit headlight replacement. also an H9 bulb is harder to find then say H11 so it becomes more complicated to try to replace the poorly placed warm yellow H9 bulb.

    Faulty Parts

Do not buy these headlights unless you wish to replace them every 1-2 years. The warranty lasts for 2 years which is about when it will fail. The internal components are of low quality and the headlights do not have a good seal leading to water filled headlights.

    Neck Breaker

As this is a pretty common mustang headlight I would be lying if I said this will make you stand out from other stangs, but it definitely drags eyes across the road. This is basically the official light of an aftermarket mustang. (A little friendly advice, this reuses factory bulbs, so don't be expecting HID headlights after installing this).

Aggressive look with awful light output

The headlights look super mean and aggressive. My only problem is I live in the country and I can't see anything at night. I tried replacing with LED's but I can't figure out the bulb size. There are no h9 bulbs that are dual beam, what size do you guys suggest buying?

    Great looking Mod

I love the aggressive styling and look they give my 2010 Mustang. The "smoked" look really goes with the black color styling of my pony. However since you must remove the front bumper cover, I would recommend to have them professionally installed. I had mine installed at my local Ford dealer. The service manager and techs loved the new aggressive look. The service techs recommended not to use the provided wire splices. Instead they spliced, soldered and wrapped all the connections to prevent corrosion.

    Love the look

It completely transformed the front look of my mustang, I love everything about them, definitely a good buy, way better then the ugly stock mustang headlights, but you do need to adjust the height that the headlights are at, mine aimed extremely low, just adjust them and then done.

    Great

The headlights are a great addition to my mustang. I would change the the bulbs in there because they dont match the halo and dont give off enough light

    Nice look, bad visibility

My first set had a broken bulb and lense. Had to wait another week to get a good set in the mail. Like most reviews are saying...awesome look to your stang, but dont expect that to transfer into visability. Its not the worst, but is significantly less than OEM. Install took me 45 min including aiming them, it was pretty simple. Dont be intimidated by removing the bumper it's much easier than it sounds, just get a second person to help so you don't accidently drop it.

    Looks Great!

these headlights changed the whole look of my car. It has a "mean" look as I've been told by friends. The Install was pretty simple it took me a little over two hours, the only thing I didn't like was how little light it emits. I was recommended to buy LED lights to make them stronger.
