Hey, guys, Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today I'm bringing you a quick overview and installation of the K&N drop-in replacement air filter, which will be fitting all 2015 and newer Mustangs. So in this video, I'll be going over the benefits of adding the K&N drop-in filter to your S-550, and I'll even touch on the materials and construction. I'll top the video off with the install, which I'll let you know upfront gets a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, because it really is a simple drop -in replacement. The K&N drop in replacement filter I have here today will be for any 2015 or newer Mustang owner who's looking to pick up a more effective air filter to keep out the harmful elements, while also increasing a slight throttle response difference as well as the acceleration. Now even though the S-550s are relatively new, it's also gonna be for the guys out there who have a high mileage S-550 and it's really just time for a replacement. This is going to be a direct fit replacement for that stock air box filter, and does perform a lot better considering it is a part of the famous K&N construction. So K&N has been making air filters such as this for a very, very long time. And because of that, they're one of the most well-known options on the market and one of the most effective at that. Now with that said, all that K&N construction I'll touch on in just a second. But I do want to point out this is going to be one of the options out there that will be a lot less expensive than picking up an entirely new air box system as a replacement. So instead, this is gonna be for the guys out there who are on a budget and wanna just pick something up really quick and easy in order to get that throttle response and acceleration increase. Now with that said, if you're picking up an after market cold air intake or air box, this option from K&N is not going to be for you. This is specifically designed to work with the stock air box and for the guys out there only looking for an air filter replacement and not an entirely new system. So K&N does claim that this will increase your throttle response and acceleration off the line. But, of course, guys, I don't want you to expect a world of difference when it comes to horsepower and torque gains. I would just expect some single digit increases in that department. Now with that said, you can expect a slight increase in the throttle response, acceleration, even the engine growl, and, of course, the performance as far as keeping out the harmful elements. Now that's all gonna be thanks to the materials and construction that go into this from K&N. K&N does construct this out of layers of specially treated cotton gauze, which are sandwiched between epoxy coated layers of wire mesh. Now in between that, they have a special grade oil, which, of course, is very specific to K&N's process, very unique to their own construction, which then fills in the layers in between the cotton and gauze at each one of their strands. If you are interested in picking up the drop-in replacement air filter for your stock air box, expect to be spending just about 50 bucks, a very reasonably, budget friendly price tag here, significantly less than an entire stock air box replacement. Shifting gears over to the install, if you can even call it that, like I said in the beginning, this one's gonna get a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. It's a drop-in replacement filter. It does just exactly that. All you'd have to do is pop open your stock air box, pull out the factory air filter, and drop in the drop-in replacement. Of course, it really is that simple. Just take a minute or two of your time in the driveway at home. Doesn't require any fancy tools and will get the one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. And just to wrap things up for this overview and install, if you're the owner of a 2015 or newer Mustang and you're looking to swap out your factory air filter for something a bit more effective, or if you've got some high mileage and just need that replacement, you might want to check out the K&N drop-in replacement air filter, which, of course, can be found right here at americanmuscle.com.

The air filter is much sturdier than the factory but I have to be honest I noticed a little to no gains in acceleration or sound. Truth of the matter is if you're getting this you're getting it to keep more contaminants from your engine block, if you want gains and horsepower spring for a cold air intake.Helpful (3)

Will this oiled filter harm mass air flow sensor
The K&N Drop-In Replacement Air Filter will not harm the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
What is a safe method of washing this air filter?
K&N offers a recharge kit which offers their cleaning solution and oil specifically designed for their filters. Their kit provides exact instructions for cleaning and oiling, however the basic instructions are listed below: STEP 1 - Apply air filter cleaner STEP 2 - Rinse your filter STEP 3 - Dry the air filter STEP 4 - Apply oil to filter
When first installing do you need to oil it up or it comes from the box oiled ?
The drop-in filter will be pre-oiled and can be installed right away.
Will someone explain to me, other than the obvious buying from a dealer, is Ford charging $500 and one can buy the exact product here for $50 ? Does the dealership tune it? Just curious and needed to ask someone who is smarter about this than me!
Yes, the $500 package is the K N filter, cal pro adapter, and a custom tune from FRPP. I believe thats just the package cost, they will charge you for installation as well, I'd imagine at least $100, if not $300, to do it. However, you will get a FRPP 3yr 36,000mile warranty (from date of manufacture, I believe) if Ford or an ASE certified technician does the install.
Can i Install with 300 miles on the car only?
It doesn't matter how many miles are on your car, this will work regardless.
The K&N Drop-In Replacement Air Filter will not change the sound of the engine no.
Thank you for your question about the K&N Drop-In Replacement Air Filter (15-17 All). Unfortunately, this air filter is not going to yield any measurable power gains.
Hi, this K&N Drop-In Replacement Air Filter is designed to be used with the stock air box only. When you install a cold air intake you replace the factory air box.
This filter is going to be of similar quality and performance as the Ford Performance filter.
At this time we do not offer the K&N filter charger kit.
The drop-in filter should not void the warranty on your vehicle.
No, the oil on the filter would not affect the air flow sensor on your Mustang.
There are specific cleaning kits which will come with filter oil. They will come in a spray bottle or a marker applicator.
This K&N Drop-In Replacement Air Filter is a direct performance replacement and will not cause any check engine light or service light illuminate on your Mustang. K&N has engineered this filter to provide maximum efficiency and decrease restriction within the intake system without causing the vehicle function improperly.
