Review & Install Video

Justin: What's up, guys? Justin with, Paul from the Bama performance team, we're down in North Carolina visiting our friends from Kooks Performance with their 2015 EcoBoost here. We were hanging out at their shop yesterday. They hooked us up with their 3 inch competition downpipe, full cat-back exhaust. I mean this thing sounds great. Laying down some really good numbers on the Dyno. Last time we showed you guys this car, it was making 283 horsepower, 342 pound-feet of torque. With the new parts installed, it's now making 308 and 379. That's a difference of 25 horsepower, 37 pound-feet of torque. We're here at the strip to test it out a little bit. Now, Paul, last time at the track, we went a best of 12.9. We're at an eighth mile track. It's all we can find down here. I mean can we still compare these numbers and see how the car's going to do? Paul: Yeah, we can see what the car's doing in the eighth mile, then really extrapolate the data from the back half of the track to get a rough idea of what's going on. Again, we're here to really test the parts. You do have that front mount intercooler on the car with the up pipe kit. A lot of it is going to be just collecting some data and going from there. It went into overboost mode. It's walking that fine line of how much boost do we want to make versus what our tolerance is within the computer to protect the motor. Male Voice: I'm going to try to manually shift it. It was shifting real short from first to second, so I'm going to manually shift this one and see what it does. Hopefully, if it'll hold boost, it'll haul ass. Justin: All right, Paul. The car made its first initial passes, did pretty well, then we let it cool down a little bit. You made some tweaks, and it went even faster. Paul: Yeah. Again, like I say all the time, I love going back and looking at the data. I made a couple of tune adjustments really focusing on the shift points, again also for the downpipe and picked up almost another tenth going 7.90s. The car ended up going 7.71 at 89 miles an hour. Obviously, we were able to use that E.T. and mile an hour, go to an online calculator, and punch it in. It turns out to about a 12.1 E.T. So, overall, extremely happy with the results. Justin: That is hauling you know what. I think even more impressive, guys, is the fact that this thing is cutting 1.50 sixty-foots basically stock suspension and a radial, right. Paul: Yeah, 1.59 60-foot on a 19 inch drag radial bone stock suspension out of a little turbo 4 banger. That's really impressive.e Justin: Yeah, absolutely. We can not thank our friends over at Kooks enough. I mean they hooked us up with a killer 3 inch competition downpipe, the cat-back system. The car picked up over 25 wheel horsepower and over 30 pound-feet of torque, no tune adjustments whatsoever. That's just pretty much the parts doing what they're designed to do. Again, big shout out to our friends over at Kooks. We had a great time. Thanks for the hospitality. We've enjoyed this nice, sunny North Carolina weather, but now it's time to head home. Guys, keep an eye out for more EcoBoost videos coming your way very soon. Something tells me we are not done modding this car. Increase Power and Performance. Add even more horsepower and torque to the rear wheels of your EcoBoost powered Mustang by installing a Kooks Performance Off-Road Down Pipe. A Kooks Off-Road Down Pipe eliminates those power robbing factory catalytic converters to release all the hidden power of your S550 Mustang has to offer.

More Aggressive Sound. Kooks Performance Down Pipe not only helps increase power and performance, but it also adds a much more aggressive exhaust note to your S550 EcoBoost Mustang, when compared to the factory down pipe.

Stainless Steel Construction. Constructed from 3" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent 304 Stainless Steel tubing for superior strength and corrosion resistance, this Kooks Performance Down Pipe will improve exhaust flow for more power.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that this Down Pipe has to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. This Kooks 3" Performance Off-Road Down Pipe is designed to fit 2015-2019 EcoBoost Mustangs. This Kooks 3" Down Pipe can be install with a matching Kooks 3" Cat-Back or the factory 2.25" exhaust with the use of an optional Down Pipe Adapter (see options listed above).

You get what you pay for

If you have the money and looking for a downpipe that does the job, which is better airflow and makes a nice deep sound, this is the downpipe for you. I wasn't expecting too much of a change but it definitely surprised me. I have the Ford by Borla sport catback and now I'm breaking necks, sounds great! Only negative requires a tune if you don't want the check engine light to turn on

It's very well made. Didn't come with instructions. It wasn't a direct fit with the step down so the shop had to cut a few inches off the exhaust pipe for it too fit. It's also extremely load if you have a muffler delete.
