More Horsepower and Torque. A set of Kooks Long Tube Headers will greatly improve the performance of your Mach 1 or SVT Cobra Mustang. Kooks Headers feature an integrated venturi style collector that increases exhaust scavenging, and reduces turbulence to improve your DOHC 4.6L's exhaust flow over the restrictive stock manifolds, boosting your Pony's horsepower and torque numbers.

Quality Construction. Kooks Long Tube Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1-3/4" X 3" mandrel bent 304 stainless steel tubing for superior airflow. These headers are TIG welded and feature a leak-free ball flange design for optimal performance and a better than OEM fit. Stainless steel hardware and gaskets are included.

Natural Finish. These Kooks Headers feature a natural stainless steel finish, which provides an aggressive appearance to your engine bay. This is not a heat-resistant coating, AmericanMuscle recommends the use of Exhaust Heat Wrap for high performance applications.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. These 1-3/4" Kooks Long Tube Headers are designed to fit the 1996-2004 Mach 1 and SVT Cobra Mustangs equipped with the DOHC 4.6L modular engine. Kooks Long Tube Headers require the use of a matching Kooks Shorty Mid-pipe in order to be installed properly (see drop down option above).

Technical notes. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only. Does not include a provision for EGR.

Great sound and HP increase

Had the kooks long tubes and 3in catted x- pipe professionaly installed and had car dyno tuned. Sound amazing. Gained 37 hp and 28 ft lb torque on my 04 mach 1

Can you remove the transmission once these are installed ? Or do you need to remove one header to remove the trans like a few other headers I've seen?

For my 99 Svt Cobra will I have to worry about scraping issues with these long tubes ?

  • The Kooks Long Tube Headers along with other long tube headers are positioned a little lower than the stock units, and if your vehicle is lowered, or there are many bumpy roads in your area, the headers will be more susceptible to hitting objects in the road.

what is the difference in the size Hi, Just wondering for the Kooks long tube headers there are two sizes on is 1-3/4 and the other one is 1-5/8 so what is the difference ? does one of it gives more hp ?

  • The size difference is going to represent the size of the collectors that bolt up to the exhaust manifolds. Bigger collectors will mean more air flow and more air flow will lead to more power. The only downside to the bigger collectors would be losing some power on the bottom end by eliminating a lot of back pressure. We usually recommend these bigger headers when going with a forced induction set up or nitrous to help make up for that loss. If planning on just installing headers for more sound and a more power on your naturally aspirated build I would recommend sticking with the 1-3/4 headers.

    Kooks Headers

    These headers are far superior to the stock headers. The sound from the the kooks headers are more aggressive than stock. Would definitely recommend you get some!!!!

    sound just right

    i had a local shop install these for me at a great price! received the car back with a completely different sound and definitely some more torque top end! just what i was looking for!
