    Review & Installation Video

Hey guys, this is Heather with, and this is one of the coolest ways to give your modern Mustang a retro look. This is the splice in LED sequential tail light kit for the 05-09 GT and V6. Sequential tail lights originated with the 1968 Shelby Mustang and now your modern Mustang can have that great old school look with this kit. This kit will replace your factory hazard and turn signal lights with high intensity LED bulbs that will sequence from the inside out and repeat until they are turned off. Your brake lights will also sequence when you first hit them and then remain fully lit. These sequential tail lights not only look awesome but the high intensity LED bulbs have the added safety benefit of being much brighter than your factory bulbs. They also illuminate much faster than your factory bulbs as well. This kit comes with everything you’ll need for installation, the sequential modules, the LED bulbs, the quick splice connectors, and the instructions. Installation on these should take about 30 minutes using standard tools, and requires a simple splice into your factory wiring harness. This sequential tail light kit is a great way to bring some of that classic muscle car style to your modern Mustang.

Retro Styling. Finish the cool retro styling of your S197 Mustang with a set of Axial LED Sequential Tail Lights. Sequential tail lights were originally used on the Shelby Mustangs from 1968 to 1970, and now you can have them for your very own modern pony.

Sequential. When activated the turn signals or hazard lights will sequence from the center light out and repeat until switched off. When the brakes are applied, the tail lights will sequence once and then stay lit during braking.

Added Safety. This Axial Sequential Kit replaces those weak factory bulbs with numerous high intensity LED's that illuminate quicker and brighter than standard incandescent bulbs to improve your driving safety.

Splice-in Installation. Simply splice into the stock wiring harness for cool retro Sequential Tail Lights.

Application. These Axial Sequential Lights were designed to fit all 2005 to 2009 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, and Shelby GT500 models.

Technical Note: These Sequential Tail Lights will not work with aftermarket LED replacement tail lights.

Less than an hour with some common sense.

Ok after seeing the reviews on here, I figured that I'd add my 2 cents. Lets start with the bad. It's a tad pricey for a splice in sequential. Yes it's LED, but when you can get the regular kit for considerably less it's hard to choose these. The only other complaint is that they sequence pretty fast, a little too fast for my taste, but hey that's it. Those are my only complaints. I chose these tail lights because I wanted the sequential lights and I wanted tint on them which I also got from AM. If I didn't get tint, I suggest the non-LED kit just based on price point. Install is really easy, the kit comes with instructions that make the wiring simple. The longest part of install was pulling back the old electrical tape (the factory installer got happy with the tape). The instructions note a trial and error method of determining what wire plug goes in which order after the sequence box is installed. I found on the specific kit that I had, that the correct order followed the order coming out of the box. What I mean by that is that the small black box that is added into the wiring in order to sequence the lights, has 2 sets of wires coming out from it. From one side there are 3 wires, a red, and 2 whites. The red plugs into a designated connection as noted in the instructions but the next two wires have no given order. What I found out is that they are in order of the sequence, the middle white wire goes to the middle lamp on each side. If you get them out of order, its just a matter of swapping the wires, but its nice to do it right the first time. As for the review about the wire splices not working right, I had no problem with them. The splices are small plastic pieces so it could have been a bad batch with that guy, but then again he could have clamped them too hard. The splices make a very quiet click when they are clamped together and they stay clamped without cutting any wires in half. The connections are very tight and if they don't fit one way, then flip it over. All you need for install is a pair of pliers, a 11mm wrench and some patience to make sure you do it right. I highly suggest this kit. It's made with quality and it all fits properly and works really well. It also just looks dang cool too.

The Looks Are Awesome But The Splice Joints Are Horrible

Do not believe the 30 min time frame they give you. I started at 5:00pm and I finished at 8:00pm. Everything went great at first. Then came the installation of the splice joints, this is where everything went downhill. The splice joints cut through my wires. I know what you are thinking he crimped them to tight, I did what the instructions said press until you hear the joint click well that click was my wire being cut in two, and this did not happen just once but three times. One of the splice joints was cut in two and I did not realize it was cut until I was testing the lights and they did not work, and in the process of trouble shooting I found it cut in two. So after a few choice words & a trip to the local auto parts store to buy butt joints and end electrical tape, I made the repairs to all of the broken wires. I managed to get them to work. They do look great but the fit was horrible. I would recommend them to people on the basis of looks but not on the fit. If this kit came with a new wiring harness to eliminate the splice joints this would have been great, I know this would raise the price up of this kit more but I would have paid the extra just not to go through this. If you get this kit make sure you have an electrical repair connectors handy you will need them.

Worth the effort to install, looks great!

I'm not the most savvy when it comes to electrical stuff, so I was skeptical when I saw that it should only take about an hour to install. Sure enough, it took me three hours, but that included time to remove and reinstall the Shaker 1000 subwoofer (in order to remove the right taillight) and to troubleshoot when the unit didn't work properly at first (turned out I just hadn't fully inserted the LED modules into the sockets). Needless to say, it was totally worth the time and effort, because they look fantastic!

      Nice product

I got these installed in less then an hour, the instructions were perfect. I did have to flip my plugs over as they were reversed (no big deal). I tested my remote both unlock and lock and the lights worked normally. I used some extra electrical tape just to cover any and all contacts they were exposed. Little pricey but it looks badass.

      Great product

Great quality and appearance, but installation was somehow difficult because electric contact between new lights and existing didn't fit properly: I have to fix it with a tinny screw driver in order they could make contact.

      Easy Install

I have always thought the old Mustangs and Cougars with seqeeential tail lights were cool when I was a kid. Now that I'm old enough to have kid of my own who drive I get to be cool with the same feature on my Mustang. My son and I installed the lights and black out lenses in 30-45 minutes. Very cool!

i knew from the get go that i wanted these. but the LED kit is a must. i get compliments almost daily. install is a breeze if you know anything about wiring. even if you don't the step by step instructions are very simple. taillight removal is more complicated than splicing in this harness, but instructions are included for the removal also. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE THAT HAS ANY MUSTANG!

      LED Sequential

I like most people hate letting go of the money. However I took the plunge and I'm very happy with the outcome. It took less than an hour and to be honest. I have had more difficulty melting butter than installing these. Now we will see if there durable. They do look good. I agree with most people on here that they could be a little slower. I tried not pushing the brake to fast as someone on here recomended. Didn't work. lol

      A nice touch and functional

The kit was really easy to install it was done in less than one hour and anyone can do it. The plastic clips for connecting the wires is super easy to snap making wiring simple. The look is fantastic and it makes the lighting in the Mustang more modern, brighter for safety and perfect for any rear tail lamp that has blackout. I had the sequential kit with the classic lamp style and grew tired of replacing the bulbs. With this LED kit that is all in the past and makes it well worth the upgrade!
