Your Camaro's factory-equipped 212º F thermostat is designed primarily for everyday street driving, designed to allow the engine to reach operating temperature relatively quickly. However, while appropriate for street driving, the factory thermostat is set to open relatively high for dedicated race use, only allowing coolant to flow through the engine block once it reaches 212º F. For this reason, Mishimoto developed its Camaro Performance Racing Thermostat as a direct-fit, race-oriented replacement. This thermostat opens at 160º F, allowing coolant to flow through the engine block much sooner, resulting in significantly lower engine temperatures. 

Direct-Fit. This thermostat is designed as a direct-fit product, replicating the factory thermostat's form factor and mounting profile for a straightforward, modification-free installation into the factory thermostat housing. 

Recommended Only For Race-Specific Applications. Considering the low activation temperature of this thermostat, it's recommended only for use on dedicated race applications where quick and efficient warm-ups are not necessary. If used in colder climates, the engine may not reach proper operating temperature during normal driving conditions, resulting in poor fuel efficiency and reduced performance.
