Description
A Prop Rod, Really? It is really hard to believe that Ford is still equipping their all new S550 Mustangs with an old style prop rod. But now you can add the modern convenience and clean good looks of hood struts to your late model Pony with a set of Modern Muscle Design Hood Struts available from AmericanMuscle.
Style And Strength. Designed to get rid of that ugly prop rod, this set of two powerful yet sleek MMD gas struts not only makes opening your Pony's hood much easier, but they also hold it securely in place. Made from lightweight steel and aluminum, they feature a chrome and nickel plated finish to give your engine bay a much cleaner appearance.
No Drilling Required. The stamped steel brackets included in this MMD kit are designed to bolt into the existing mounting holes in the hood so there is no drilling required for installation. Struts can be installed on factory hoods as well as aftermarket hoods that use the factory bolt location. If your aftermarket hood is lighter than the factory hood, use caution when opening the hood due to the power of the strut.
Application. This Modern Muscle Design Hood Strut Kit is specifically designed for use on the 2015 to 2017 Ford Mustangs, including the V6, EcoBoost, and GT models. Does not fit Shelby GT350's.
Technical Note. The MMD Bolt on Hood Strut Kit does not fit European Spec Mustangs.

MMD offers our valued customers the following Limited Warranty on all MMD product purchased after September 1st, 2026.
What is Covered
Subject to the terms, exclusions and limitations herein, and with respect only to products first sold in the United States, MMD warrants that its products shall be free of manufacturing defects for the lifetime of the product and finish defects, including rust & corrosion, for three (3) years from the date of initial retail purchase when the MMD product is installed and used on purchaser's vehicle according to supplied product installation instructions and/or warnings. This Limited Warranty is made only with respect to the initial purchaser and is not transferrable. MMD reserves the right to require proof of purchase as a condition of this Limited Warranty and to make future revisions to this product or its Limited Warranty without obligation to provide notice of same to purchaser or to conform existing product to future revisions. Any change to this warranty made after purchase may be applied retroactively at the sole discretion of MMD.
What is Not Covered
Your MMD Limited Warranty does not cover damage or claims to any component, vehicle, or person other than the MMD product purchased. Your Limited Warranty is expressly limited to replacement of the item itself shall MMD determine item was not free of defect. As such, this Limited Warranty does not cover damage or claims to any component, vehicle, or person MMD determines to have been damaged by or subjected to:
- Installation damage, collision damage, alteration, modification, misuse or failure to maintain.
- Damage in any part attributable to:
- vehicle systems or components or
- combination with non-MMD products.
- Normal wear and tear/product deterioration.
- Theft, vandalism or other negligent or intentional damage.
Remedy Limited to Repair/Replacement:
The exclusive remedy provided for products covered under this Limited Warranty shall be, upon MMD's inspection and at MMD's option, either repair or replacement of product or parts (new or refurbished). Any parts repaired or replaced will be considered part of the original product and will not extend the term of Limited Warranty. Customers requesting warranty consideration should first contact the independent distributor selling your product to obtain a Returned Goods Authorization number. All removal, shipping, and installation costs are customer's responsibility. If a replacement part is needed before your part can be returned, you must first purchase the replacement part. Then, if MMD determines the part warrantable, you will be credited the purchase price of that part.
This warranty is the only warranty made in connection with the purchase of this product. MMD neither assumes nor authorizes any manufacturer, vendor, retailer, other person or entity to assume for it any other obligation or liability in connection with its products or this Limited Warranty.
Other Limitations - Exclusion of Damages - Your Rights Under State Law:
- In consideration of the purchase price paid, neither MMD nor any independent distributor are responsible for any loss of use or time, rental costs, or for any incidental, consequential, punitive or other damages (whether arising in tort or contract) you may have or incur in connection with your vehicle, or your MMD product. Your exclusive remedy hereunder is repair/replacement of the item itself or refund as described above at MMD's option. All implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are hereby disclaimed or limited to the extent allowed under your jurisdiction.
