- How to Install SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers - Pre-Painted (10-14 Coupe) on your Ford Mustang
Select Year2014 2013 2012 2011 2010
Justin: If you're a big fan of that retro styling and would prefer the convenience of a perfectly matched pre-painted part right out of the box, well then you should definitely consider adding a set of the SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers for your 2010 through 2014 Coupe. Now, these louvers will be made from durable ABS plastic and are designed to fit those quarter windows perfectly for right around that $150 price point. Now, your installation is gonna be more of a peel and stick job here using the 3M automotive-grade Dual Lock strip. So with all that said, figure soft one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here and maybe 30 minutes of your time to complete from start to finish, as we'll show you later in the video. So, if you've been shopping for quarter window louvers for that S197 at home, then chances are you have stumbled across a few different options here on the site, including the ones we're talking about today in addition to SpeedForm's slightly more modern option. You're also gonna stumble across the Eleanor style and then finally, the quarter window options from MMD which are a little bit bigger, they totally cover that quarter window, whereas these guys kind of fit perfectly into that opening. Now, in my opinion, these are gonna be one of the most true to the original designs for the S197. And due to that design can be removed if and when you did need to clean that quarter window glass. Let's talk a little bit more about that pre-painted finished because it's certainly gonna be one of the big draws with this or any other pre-painted product here on the site. Now, if you didn't know the paint team at AM does spray the same base and clear coat that Ford uses on their Mustangs which in turn just leads to a very consistent color match for your S197 again right out of the box. Now, not only is the color on point, but gonna take all the hassle of having to take these things to a local paint shop and maybe having mixed results on your own. Now, we do offer just about every single factory color available for the 2010 through 2014 year range, but as always, never a bad idea to double-check before pulling the trigger for these guys on your ride. Now, that paint is sprayed on to the SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers which again do feature a very durable and lightweight ABS plastic for the overall build or construction. Now, the louvers themselves do include all of your necessary prep pads, your adhesion promoter, which is very important here. And then finally, your 3M automotive-grade Dual Lock tape and that's gonna hold these guys in place. Now, technically, yes, this is a variation of Velcro, but it's one of the strongest options that you will find out there. And it's more than up to the task of being able to keep these guys in place even at top speeds. And if you don't believe me, well, feel free to read up on the hundreds of five-star reviews here on these particular louvers. And as always, also worth checking out some of the customer submitted images, so that way you get a better idea of how these things might look on your own ride at home. Now, one small thing the site is gonna recommend picking up along with the louvers themselves is this quarter window blackout decals. And basically, this is just gonna hide the backside of the louvers once they're installed from the inside of the car looking out. That's not totally necessary, of course, but if you're looking to keep things a little bit cleaner from an appearance standpoint, certainly not gonna be a bad idea and at the end of the day, most if not all of your visibility is gonna be blocked with these guys in place anyway. So, there's really nothing you're going to be losing in that regard. But now let's get into that installation as promised earlier and again, peel and stick job for the most part. So, figure soft one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here and maybe a few minutes of your time from start to finish. I will say the most important part of the job is going to be the prep. So, just make sure that surface is nice and clean first before getting to work with adhesion promoter and all that good stuff. But regardless, here's a detailed walkthrough of the job to show you how it's going to go down. Man: The tools used for this install were microfiber towel, glass cleaner, alcohol prep pad, and a razor knife. So, the first step for this install is gonna be to make sure that your glass surface is nice and clean so that all of your 3M adhesive will stick properly. Next, using the supplied alcohol wipes and adhesion promoter, we're gonna prep the back of the surface to take the 3M. Now, as the surface has been cleaned and prepped, you can peel the backing off of one side of the 3M and stick it to the back of the louver. Once again, I'm gonna use the provided alcohol pad and adhesion promoter pad to wipe down the surface that's gonna be mating up with the window louver and get it ready for install. And now I'm gonna half peel back the 3M backing so that I can put my louver and peel the rest once it's on the car. Now I can install my window louver onto the glass. Once it's aligned correctly, I can apply a little bit of pressure and set my 3M. And that's gonna wrap up this review and install for the SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers for your '10 to '14 Mustang. Thanks for watching, for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.

Quality Mod; Well Made!
I was impressed with the quality of the molded louvers; no rough edges, fits the side qtr. window contour exactly, and nice thickness to the molding. Covers just the glass, not oversize like some others. Rear inside qtr. view is still there from driver's seat.Helpful (0)

Great styling for the money
I’ve had these louvers for roughly one year and I can say I would recommend them to anyone. The 3m adhesive has not budged one bit, and the paint is still pristine and matches perfectly. Definitely a nice little mod for the money.Helpful (4)

I assume these aren't meant to be removed, so is there any way to clean the quarter window glass with these on? I'm worried about stuff getting inside the louvers and building up over time. Also, if I ever needed to remove these, could I do so without damage/leaving marks?
Actually, they are made to come off so you can clean the quarter window under them. At least, mine were. The install strips were a type of Velcro and the guy at the dealership just forced them off, cleaned the window, and put them back on. I was afraid I would screw something off so I paid the body shop 20.00 to pull them off, clean the windows, and put them back on. Usually about once every month or so and I had the car for 19 months when I traded it in on a 2016 and they still were holding fine. I had the body shop at the dealership install them so they were familiar with how they worked. You might check with your dealer and see if someone there know how yours work. Hope this helps
Can you see out of the window with type of louver on the window? I want to purchase them because they are cool looking and make my Mustang look even better, but if it is going to hinder my vision I will pass and purchase other stuff for my Pony.
Yes you can still see out of the window. Inside the car they are angled to give you some visibility. I was concerned too, that is why I didn't get the blackouts. You will also start using your side mirrors more, which is a good thing.
Does this order come with 2 Louvers? Or just 1?
Each order includes two louvers, one for each side.
This might be a dumb question but what color does the louvers come in if its unpainted
There is no such thing as a dumb question! These unpainted louvers will come completely un-finished with the raw ABS plastic material. The material in a dark charcoal black color which you can see from our other product photos.
The video mentioned taking these off periodically to clean the rear quarter windows. Can these be put through a car wash?
I just traded my 2014 GT for a 2016 GT but I have mine on the 2014 stang for a year and half and it went thru many car washed and never came off. They fasten on with a Velcro type of thing and you can pull them off and clean the rear quarter window and put them back on. I always had the dealer to do it when I got an oil change but I watched them do it and it didn't look very difficult. A little pull pressure to get them off and make sure they were straight going back on and all was good.
They are sold in pairs, (1) set includes both the passenger and driver side.
We highly recommend having a shop prep and paint the louvers.
We do offer these louvers in both RZ and U6. These two are intended to be very similar, but have very slight changes in the formula. As always, with pre-painted parts, there is always going to be a chance of slight color difference due to painting conditions.
No, as long as these louvers are installed correctly they will not cause an issue going through a car wash.
The 3M Double Sided Adhesive tape provided with the MMD Louvers is no thicker than 1/8 inch. This tape can be purchased from any local auto parts store if additional material is needed.
We have not had any issues with the SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers coming off at high speed. The 3M velcro included was chosen for its high hold/shear strength.
We would carry the SpeedForm ABS Quarter Window Louvers (https://www.americanmuscle.com/abs-quarter-window-louver-unpainted-1517all.html) and the Defenderworx Quarter Window Louvers (https://www.americanmuscle.com/defenderworx-quarter-window-louvers-15117.html) which will be close to that style you mentioned.
Unfortunately, these specific SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers are designed only for 10-14 model Mustangs. Fortunately, we do offer the same SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers for 05-09 model Mustangs! They are item number 71315 and you can find them here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/mmd-classic-louvers-0509-painted.html
Unfortunately there is no mustang that comes stock with these louvers. The SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers are an aftermarket louver.
Unfortunately the SpeedForm Classic Quarter Window Louvers are unable to fit the 15-17 Model Mustangs.
