Review & Install Video

Hey, everybody. Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. Here with the legend, Chip Foose, talking about the MMD by Foose Rear Spoiler available for your 2015 and up Mustang, available either unpainted or pre-painted. Now, Chip, you designed this spoiler. What was the thought process behind it? Well, when I did mine, as I say, I like to look at the design language that the factory uses to produce the real car. I never want my parts to look like an aftermarket or an afterthought. I like them to look like this should have come from the factory this way. So, using that negative curve that's off the deck lid, I just followed that same curve to create the top of it. When you look at this cutout that's here, it's just basically taking the shape that's around the license plate and just flipping it over, mirroring that image. Then the side being the same shape as the quarter, and just rolling around, following that plan view. But like I say, I don't want it to look like something that was an afterthought. This should be something that would have come on the Mustang. Absolutely, and it resembles that. It's definitely not wild or over-the-top. It has very factory-like appearance, and it's sharp. Guys, it is made out of blue molded injection plastic here. Again, you can grab it unpainted or pre-painted from the AM paint shop, again, getting a perfect color match right out of the box, like we have here on our silver car. As for the install, guys, really not that bad. Using your factory bolt holes, you can expect about an hour, maybe two tops, using the 3M tape and the included hardware. Chip, great part, sir. Thanks for offering it here, from MMD by Foose, of course. Be sure to check out this rear spoiler and many other MMD by Foose products for your 2015 and up Mustang at AmericanMuscle.com.

Custom FOOSE Styling. Designed by the talented and world renowned custom car builder Chip Foose, this MMD by Foose Mustang spoiler follows the circumference of the rear deck lid for a clean simple form and features a notched out center section that ties in nicely to the sculpted lines of the rear bumper cover for a true custom Foose touch.

High Quality Construction. Manufactured using the original OEM CAD data from Ford to ensure a precise fit, this MMD by Foose Mustang Rear Decklid Spoiler is made from molded acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) material for it's light-weight, superior durability and impact resistance - making it perfect for the daily driver.

Reuses Factory Holes. The MMD by Foose rear spoiler was specifically designed to reuse the existing holes left in the deck lid by the stock wing (if so equipped) on the Fastback model. The spoiler installs easily with a combination of hardware and 3M automotive bonding tape, a drilling template is included for the Mustangs not equipped with a factory installed wing. Convertible models equipped with a stock wing will not be able to reuse the factory holes, drilling will still be required for installation.

Application. This Unpainted Modern Muscle Design by Foose Rear Decklid Spoiler is designed to fit all 2015-2017 Mustangs including the V6, EcoBoost GT and GT350.

Application Note. The Rear Spoiler may come in contact with the factory antenna when the trunk is opened on Convertible models.

Technical Notes. This MMD by Foose Rear Spoiler ships unpainted. AmericanMuscle recommends professional installation of all body parts. We also recommend test fitting these products before they are painted.

I'm trying to decide if I should buy this product painted or unpainted. My car is a 2015 and it's painted a dark color (magnetic). Not sure if there's been any significant fading. Do you know how closely your paint job will match the color on an older car? Do you compensate for the model year when you paint it?

Matt

  • Our pre-painted parts are painted with to match the color pigment of the Ford factory colors when it comes off the assembly line. We do not paint to match an older car because of variables such as whether or not the car has been in storage when not used, sun fading, and normal wear of the clear and paint.

  • Hello! I'm not to sure if/when we will offer that color. One option would be to buy the unpainted version and have a shop paint it for you!

Review from MMD by FOOSE Rear Spoiler - Pre-painted (15-17 All)

Great spoiler, but Ruby Red is just a bit off.

Love the design of this spoiler. Its more aggressive than the boring stock one ford put on, but it's subtle enough to still look factory and not over the top. Installation took about 2 hours with most of the work going to removing the old spoiler and tape from the decklid. Using the factory holes was nice but lining up the new spoiler with that sticky tape was very tricky. I ended up screwing some long skinny screws in the holes of the new spoiler just a little way in and used them as guide through the decklid holes to line it up. Once the tape was attached I unscrewed the Pilot screws from the bottom off the decklid and used the real screws to attach the spoiler. It perfectly lined up using this method. My only grip about this spoiler is the color match. Most owners know Ruby Red is a difficult color to match. With that being said AMs version of Ruby Red is very close but just a bit off. Up close and in direct sunlight you can tell it's not an exact match. It's just a little brownish/orange compared to the rest of the car. However from a short distance away it's not noticeable. If you are OCD and expect an exact colol match be warned. For this reason I can't give 5 stars.

Review from MMD by FOOSE Rear Spoiler - Pre-painted (15-17 All)

    MMD Foose Rear Spoiler

My wife had a bad car wash experience and the stock spoiler got severely damaged ( basically ripped in half) in an automated car wash. I bought this to replace the broken one. One of the things that sold me was the stated use of factory mounting holes. It is stated in several places throughout Am Muscle's description, that factory holes can be used and although it doesn't say directly that no drilling would be required, it is certainly implied. (video for one and the questions and answers for another) Simply not true. Center holes can be used however the outside holes will need to be elongated to line up with the mounts on the new part. It does state that drilling for the convertibles would be necessary but leads one to believe that for the coupe it is a bolt on part. Not sure why they couldn't have moved the mounts on the spoiler 1/8 of an inch during design and manufacturing unless the discovery was an "oops" moment-because they are very close and just barley miss the mark. That all said, even with drilling my brand new deck lid the install wasn't all that difficult. Aggravated that I had to drill but not a tough fix. As I did this by myself the hardest part was lining up the spoiler to get the short mounting screws started with the double sided tape pulled back far enough to reach it after spoiler was attached to deck lid and doing so without any of the exposed "sticky" touching. A second set of hands probably would have helped considerably. The whole job including removal of the old broken spoiler took about 3hrs. But 1/2 hour was wasted trying to figure out why the original factory holes simply wouldn't line up. I only gave the Fit and Finish 1 star because, although not difficult, the install was not as direct fit as it was described. The spoiler looks great. Finish is perfect and the wife loves it so all is good. However I would recommend to Am Muscle to reshoot their video and revise their claims that this part is a direct bolt on part for coupes with no modification to the deck lid required.

Installed in about an hour. Great looking spoiler and fairly easy install. Hardest part (though not hard) was getting the old stock spoiler off. User wide painters tape around the edges of the old spoiler to protect the paint and then use a plastic pry tool to gently separate the spoiler from the car. I also used fishing line to cut the tape at first, but once I got started the pry tool did the job quite easily.

    MMD By Foose Rear Spoiler

I had a factory spoiler on my Mustang and replaced it with the MMD spoiler by FOOSE. No drilling was needed, the new spoiler utilized the existing holes, the new spoiler changed the appearance of the car immensely. The spoiler looks like it was installed at the factory. Excellent product. Thank you American Muscle and FOOSE.

install alignment tip for foose spoiler

installed the pre-painted foose spoiler on my 2015 ecoboost mustang to replaced the weird looking original ford one. Not wanting to get any part of the mounting tape stuck prior to aligning the holes during mounting the new one, I made 2 temporary studs from 6M bolts and screwed them in the outside holes on the spoiler, lowered into position, then pulled the strips off the tape. I then replaced the temporary studs with the screws. Was easy!

Review from MMD by FOOSE Rear Spoiler - Pre-painted (15-17 All)

    Aggressive but no over-the-top

This spoiler suits the car perfectly! All of the lines flow well and complement those of the car. It looks aggressive but it isn't in your face or excessively big. While driving, you can barely see it in the rearview and side mirrors and it doesn't reduce the rear visibility. Install was pretty easy but be sure you have a 7/32 drill bit. I had to run to the store in the middle of the install to pick one up. The hardest part was aligning the bolts to the holes without the adhesive sticking. I recommend starting with the middle two bolts then remove the backing on the adhesive just enough so that it sticks out from under the spoiler. Once you have the middle two bolts started, pull the backing off the adhesive before tightening the bolts all the way.

    MMD REAR SPOILER

Received the rear spoiler in the usual timely manor I've grown custom to from American Muscle. Can't say enough about this spoiler. Paint was spot on and install was a piece of cake. The most time consuming part is removing the old tape from the deck lid. After you get that off everything just falls into place. I didn't want to be too obnoxious so this was a perfect fit for me. Actually this should have been original equipment from Ford. Thanks for a great product and excellent service...

MMD Foose Spoiler - It Belongs on the Mustang

As said by Chip Foose himself, "It looks like something that should have come on the car." When I first saw this spoiler I knew I had to have it. It looked fantastic and when I finally saw it on my car I knew it was the right choice. The lines match up perfectly with the car from all angles. It's subtle, yet bold. The Race Red paint match from American Muscle was spot-on. Installation on my GT PP was pretty straightforward with some basic tools, as I did not have to remove a factory spoiler prior to installation. If you're looking for a spoiler that has somewhat of an OEM look, order this one today. It will not disappoint!

Really glad I went with this spoiler. The fit is perfect. The install is not too hard, just take your time and everything will come out fine. Color looks perfect, I have factory BLACK heat extractors, and the spoiler is the exact same color. This spoiler is the perfect size, larger than the almost invisible factory spoiler but not TOO large. What can you say about Chip Foose's designs, they're just great.

    Foose pre painted rear spoiler

Ordered the spoiler to be put on before the Foose graphics kit I got to go with it. Had a local shop install since they said they would put it on for free when doing the other work. The spoiler took them probably 1/2 hr. to 45 min. (already had a factory spoiler, which they took off carefully to save it for me) On the car, it looks awesome, just like in the video. Seems very sturdy, fits great and the paint was also a perfect match for my Ingot Silver GT. I like the look, the lines and from looking at other spoilers, the price seems very reasonable for a pre painted part. Just like Chip Foose said in the video, he likes his parts to look like they should have come from the factory with them and this product sure nails that thought.
