Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MMD’s unpainted, and pre painted hood scoop available for all 2013 and newer Mustangs. If you’re not familiar with MMD, here’s what you need to know: they continue to produce a wide variety of totally unique exterior and interior appearance parts for your Mustang that do offer both functionality and style. If you’re not already watching this video on our site and you want to learn more about what MMD can do for your ride, just click on the link below. Alright, so when this hood scoop was initially release, I have to admit I was a little apprehensive of how it would look with the factory hood vents on all 13 and 14 hoods. Well, after we installed it on project coyote back there, I will admit I became a fan. Speaking of Project coyote, if you guys want to stay up to date with all of our latest project car videos along with some product overviews on all of your favorite parts, you have to subscribe to our YouTube channel, just click on the link below or on the AM logo up in the corner at any point during this video. The crew at MMD actually designed this scoop to work in harmony with those factory hood vents, complimenting them without being too much or being over the top. The scoop sits perfectly between those hood vents, and actually as you can see the forward angle on the scoop here matches the angle of the factory hood, giving the whole front end a much more aggressive look. In addition, the honeycomb insert matches the factory grille perfectly, making the entire package blend seamlessly with the front of the car. Another reason this scoop blends seamlessly with the rest of the car is factory quality paint job from our in house state of the art paint booth. Our paint crew sprays all of our AmericanMuscle pre painted parts, with the same base and clear coat that Ford uses in their factories, of course making for an excellent paint match, but more importantly saves you the trouble of having to get these parts painted yourself. Of course if you do have a paint hookup or you’d rather spray these parts yourself, you can always purchase the unpainted version here for a few bucks less. Both the unpainted and pre painted version include the drilling template, along with everything you see here to get the scoop installed. You will need to drill a few holes into your hood to get the scoop installed properly, but if you take your time, follow the detailed instructions and use the included template, you should have no problem banging this one out in about an hour from start to finish. Of course if you did want to bounce a couple of questions off our Mustang experts first, you can shoot them an email at [email protected], and feel free to give them a call at 855-422-7439. So if you’d like to take the already aggressive front end of the 13 and 14 Mustangs to the next level, then you have to check out MMD’s unpainted or pre painted hood scoop, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Nice addition, but not perfect.
I don't regret the install, but I'm a little disappointed with the fit. I took it to the Ford body shop (they do excellent work at my dealership). The scoop doesn't laydown flat on the right front and has a noticeable gap between hood/scoop. Shop manager showed it to me and there was no way to correct it. The scoop is slightly malformed (I suspect they all are). I would consider and replacement, but since this is installed very securely, I doubt I could return it as it would be damaged by the time I could get it off. Also, what guarantee would I have that a replacement wouldn't suffer from the same issue or even worse. I like the design, the color match and paint finish, but the part itself, is lacking a little.Helpful (14)

Guide measurements not right
I bought this hood scoop and followed the instructions point for point. Also, hired professional staff to install it. Apparently, the guide was not exactly accurate and the nuts and bolts were all the same. We had to drill another hole on the hood because the guide was wrong. We also had to find longer nuts as the one provided were too short. So, if you plan to purchase this particular item, don't follow the pattern provided as you will have to drill another hole.Helpful (3)

The hood scoop sure made my V6 stang appear more aggressive. I had a body shop install it. After the installation, I began to notice that some areas of the scoop were not seating flush upon the hood of the car. I only notice it if I am standing in front and staring real hard at it. But over all, it makes my pony look good.Helpful (4)

Don't trust the template.
The scoop looks nice, especially with the black mesh intake piece. The template was off by as much as 3/8". I personally assembled the scoop, taped the paper template to the hood and then made measurements from three edges of the hood. Once I was certain my marks were good I drilled only a 1/64th larger hole than the studs coming off the scoop. This was done to make certain there was zero wiggle-room when dropping it down with the adhesive exposed. The VHB tape is not forgiving of mistakes. I used the 4298 Adhesion Promoter on the painted surface, as well. Painter's Tape was used to mask off the car paint that would be seen once the scoop was installed and prevent the promoter from drying visible. Lastly, the nuts got some blue Loc-Tite and were only fastened tight enough to make contact with the underside of the hood - the aluminum hood will distort badly if you snug those fasteners down. The tape should do the work of adhering the scoop to the hood if applied properly. Worked like a champ - I dropped it down in the holes and applied pressure! I am not thrilled with the daylight seeping in around the front edges of the piece. The contour is not perfect in this area. Fabricating this part with six hold-down bolts instead of four would have made a big difference. For the price, it looks good.Helpful (3)

I love the scoop, it look's amazing. The only thing I wish they would change is the template for drilling the holes. Using the hood vents as a reference point would be much easier than a line on a piece of paper that follows the contour of the hood near the windshield. Just a suggestion...thanks for the great product, I will be back!Helpful (3)

Makes a difference in looks
I purchased the hood scoop, side scoops and head light covers, what a difference it makes in the looks of the mustang, I was a little apprehensive about drilling four holes in my hood and checked the measurements 20 times before I started drilling, with patience this is a easy projectHelpful (6)

Nice item, but brittle.
Had to buy a replacement scoop! The first one cracked in half going down the highway @ 80MPH and slammed into my windshield, although the outer part that was taped and bolted stayed on the hood. I bought a replacement because the holes were already drilled in my hood to fit this scoop. Yes I took pictures.Helpful (6)

I’ve had more compliments in a week of installing this hoodscoop than I ever got without. Fairly easy install. I was a little nervous drilling holes in my hood but it comes with a template that makes it quite simpleHelpful (3)
Hello. I want to adapt the scoop to a land cruiser Serie 8. Does someone can give me the width and height of the scoop. Thanks in advance for the help. Bruno from France ;)
This will be roughly 29.25" x 25.5" x 4.5" in size.
Is the Honeycomb scoop insert one solid piece that will not allow air flow and dirt (ex. bugs) to enter into and lodge between the scoop and the hood ?
It is not completely solid, the honey comb is open, allowing for airflow to flow through it.
I am really wondering, isn`t the scoop going to fly away if I`m going at more than 110 mph on the highway?
The scoop is secured with stainless steel nuts and bolts as well as 3m tape. It does allow airflow through it so with a proper install it will not fly away.
Is it possible to make this hood scoop functional by cutting a large hole into the hood before installing..because i noticed this mod comes with an open element honeycomb insert. Or is it purely an appearence mod only
Hi I bought this hood scoop for my 2014 Mustang V6 the problem that I have is when I drive faster than 80 miles an hour the hood start to shake what can be the solution because I imagine the air gets stuck inside should I make some holes to get it out what is the solution Thank you
Any and all of our exterior modification products such as these have been tested for highway speeds only. Any faster could cause issues down the line, I would suggest either uninstalling, finding a modification that would allow to drive faster than the speed limit, or drive no faster than the speed limit.
You will drill six holes. Four holes will be drilled with the 1/4" bit, and you'll widen two holes with the 1/2" bit.
Unfortunately this scoop will not fit the GT500 models. Only the 13-14 GT/V6 models.
These MMD Hood Scoops will only fit 13 Boss 302's and 13-14 GT, V6 models.
Unfortunately, this MMD Hood Scoop is specifically made for 13-14 GT and V6 model Mustangs and would not fit a 2012.
We do not suggest attaching the MMD Hood Scoop with just the 3M tape.
The template uses the back edge of the hood as a reference point to measure and mark the drill holes. For a visual example of this please refer to steps 2-3b in our install guide below: https://lib.americanmuscle.com/files/71331-manu.pdf
Hey there! Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the hood scoop. Please feel free to give us a call or email us and we will be happy to help you out! www.americanmuscle.com/contact.html
Unfortunately, this will not fit on a 2010 Mustang hood as the shape of the hood is different and will cause this scoop to not sit flush on the hood.
There is not a piece that would block debris from entering into the scoop, so if the scoop is not maintained, it can begin to accumulate.
