    Review & Install Video

Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with, here with some radical styling for your S197, courtesy of industry leader MMD. I'm going to be taking a closer look at the MMD Fender Vents, available for your 2010 through 2014 Mustang in your choice of either Unpainted, Pre-Painted, or Matte Black.MMD's goal is to help you separate your ride from the rest, and never has that been more true with parts like these fender vents. Now, these parts are definitely not going to be for the "less is more" crowd. Instead, it's going to be for someone who is not satisfied with the stock appearance and for the Mustang owner who is really looking to stand out on the street or at their next show.So styling-wise, what are we looking at? Well, as you can see, these vents do get installed behind the front wheel and in front of the door here, giving your S197 that race-inspired look. Now, besides those aggressive looks, the crew over at MMD actually claims a little bit of functionality with this part, acting as a heat extractor, allowing any hot engine bay air to escape through the vents here.Construction-wise, here's what you're going to be looking at, guys. Durable, automotive grade ABS plastic for the build, more than capable of handling the stresses on your track toy, show car, or even your daily driver. Now, as I mentioned at the top of this video, you do have a few options in regards to finish, starting with our pre-painted version here. Now, this version does get sprayed right here in AM in our state-of-the-art paint booth, using the same base and clear coat that Ford uses on their Mustangs. In addition to that, we are offering a matte black version, which is a good way to mix up the look a little bit, if that's what you're after. Finally, if you're looking to save a few bucks, we do offer an unpainted version, if you have a paint hookup or if you're looking to spray this thing yourself. As for the install here, well, as you might expect, guys, there is a fair amount of cutting going on with this job. So for that reason alone, I'm going to give it a three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Now, you could probably do the job with the fenders still on the car. But personally I would recommend removing the fenders, first, it's really not all that hard, and ultimately it's going to give you the best result. Now, if this is something you're not comfortable with doing, definitely don't hesitate to reach out to your local body shop on this one. Or if you will tackle this one on your own, just figure about six hours or a half a day in the garage to get everything knocked out.So if you're looking for that aggressive race car styling for your S197 with a little added functionality to boot, then be sure to check out the full lineup of MMD Fender Vents right here at

Intimidating Race Car Styling. Add intimidating race inspired styling to your S197 Mustang with a set Modern Muscle Design Heat Extractor Fender Vents. Painted Here to Match 2010-2014 Factory Mustang Colors. These MMD Fender Vents are painted right here, at AmericanMuscle HQ, with the same base coat clear coat urethane paint Ford used on the exterior of your Mustang to match your stock color perfectly.

Cutting Required. Cutting the stock fenders will be required for installation of these MMD Heat Extractor Fender Vent Louvers, AmericanMuscle recommends professional installation of all body parts.

Application. This pair of Pre-Painted Modern Muscle Design Heat Extractor Fender Vents are designed for use on all 2010 to 2014 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, BOSS and Shelby GT500 models.

    Find Your Paint Code

    • Choose the year of your Mustang from the options above. The color choices displayed will be the only exterior paint colors available for your year Mustang. The first two letters for each color option are the paint code for your exterior color.

    • If you need to verify your paint code, look inside the door jam of your driver's side door at your VIN plate to find your exterior paint code.

    • These Heat Extractor Fender Vents are also available Unpainted for those who like to do-it-yourself

Would i be able to re-attach the badges on the side of my Mustang after i install the MMD Fender Vents? Or do the vents simply not allow it?

        • The MMD Fender Vents - Pre-painted (10-14 All) will cover the place where you would be able to attach side badges so you unfortunately will not be able to use them in conjunction with this item.

Do I have to cut holes in the fender for these or can I just attach them as appearance mods? I also plan on adding the MMD side scoops.

        • Yes, per the description given here, they recommend that a professional paint/body person does the install, because it does require cutting.

Definitely makes your car look more aggressive!

The vents came in perfect condition, as anticipated. I had a hood being painted at the time, and asked the body shop to tackle this install. They did an awesome job, and the results look great!

            2014 Fender Vents

The pamphlet you receive for installation is lacking a bit in detail but gives you enough info to make it through the process. I am fairly confident with tools and did not see the need to remove the fenders as the instructions listed. There is nothing behind the fenders you could destroy should you decide to do the install yourself. There is no template given so I turned the vent on its back and traced it onto some cardboard paper, not as flimsy as regular paper. Then taped the car as the instructions mentioned and then used my template to place it right against the fender/door split and 1 and a half inches from the top lip/crease of the fender and the same distance from the bottom lip/crease of the fender. Trace that onto your taped fender and then trace another line 1/2 inch in from the entire template line. The directions say to do 2/5 inch from template line but that cuts it pretty close to the edge of the fender if you don't cut your template line straight. Doing it a 1/2 in makes the install a bit tighter but you can always trim more, but if you make a mistake doing it 2/5 of an inch, you can never add back what you cut. After the cut, basically follow the directions with the tape and alcohol prep. The whole process took me about 2.5 hours and believe me, the biggest part of this is deciding to actually cut into your baby. Just double check everything before you start, its not really that hard.

            Nice addition!!!

Was really dragging my feet about cutting into my fender but once I started there was no turning back. The install was not that bad with the instruction provided and the finished look was outstanding.

            Looks Great and Functional Too

These fender vents really look good. I had them professionally installed as I couldn't stand to cut into my baby. They did a fantastic job and it took about 2 hours. Does help keep the engine cooler. Along with hood vents big difference.

            Great look

The only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating. It did not come with a template. Using the outer edge of the vent worked fine but, a template would have made it much easier.

Awesome body mod that always turns heads.

I installed these alone in just over 3 hours with frequent breaks just to keep my nerves calm as I prepared to cut holes in my ride. Overall they look great and seem to be holding well.

            not just stuck on!

i know you are afraid of the idea of cutting a giant hole in the side of your baby, (my beloved 2012 only had 2800 miles on it!) but all these peel and stick scoops will always look just stuck on, now here is vent/scoop that not only looks cool, but is REAL. American Muscle and MMD did not disappoint me, the paint matched perfect, and the install only took me under 4 hours including the metal mesh i added inside the vent openings, and washing inside the fender areas.. (see posted pics) this single mod really transformed my daily driver into a more expensive looking Steeda or Foose edition type of vehicle, even with my car's factory wheels and stance. i wish there were more body scoops and vents like this i could buy for my car that actually function. -hint, hint...

            Outside the Box

Outside my box I modified my MMD Fender Vents into Hood vents because it could be done and have not seen it anywhere else. If you look closely tou will understand the opportunity to make a stand in a differnt modification. Salute from Colorado and yes it was not difficult.

            Fender vents

The fit was very good, and the appearance was exceptional. The instructions was clear and precise, with one exception. The tools list said you needed a 8mm socket, never mentions the need for a 10mm socket. I had 1 8mm bolt and 9 10mm bolts holding the fender on. But every thing else went just like the instructions said. But was confused on why they went with a measurement of 2/5ths and not a more common measurement like 8ths or 16ths of an inch. But very pleased with the product.
