    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey everybody, Alex with americanmuscle.com. Today I'm bringing you my quick review and installation of MMD's Front Splash Guards with the pony logo, fitting all 2015 through 2017 Mustangs. So MMD's Front Splash Guards featuring the pony logo are going to be a great option for any S550 owner out there that's looking for a quick-to-install and very budget friendly part that's going to help keep your pony clean from any type of debris or rock chips coming up off the road. And something I like about these splash guards, if you're in the market for them, as I know, they're not for everyone, is that they are going to install very easily. And for that, I'll be giving them one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and about a 30-minute job. And I'm gonna have more for you coming up on that later.Additionally, these might appeal to the S550 owners out there that are looking to show just a little bit more love to Ford and the blue oval as these are going to come with a very subtle running pony logo on either side. And aside from that pony logo that's going to be featured on either sides, we're going to see that MMD is going to have these manufactured out of a tough thermoplastic material that's going to be able to take any type of abuse you're running your Mustang through on the roads. But pricing wise, expect to be spending $70 for the set here which, in my humble opinion, is going to be a small price to pay in comparison to getting your paint corrected or getting any type of chips removed. But on the flip side here, if you're after a no-drill option you should expect to be spending only about $10 more. However, they will not come featured with the pony logo. And switching gears to the installation portion of the video, like I said up top, you're looking at a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, despite needing to do the slightest amount of drilling. And for that, I'll still give this a 30-minute job, easily. But looking ahead here, some things that I'd make sure to have on hand before you tackle this install, obviously, is going to be a drill and a drill bit, a flat head screwdriver, a jack stand, and a little bit of patience. So once your car is off the ground, what you're gonna need to do is turn your steering wheel in either direction for whichever wheel well you're getting into, so you can better access the one pushpin that's gonna need to get removed. After that you can then take one of the supplied alcohol swabs. And what you're gonna wanna do is clean up that mounting location and then hit it with the adhesion promoter. And then let that sit until it gets a little bit hazy, which is then gonna help have the double sided tape adhere. So once that's good and hazy, what you can do is remove the double sided tape from the back of the guard itself, push that into place, and then use the supplied push pin, again, while applying pressure to help that adhere. So this is where the drilling's gonna come in, where you're gonna wanna create a quarter inch hole through the shield into the fender liner. And then use the supplied push pin and that's gonna conclude the installation segment of the video. So I'm Alex and that's my quick review and install of MMD's Front Splash Guards featuring the pony logo, fitting all 2015 through 2017 Mustangs available right here at americanmuscle.com.

I'm worried about these rubbing on speed bumps or possible getting detached. Could you tell me what the ground clearance is from the bottom of the splash guard (stock GT). Thanks!

    • Clearance with the MMD Splash Guards will depend on ride height, as well as tire size. Unfortunately at this time we do not have a comprehensive list of clearance with different wheel and tire kits, and ride heights, aftermarket or OEM.

      Easy Install - Works

Very easy to install, you do have to jack up the vehicle for a few minutes. Instructions say to drill 1/4" holes; that left the first plug just a little loose. I ended up doing the rest at 3/16" to ensure a snug fit.

      Perfect Fit and finish

These splash guards are a perfect match, and install in under 5 mins... I tried a different brand before, and they were garbage in comparison.

      does the job but........

have spacers front and rear so decided to pick these up to match the rear splash guards. Install was simple, drill small hole, peel and stick. Here is what im running into. I have the sportlines on my stang, so everytime I pull in the driveway or go over a speed bump the front guards scrape. I know its cause of the drop, and they prolly wont last much longer. Just know if your lowered you may run into this. 1/4 inch shorter and these would be fine for my drop. Otherwise you will be satisfied.

      Disappointed

If your Stang is lowered. Don't buy. I broke my drive side the 2nd day I had them on. Then doing about 100mph. I went over a small hill and the drivers side bottomed out and broke it again. There just not flexible at all. Cost to much too. But the do keep the rocks off my paint which is why I bought the ugly things.

      Does exactly what you'd expect

Bought them cause I was tired of mud along the side of my car. I would've given it 5 stars but even after proper cleaning and adhesion, the part that's held with 3m tape didn't hold.

After buying the rears and seeing how nice they were, I finished the car with the front set. Just as good. Perfect fit and perfect look. Glad I bought them over any other set available.

      Excellent Product!

These splash guards not only look great, they fit perfectly. I had them on in about 30 minutes. I live in the oil patch of Texas and there's often some nasty chemicals on the roads. Looks like they will provide protection not only from mud and rain but other things (road tar, chemicals, etc.). These are a must have in my area.

      Minor fitment issue

Bought these after installing 275's up front and 305's on the back. Nice product, looks good, and does as I wanted. Fitment was a bit off and not as solid as I would have liked. The guards are molded and expected to fit flush inside the wheel well, and slightly wrap around to the side of the car. It was here where I experienced issues. The splash guard would not fit flush against the side of the car leaving at times an 1/8" gap. I worked them as much as possible to get a good fit, secured them, and filled the gaps with black exterior silicone. This had the added benefit of securing them more solidly to the car. All in all, pretty good product, looks great and protect the body of the car. I'd buy them again when needed.

Works great, looks good, fits OK

Same deal as my review on the rears - I am not going to complain about the expense, after all, no one forced me to buy these. They are well-made, and do a stellar job at keeping debris and dirt off my ruby red daily driver. However, I was not impressed by the fit, although the fronts are better than the rear pair I bought for my 2018 GT (with PP). The front guards' plug holes line up nicely with the OEM/original plug holes, and the bottom hole where you need to drill also hits the car's trim nicely. However, there is a slight gap where the guard follows the black horizontal trim of the car. All-in-all it works and looks great, except for the small latter issue. I have more of a complaint on the accompanying rear guards, hence the overall three stars for the full set. As I stated in the other review... for the price (yes, the price after all), I was expecting perfection.

      Be prepared for breakage

Be prepared to never cross a speed bump. I went over a small speed bump and my flaps broke on both sides. If you do consider ordering them maybe cut the bottom of them to be flush with the body. They did fit nice and looked good until I crossed a speed bump. Fit and looks earned it a second star. The broke after a week on the car.
